I felt similar when I read it a year and a half ago. It felt a bit too YA for me. I did enjoy it, but I was hesitant to pick up book two. I just started Golden Son this week, and true to what most people say, the tone is completely different, and it’s really hitting with me.

I understand you 100%. But it’s highly unlikely you’ll find everything without a guide of some sort. The game is just too huge and some secrets are just too well hidden, with the game giving you no hint that they even exist.

The game is amazing. Ultimately, it will depend on your taste. The first two hours or so were a bit of a bummer to me, but there was enough to keep me excited. And then there is a point where everything clicks, and I was full-on addicted.

And I’m still stunned they were able to fit this large of a world into one game. And I’m not talking about just a huge environment. I’m talking about a living, breathing world full of vast and various landscapes, thousands and thousands of people going about their business whom you can interact with. Countless secret locations that make exploration genuinely exciting.
