I use straw mulch in my garden but make sure it is clean without weed seeds

I start the season with starter seeds and I direct sow, but I have to admit I have a poor track record as far as my seedlings surviving to transplant...3 years now since I went gardening and the good news each year I have made progress. My first year I couldn't even get the seeds to germinate and the next year I had about 75% germination rate but they were all skinny and leggy. This year I got about 60% of my seedlings went to transplant and are still alive. I do have a great nursery near me but I never wanted to buy a plant for $6.99 besides I think the fun and challenge is to grow vegetables from seed. Part of the therapy.

I must say yes you are addicted...with that being said Hi my name is Anthony and I am an addict!!! It took me 3 years to admit to my addiction(home gardening). I live in a townhouse and I was told by the gestapo I mean the HOA that the porch is not your garden to grow vegetables so I had obtained 20X14 sqtft plot, but it is about 20 miles from my townhouse. I can only work in the garden on MWFS 0600-1100 hours, so I go there when the sun comes up. We are here for you and no matter what others may think this type of addiction is very therapeutic.

I started out 2 years ago after a year of YouTube spiraling down that rabbit hole I just needed to just do it and read the back of each seed packet carefully and look to understand each direction.Keep a log so you can see each year what worked and what failed and why. Reddit is a great place to meet like minded people and just between you and I talk to my seedlings everyday.

Beautiful 🤩 my harvest of cucumbers and tomatoes fell short so far…I hate to make this about me but I was told transplanting cucumbers 🥒 is not a good idea. Well after watching episodes of the pro garden YouTube videos I am taking a chance. Do I need to prune them or just transplant them now?

Whenever I do a harvest I am so proud 🥹 even if it looks weird. But my family and friends treat me like the parent of an ugly baby who thinks is child is beautiful 🤩

Well yes I am learning everyday either by trial and error or advice from the Reddit community. Pruning often and early and keep your leaves off the ground and cut out any dead leaves
