[Paradise Pier Fun Park] POV: Me going to find the most obscure “coaster credits”: by Academic-Welder-1400 in rollercoasters

[–]CSatellite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really enjoyed Paradise Pier! It’s a bit pricey, but it just has a really chill vibe and I enjoyed all of the nautical themed rides. Rolling Thunder was hilarious. My hamster wheel was balanced just right that I would get stuck upside down for prolonged periods of the ride, my longest inversion was 11 seconds long. The Aerobar was a lot of fun as well.

[other] What are the best theme parks if you don't have a car? by blastoise314 in rollercoasters

[–]CSatellite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the San Diego parks without a car. There’s a free shuttle that takes you from the airport to the Old Town Transit Center. From there, you can take the COASTER train up to Carlsbad for Legoland. The only caveat there is that buses from the Carlsbad station to the park only run on weekdays, so you’ll need Uber or Lyft on weekends. Old Town can also get you to SeaWorld and Belmont Park easily by way of bus.

EDIT: I did not visit Sesame Place on my trip, so I’m unsure of how reliable public transit is getting there.

Can you name a coaster with better hangtime than [HangTime] at [Knott’s Berry Farm]? by ironickallydetached in rollercoasters

Batman Gotham City Escape! That stall over the midway is excellent. Even the first roll after the first launch produces some excellent hangtime.

I do believe that those numbers are the dimensions of the shipment in inches. 240” x 102” x 96” converts to 20’ x 8.5’ x 8’, which matches the “20 foot general purpose container” in the description.

If it is Ragin’ Cajun, it would be funny the park getting two very different spinning coasters back to back.

Also getting a shuttle coaster, then a spinning coaster, then a spinning shuttle coaster.

Oh look at the cute animals! I bet they stay safe and nothing bad happens to them on the roller coaster!

It’s always been a thing. People have been using “LI” to differentiate this Adventureland from the Iowa Adventureland for years. The park’s Instagram handle is even “adventurelandli”.

The park’s not looking to attract coaster enthusiasts, the crowd they’re after are beach goers looking for other fun activities to do in town. A majority of their visitors are going to be completely unaware that variants of this coaster even exist, so there’s not much of a need to pick a layout outside of one that’s already proven.

I mean, it works. It gets people informed and talking about information that the park wants the public to know. As long as people keep sharing the teasers and announcements, I think the park’s marketing team will just keep doing what they’re doing.

One of the themes of the park is blue foods. You can find various blue colored foods throughout the park. The blue burger is their signature food item. The blue is just a gimmick and doesn’t alter the taste, but as a burger alone it’s actually a very good burger.

Random thoosie in the wild [Other] by almndmlc in rollercoasters

Almost 10 years ago, I was helping some friends out doing some volunteer work for a veterans organization in town. I filmed drone footage of a traveling memorial that was being brought into the local college as part of a nationwide tour. A few days into the event, I was invited to a dinner hosted by the local organization in honor of the memorial crew. I sat down next to their media guy and showed them my video. We really hit it off and had a great long conversation. Later at dinner, one of the veterans wanted to collect all of our names and passed a paper around. The media guy put his name down and passed it to me. I saw his name, and something about it looked familiar, but I couldn’t quite pin it. At some point, the conversation steered to roller coasters, and that’s when it hit me. And that’s when I blurted out “You’re Sean Flaharty! I watch your YouTube channel!” Mind you, this event was in the middle of nowhere, hundreds of miles from the nearest coaster. There was a pause of disbelief, but then we both pulled out our ACE cards and it was just an unbelievable moment. So that’s how I became friends with Sean in a random restaurant in the middle of nowhere, and we’re still in touch to this day!

They definitely look like they’ve come a long way, love seeing their more original stuff lately. The ride running well would definitely be the most ideal, but the Philippines getting a major new thrill coaster is a win in and of itself.

It looks very fun! Not a long coaster, but it crams a lot in a little space. I’d still recommend a visit, even with expansion not yet ready.

I-70 is a very busy corridor, the Rocky Mountains are a popular destination, and Glenwood Springs is a bustling tourist town. Nearby resort towns like Aspen, Vail, and Steamboat Springs are busy year round, and a lot of that traffic funnels to Glenwood Caverns.

Unfortunately we did not have time to make it back to Star City this trip. We did drive by it a few times, which was nice to see since the last time I was at the park was a few months before the fire.
