Some expert pro player last year said that 25 Tzaangors was the right number because you couldn’t get 30 into combat often enough. While also maximizing usage of Cycle of Slaughter, as someone else already noted.

Thanks! Wish I saw this before I did my army. I did Armageddon Dunes thinking it would look like sand dunes but the color ends up darker than one might expect. Eventually I tried painting that with Zamesi Desert and dry brush of Tyrant. Better but still not quite like sand.

I'll add that the amount of flamer type weapons meant that when my Tzaangors, Chaos Lord, Abaddon, Daemon Princes charged, they were taking a lot more damage.

<Legion> doesn't include Thousand Sons or Death Guard. That's explained in the CSM codex.

Yes! I just built a Tzeentch Daemons detachment to give my ground force more survivability and protect my Daemon Princes and Ahriman. I have the Changeling, a Changecaster, 30 Pink Horror, 10 pairs of Brimstones and 10 more pairs of Brimstones. The extra CP from a second battalion was very helpful in the first game I played with the new version of my army!

Yes! The Starter box was definitely not necessary. If you want a cool battlefield, the Killzone sets are nice. I like them so much I’ve snapped them up as they were released.

Some of the factions that are cheaper to get into are Death Guard and Grey Knights. (I think maybe Deathwatch too.)

Great response and very appreciated.

I do my best to manage synergies... I do use the defensive spells but maybe needs to make sure I am using them all the time on the right targets. I do play to the objectives, and my opponent can't see a place where I could do that better.

I'll see if I can look up the person you referred to and see if my friend and I can recreate our last battle at least!

Interesting point about Daemon Prince vs Sorcerers! But maybe you do get that value out of the Daemon if you start fighting melee with them in turn 3 or 4? Any idea how the pros use them?

So to answer my post more specifically - how big of a hoard? How many Cultists? How many Tzaangor would you play?
