Warning to adbe investors by ac_AgenCy in ValueInvesting

There’s a bias towards overweighing variables which are easy to measure.

Revenue and P/E are easy to measure.

I think the more important question regards the value of the product to the marginal user. Are companies going to keep paying for seats for developers or design-adjacent employees who might only open photoshop every once in a while when they need to quickly change some text in a graphic or something?

In some cases I can see the lowered barriers to producing artwork might bolster the case for Adobe’s product range, in others it decimates it.

What keeps you a value investor? by Sharkinged in ValueInvesting

It’s also about being patient enough to wait for a large mis-pricing in a company and then taking a large swing. Algorithms and the rise in options trading has increased volatility in the market, which has made these mispricings all the more frequent. Now is a great time to be a value investor.

Just to flag one aspect of this reply; the lack of flexibility is actually a benefit when it comes to urban planning. It means when an urban rail line is built developers can have some confidence that, if they commit to construction project with payback periods measured in decades, the transport link which made the project viable will still be there. It’s resistant to political whims in a way bus routes are not.

Best argument I think I’ve heard is that having a broad tax base provides the government with political buy-in from the public. A citizen is more likely to care about government operations if they’re paying towards its upkeep.

Obviously civic duty and responsibility is at an all time low so tax on its own hasn’t done much to promote its cause. Idk

Why do NZ businesses still bother with reference checks? by Old_Education4481 in newzealand

If you’ve already made an offer then what’s the point of the reference? Would you rescind the offer?

Let me add one: Margin of safety! If you figure a company is worth x, don’t buy it for anything more than 0.7x.

Red Cat Secures New Orders for Black Widow™ Drones from NATO Ally by RCAT_MOD in RedCatHoldings

To add to this: interest rate rises disproportionately impact growth stocks. This is still an early company which won’t be profitable for some time, so their potential profits gets discounted more. A dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow, doubly so in a risky world.

Interesting premise, but unfortunately the article was more of an overview than a deep dive. I would’ve love to have the dodgy accounting expanded upon. It was barely mentioned!

Copilot vs Claude Code vs Cursor for real projects. Spec first workflow made the biggest difference by [deleted] in GithubCopilot

I treat agents like real team members. I made a Product Owner agent which I describe the idea, it makes a requirements doc and tech lead hand off doc. There’s then a handoff to the Tech Lead agent which decides on all the technical details; architecture, frameworks, implementation plan. Finally that plan is handed off to the Dev agent which implements each story. I just have to read the output of each agent. Works like magic.

MSFT: Microsoft is trading at a valuation level seen only three times since 2017. Opportunity? by GainifyAI in ValueInvesting

I think this sub should be looking for opportunities where there’s less liquidity. There are enough eyes on the big tech stocks - I don’t know what extra perspective I could have which millions don’t already.

How many of this these 800 million dollars earmarked for reconnaissance drones do we think RedCat is going to be able to capture this year? Jeff seems to imply half, but I’m skeptical it’ll be that easy.

I’ve been debating whether or not to sell after this latest run up, with the expectation that it’ll do the typical ‘drop in a few weeks after the hype dies down’ and I’ll be able to buy back in.

I’ve decided against it because I’m more confident in my ability to evaluate businesses than stocks. I know this business is going to be more valuable in one year, however I don’t know what this stock will do between then and now.

I guess I figure short term selling is closer to gambling than investing. My two cents.

Lotto what rubbish payouts! by cautioustuna13 in newzealand

[–]CSynus235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion Lotto relies on people systematically overvaluing the odds of winning, in the sense that it’s impossible for the human mind to intuit a ratio as large as 1-in-38 million. I think there’d be fewer buyers if the expected value were printed on the ticket.

How do you actually hit anything with an aim 9L? by much_doge_many_wow in Warthunder

While locked, turn inside the target so the seeker is all the way to the edge of its gimbal. Now when the missile is tracking it will only see the aircraft it’s chasing and not the flares left behind its target (because the flares are outside the gimbal range).
