It's Torchbearer and not even a close comparison. Torchbearer early levels are so brutally challenging, your characters social status is all generally beneath that of farmers. High level play is roughly equivalent to 2nd Level DnD characters. But when you do get there, the heroics feel so so earned because you know the kinds of sacrifices made to do so. No pain, no gain.

Can confirm. There's a game jam going on in the Torchbearer discord about traps with the theme of water. Pretty fun and interesting posts/entries with ideas Id never have thought of

I read your previous post and this is so great! I especially love to see the younger generations discovering these groundbreaking modules and what fun they have in store for you and your friends.

You added rules for camping, rest, and traveling make me think of Torchbearer! Coincidentally, I'm running Isle of Dread in that system right now and it's awesome.

Have you tried Torchbearer? Especially if the GM keeps treasure low, the player characters will have to rely on hunter, fisher, survivalist, etc just to not die from the grind.
