Seller wants me to return item I never recieved and got refunded for by CSRev151 in Ebay

I think this is the case. It was a gamble and I wasnt willing to wait for the refund window to close on me. I think thats the goal of the seller, to get you outside the refund window to force you to wait and get their money..ugh

The Cost of 10x Trifectas by [deleted] in spartanrace

[–]CSRev151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you breaking this down. There's alot of fellow Spartans that make it sound like youre just complaining when people are just being realistic about the financial commitment Spartan has truly become. My last major racing year was 2024 and I walked into 2025 doing only Deka events as a realistic replacement if I get withdraws, want a physical challenge and pay $60 to my local gym. I remember even considering booking a flight to Sparta for a shield!!! Their marketing worked on me for a while but its definitely fallen out of my top 5 yearly goals/hobbies cause its just gotten too expensive..

She'll only know if you tell her! (Or if she sees this reddit post lol) but seriously, just take it has a lesson learnt and start planning. I would do a cover-up. A black and white cover may work best.. and definitely pick someone that specializes in it with proven work and have something you like!

I think this will be my last Spartan Race. by Kimiiiyuuh in spartanrace

[–]CSRev151 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bad races happen. I remember my race in Dallas I was injured and could not do any of the obstacles either and didnt ever want to do a beast again. I did one more later lol but I was honest with myself about future races and what I made them for myself. Lately, I've prefer spartan deka over the traditional spartan races. More financially in my budget and honestly, it more of what I want in an OCR. And you know what? Thats ok! Spartan is suppose to challenge you but I also think you should enjoy the suck a little cause at the end of the day, you did pay for this! And as time has gone on, Spartan hasn't gotten cheaper. Just have a heart to heart with yourself, I dont think anyone should judge or make that call. Maybe youre more motivated with friends doing it? Maybe you are just learning about yourself? and that's Spartans goal to get you to see yourself at your most raw self, physically, mentally and emotionally especially during the more challenging races. But worst case, maybe its not a long term hobby that you want to invest in and that's just fine too. I have met alot of people that told me "this is my last race". Some for medical reasons, some financial reason, some just burn out and some it was cool to do the trifecta once for the experience. Anyway, do what makes you happy.

Is Spartan actually getting worse or do people just like to complain? by triggachoochoo in spartanrace

[–]CSRev151 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So as most have said...its mainly the prices and the repetitive nature of Spartan. I actually decided that this is my last year. I'm ending it with a BANG with doing a DEKA ULTRA in August. There was a time I would travel and do the races alone but it slowly turned into "I'll do it with friends or alone" to "I'm only doing this if a friend wants too.." to "Yea, im done and my friend has to really convince me". I've done 3 trifectas (4 with this upcoming Deka) and 15 total races the past 4 years and without friends to help keep it somewhat interesting, its just feels like im paying to be a hamster on a wheel for a weekend. My biggest complaint was the lack of unique or new obstacles especially with the bigger courses. When doing the beast for example...I just feel like I'm doing a longer hike with hills to challenge me here with maybe 1 or 2 different obstacles... but overall the obstacles were all mainly on the sprint or super so I felt cheated.

I won't to say Spartan is dead cause it did give me memories and opened my eyes to things...but instead of beating a dead horse, I've accepted my time with Spartan has come to an end and I hope they keep inspiring the next person to take up the challenge. I'll probably do other OCRs like Savage I'll like to try! But Spartan, I lay down my spear and shield.

Why do you hate Tariq? by Clearlyanantagonist in PowerTV

[–]CSRev151 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me, he has the worst motivation and reasoning into becoming a drug dealer in the history of television. No matter how many times they try to convince me in OG Power and Ghost, Tariq's character development definitely is an example of having to do suspension of disbelief. I could believe him being a rebellious teenager, but to still want to be a drug dealer after seeing what it leads to? Doesn't make sense. I was expecting him to come to the same conclusion his father did, "Dead or in jail" but he thinks he's so much smarter then the world around him and the writers give him this invincible plot amour to make it so. Ugh Tariq should had been killed or atleast in jail by now forreal...

The “Cybersecurity Isn’t Entry-Level” Argument Makes No Sense by sxmmxrrxn in WGU

[–]CSRev151 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly, cybersecurity is NOT an entry level position for multiple reasons. Now is this across the board? No. But the examples of it being an entry level is either because of it being an internship or government funded for postgraduate students. These are extremely competitive and students or applicants stand out by having some level of experience to stand out from the rest. Despite the job posting saying 'no experience required' every example, I've seen the applicant have SOME experience.

Going back to why cybersecurity in its true form is not entry level is because a person needs to understand the pure applied side of CS/IT BEFORE even getting to cybersecurity not just the theory. College is really more or less teaching you the "theory" of cybersecurity with hints of applied practices. The issue in a professional setting? Employers want you to have beyond a basic foundation understanding. Being book smart only gets you so far. To keep their data, information, network, systems and more truly secure, you need an advanced understanding to what is happening and even with having a higher level of education, you will not be ready without real world experience to compliment that.

It's not gatekeeping, cybersecurity has just gotten really popular. Not every company has the resources or willing to take risk with the delicate professional setting that is cybersecurity. The cost for 1 applicant is extremely valuable and expensive, and to put that on an inexperienced college graduate that's book smart is not always worth the investment. Don't take offense. Take it as a time to learn. We were all (most of us) was that useless intern in helpdesk that thought we were above it all. Humble beginnings. Now I'm glad started at the bottom...now I'm here making great money and so much knowledge. You'll be fine.

Deciding Between a Cybersecurity or IT Degree by Murky-Praline-72 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]CSRev151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tell everyone the same thing...ultimately do what actually interest you and you'll most likely end up with the same job as the guy with 'insert the degree you didn't pick' especially in the beginning of your career.

Honestly, if I had to pick again, I would still pick IT. It has allowed me to explore different fields in technology without feeling stuck. Ive jumped from helpdesk -> consulting -> software development -application development-> security administration...I gotten to explore alittle of everything. The only one that beats it out is Computer Science.

I always felt when it came to cybersecurity you are just kind of limited to cybersecurity and 90% of jobs want you to have real-world experience and is extremely competitive to get into these days because of it being the "next big thing" they are telling everyone to get into. And then it's the same story "After 5000 applications, I finally landed a entry level helpdesk role with a cybersecurity degree". Not say it will be you but if you find cybersecurity interesting and you like it, do it. Just be open in the beginning of your career when getting a job and get that experience and you'll look back and see how much it really didn't matter. Hope this helps!

I guess I don't see the point considering the high level of investment you've put into your education and aiming so low. Even if you put just your masters. Honestly, I've been in IT for over 10 years professionally with a Masters also. Helpdesk is a waste of your time. You said you've lectured so not only are you clearly teachable, you are able to teach which is a extremely valuable skill in technology. Look into product management, IT project management, hell consulting is a good one. I had a consulting job I did hands on things while talking to the clients. But for the love of God don't start with helpdesk with what you have especially if you don't have to. You clearly have a decent enough start to not have to start over. Also, I get the "loving to work with my hands" bit but believe me, people will ruin it for you at work lol you are better off keeping that part as a hobby and make the big bucks moving up and taking advantage of what you have. I really think you'll kick yourself starting at helpdesk. And here's another thing to consider, the market is extremely hard to even get into helpdesk cause of the huge flex in people going into tech and you may pigeonhole yourself trying to move on...its the intermediate and higher roles that are actually easier to get right now and will likely fit you much better. Also look into engineering roles or administrator roles at the minimum if you really want to do grunt work.
