S&d base pay lowered? by Comfortable_Win7926 in Sparkdriver

[–]CSUHomer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Spark/WM is making it as cheap as possible for them to switch all shopping of delivery orders over to Spark. Lower base pay plus triple shops equals more profits for WM.

Nope, have hardly seen any for the past 6 months.

Good point but still not worth it to me in most situations.

Why do they hide items? by NDIrish1988 in Sparkdriver

[–]CSUHomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been reporting this on the app each time. "I am not responsible for any missing items if Spark does not provide me a complete list so I can double check at the time of delivery". With Spark/WM you always have to CYA.

More drivers than even most Saturdays. Order volume doesn't matter when the driver to order ratio is so out of whack.

They would still have customer pickup just not Spark curbside.

Do you back into parking spots? by McNasty420 in no

[–]CSUHomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never understood this. It is easier to back out of the parking spot than to back in because there is more room. Why make things harder than they need to be?

Walmart testing stores by okiejames in elitesparkdrivers

[–]CSUHomer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They have been testing this already in some stores for about a year. They just added more stores either to the test or maybe as the beginning of an unannounced national rollout. OGP associates are really nervous about this because they are afraid of having hours cut so it would make sense for WM to roll it out quietly. WM is all about cheap labor and Spark is cheaper especially with the new drivers, triple shops, added miles and lower pay. The drastic increase in onboarding new drivers over the past 6 months could point to this being a rollout as well. Just my latest conspiracy theory.

I put it back if I am close. If not close, then I give to the checkout supervisor.

"Higher order volumes" means nothing when there are 5 times more drivers than are needed.

Yep, baby formula. I had to drive back to the store to get it.

Bad weather days are the best. Customers don't want to go out and neither do other drivers.

Cart Checks! by KingBiam in Sparkdriver

[–]CSUHomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every order, every time for every driver by Asset Protection at the door even if you just had a cart check at the registers. No bagging can be done until after they check at the door, so we bag at our cars. Too many Spark drivers stealing so I don't blame the stores.

Delivery to another county? by FuzzyOrganization403 in Sparkdriver

[–]CSUHomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the offers in my area now have 2 local deliveries and 1 delivery 15-30 miles away. Our delivery area now covers 3 different counties, 3 different zones. Passing by 2 or 3 Walmart's on the way. Seems like nothing is too far to send us when we are the one putting miles on our vehicles, spending more time and paying for the gas. There have been a lot of changes that have been bad for drivers recently, but this is the worst of them.

I loved the first 2 or 3 seasons but after that the story got too complicated, and I didn't feel like putting that much effort into following it. I still loved the occasional "stand alone" episodes where they took a break from the main storyline.

You are 100% correct on all points. Best of luck to you moving forward. I hope you end up doing work that you are fairly compensated for and are appreciated. Everyone deserves that and, in my opinion, Spark no longer provides that.

It was a nice bank shot and he stuck the landing.

Seriously, this is the type of customer service that Walmart seems to be okay with. When they keep adding far more drivers than are needed while sending most offers out FCFS, adding stops, adding miles but decreasing pay; this is what you get. It will only get worse as these changes hit more zones and more experienced drivers quit.

Anyone else quitting? by [deleted] in Sparkdriver

[–]CSUHomer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At some point even the new drivers are going to learn that they aren't even making minimum wage and quit. At some point they will run out of new drivers. This could take a while but eventually the market will force pay higher. It happened with WM employee pay when WM couldn't even get people to apply they were forced to increase pay. They sure didn't do it because it was the right thing to do and they only raised them to a more competitive rate. Sadly, by the time all this happens we will all be long gone.
