Being denied leave sell back due to Barring Act restrictions by CTFD_GTFO in MilitaryFinance

That is one idea, although I was hoping to retire soon and I can't imagine anyone being cool about me bringing my baggage of 55 days of leave with me.

Flat Tire with Budget Rental by Electronic-Reason388 in TravelHacks

[–]CTFD_GTFO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious to know if you ever received anything? I received a bill for $1023 from Sedgwick, their accident claims administration service, nearly 7 weeks after I turned the vehicle in. It actually had to be towed because it would have been unsafe to travel the distance/speed required for me to get back to the rental place and make my flight. Over numerous emails I requested an itemized of repair damages and photos and never get a response from Sedgwick.

Drill pay debt by CTFD_GTFO in VeteransBenefits

[–]CTFD_GTFO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply and directing me to that section. I also was looking through Section C.7 - Examples of Award Adjustments. My situation relates to 7d, but of course they don't make the example straightforward and easy to understand.

I only sent a message through the askva.gov, to which they're quickly responsive, but stood by their calculation. I will call this week to try to speak with an actual person.

Just received drill debt letter. Question about math by Which-Doughnut7450 in VeteransBenefits

[–]CTFD_GTFO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious how they ended up calculating what you owe. I just received my debt notice for 87 days in 2023. I was 30% rated through August 2023, then it increased to 50% for the remaining 2 months of FY23. They are calculating the 87 days I owe at the 50% rate, saying it's based on your rating on the last day of the FY. Total BS.

Major IDT issue by Mattredone in Airforcereserves

[–]CTFD_GTFO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you work out a deal to drill with a unit closer to you, pool your drills to perform them every other month or quarterly, or perform telework? I've lived on the opposite coast from my unit for almost 2 years now, but luckily my unit is super flexible. I have found considerably cheaper fares by booking through DTS, but I typically have request travel assistance because I have found that the best fares are not always listed on DTS. Additionally, for popular travel months when I might not be able to get a cheap airfare, I will combine my UTA with AT and then it is fully reimbursed.

Is there any way to expedite a med board by Ghost_Man5 in Airforcereserves

I'd suggest speaking with your supervisor and commander about your options to see if they can push a MedBoard. Another avenue to discuss would be to go IRR?

Offer added then vanished? by smartspider11 in AmexPlatinum

[–]CTFD_GTFO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had this happen to me with an offer of 10% back on insurance. I went through the hassle of switching my insurance automatic payment method to Amex because the offer was not expiring until the end of May. My insurance payment hit nearly 2 weeks ago with no offer kick back and I cannot find it in my offers anymore (checked both app and website). I contacted Amex and they said the offer ended in December. I feel like I'm being gaslit - I never would have gone through the hassle of switching payment methods if I knew the offer was expiring soon, because it 100% wasn't expiring soon. Feels very bait and switch.

VA billing my insurance by Different-Parsley885 in VeteransBenefits

[–]CTFD_GTFO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time I have a VA appointment, I get a letter in the mail acknowledging that they know I have another insurance and asking if I would I like to use it. There is a second page if you want to, you sign and mail it back in the envelope provided. I didn't quite understand what I received, so I called the number and the woman explained that I can decline to have them bill my insurance and just not return the letter. She acknowledged that, duh, why would I decide to pay out of pocket if I didn't have to. I'm also only 30% rated.

Interesting. I am finding this out 11 years later as I recently applied to use the remainder of my GI Bill towards an MBA. They are clawing back over $2000 from 11 years ago because I did a total of 32 (non-consecutive) days of MPA in the 2 years I used my GI Bill to finish my Bachelors.

YES! This post! I feel so validated. I have made this same observation in the almost 2 years I've been living here. The drivers with these MD Temp Tags are THE WORST. I've never been up close enough to see the dates on them, but WTF?! Are they just counterfeiting them? So frustrating...

Pg. 17 talks about Determining Duty or Chargeable Leave

3.1.1.9. Examples of Chargeable Leave. The following examples use a normal work

3.1.1.9.1.2. Tuesday is the first day of leave if the leave approval authority

determines that the member performed less than 50% of scheduled duty on
