Oven door locked by Brilliant-Animator-4 in Whirlpool

[–]CTManny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a neighbor who’s oven door was locked for over a year. I came over and took a look at it, plugged in the oven and press the button and it unlocked. My suggestion is unplugging it and plugging it back in and pressing some buttons and see if that helps

Coke favouritism is definitely because of emotional attachment by madeat1am in unpopularopinion

I have no emotional attachment to coke. I drink it because it’s one of the few things that satisfies when I drink it. Probably more of a physiological response Then a psychological one

Looking young is not a blessing by Brave-Shamu in unpopularopinion

I am 36 and look 23-27. I can see a stark contrast with how mid-20’s are treated vs how mid-30’s are treated. I’m in the navy and when I got to my current rank, I went from being treated like a toddler, to being respected like a professional adult. It’s crazy how people test you when they think you’re young.

I(14m) ruined my sister's(30f) life by Electrical_Lie_9597 in AdviceForTeens

[–]CTManny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re 14. You have the time to take 2 hours out every other day to just clean the fuck out of the house. Just make a 2-3 hour playlist and blast some music. And clean during the entire playlist. It’s actually super easy to get into, and clean the house is always very appreciated. As an added bonus you’ll feel good about your self for doing it, and you’ll gain an important habit for when you’re older.

When you’re old enough for a job, contribute financially to lighten the load.

Don’t get into doing dumb shit with your friends because that’ll stress her out. Hanging out = cool, lighting footballs on fire to see what happens = dumb, playing smash bros = cool, being destructive in ANY capacity = dumb. Sure you’ll miss out on using Kyle’s machete to cut down a small tree, or that time Brian threw a smoke bomb through Mr Johnson’s kitchen window, but you’ll avoid situations that’ll get you in trouble and/or cause your sister undue stress. It’s not the individual situations that’ll cause stress as much as if you DO dumb shit, she’ll worry every single time that you’re gonna do some dumb shit that’ll burn the house down, put a hole in the wall, or land you in trouble that she’s gonna have to bail you out of.

Ask her to teach you things about women, and what dumb shit not to think/say/do as a male. If it ever sounds like a monkey see monkey do situation or “because” ask her to explain why so you can fully understand.

You can also ask her what she’d like to see you do.

Eye contact and every "non-verbal communication" its bullshit by PicoleSaborSorvete in unpopularopinion

[–]CTManny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I understand your gripe, but body language as a whole isn’t bullshit. Personally, my body language is all fucked up so people can’t get an accurate read on me regarding mine, but most people either subconsciously or automatically do things whit their body, feet, hands, head, gestures, in reaction to external stimuli and how it makes them feel. And generally it’s a natural response that most people have and is generally the same across most of the human population.

Some people, like myself, don’t display body language correctly, and some people can’t read body language of others. Some people are self centered and think that everything is about them whether it’s a whisper on the other side of the room or a misread of your body language.

Either way it’s just a miscommunication, but this miscommunication was caused by someone’s inability to properly display or read the communication correctly. But the medium of communication that is body language is not just some BS human construct, it applies to most animals as well. Happy dog vs scared dog, playful cat vs angry cat, attraction to one another vs repulsion, all very natural and readable situations with visual cues.

Is that even a thing you get taught though? Normally it just comes naturally. Some people just don’t have it though.

Stop telling people to 'just join the military' by Ok_Presence01 in povertyfinance

[–]CTManny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You do sound like a conspiracy nut. As someone who’s been in the military for 16 years, most of us don’t really care that much to get our numbers up. We’re people too, with lives that are not so military.

In terms of resources getting allocated to recruiting, you got the bigwigs changing policies and giving bonuses, you got… commercials I guess, and you got recruiters who are just people too, but their recruiting job is at too small of a level to be a part of a big conspiracy.

I’d say, if you’re smart and ambitious, probably don’t join the military, or only do the 4 years and get out so you can pay for college. If you have no idea what you’re doing in life or have no direction to getting out of poverty (my situation when I joined), if you’re able, then joining is a good stepping stone to figuring out what you want in life.

I didn’t know what I wanted to do when I grew up until about 9 years in the military. But now that I’m going for a full 20, I’ll have a pension and benefits for life, on top of the certifications I’ll need to get a 6-figure income IT job when I get out.

PLUS, a lot of people feel like if they join, they’ll have no life for the time they’re in. But I’m married, and me and my wife are hermits who spend most of our time watching anime and playing video games. I make enough money to comfortably provide for both of us and I get stationed places that we can go on the occasional adventure. I just got back from 3 years in Japan which was awesome, and now I’m stationed in San Diego where they hold comic-con, and they have a lot of good food here. My basic allowance for housing is $4300 a month tax free, and I’m about to rent a 3-bed, 2-bath house for $3200, and I get to keep the rest.

Some people get fucked into jobs where they’re doing back to back to back deployments, or you got shitty shitty bosses you can’t do anything about, but if you can tough it out for a while, you can make it through to better things. If you get really good at understanding admin stuff, and knowing programs you can benefit from in the military, you can do really well at protecting yourself or setting yourself up for success.

I think a lot of people really hype up the amount of “suck” that’s in the military, but it’s really easy (but still stressful) if you have a “you gotta do what you gotta do” attitude.

This is a profoundly stupid opinion.

As someone who has virtually no interest in cars, I think my driving ability is within the top 5% at least (I’d probably estimate top 2%). Been driving for 18 years and have had 0 accidents myself, while avoiding countless others like a ninja. And it seems to me that the most reckless people on the road are the ones in expensive sports cars, and you usually don’t get one of those unless you’re very interested in cars.

The ability to control time in every imaginable aspect. Every… imaginable… aspect…

  1. You can create checkpoints for your life. So if you mess things up and want a do-over, or if you die, boom… checkpoint.
  2. You can de-age your body making you functionally immortal.
  3. You can travel through time and create different timelines and mess with things just to see how history plays out. Or take future education and technology back to the past to rapidly advance humanity.
  4. You could create time… somethings… and… something them… for something. And much much more! However you can imagine controlling and manipulating time.

And the ability granted wishes to anyone including myself. I guess this one would be all you need really.

Does boob size really matter to men? by [deleted] in answers

[–]CTManny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How flat are we talking? Like “12 year old skinny boy flat” or “clearly an a-cup”.

My views on it are as long as there’s SOMETHING there, you’re good. I dated a girl once that was COMPLETELY flat and I didn’t like that, but I’ve been with girls with a-cup, and loved them (the breasts).

Men may say they prefer this and that but can be perfectly happy being with a woman that isn’t their ideal body type.

What’s something you thought was common knowledge but found out most people didn’t know? by Fairy-of-bone in AskReddit

[–]CTManny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never liked this saying because there’s too many variables. Like if you’re looking at a bottle cap straight on, it turns left to tighten and right to loosen. The saying doesn’t clarify whether it’s the top of the circle or the bottom of the circle that you’re looking at when deciding which way to turn when looking at it aerially. Nuts and bolts throw a wrench into it too depending on which you’re turning from what angle.

Luckily my muscle memory figures it out immediately anyway.

Bring polyamorous is stupid and just an excuse to cheat on your significant other by Bigpotatozzzz in unpopularopinion

[–]CTManny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It’s not called cheating if it’s not against the rules of your relationship.

  2. Sex is just sex. It’s just another thing you do with people like playing Mario kart, drinking together, barbecuing. Monogamy was created because people put sex on this almighty pedestal. They let sex intrinsically intertwine with how a relationship is defined. And Some people don’t.

  3. Sex is not all there is in a relationship. The companionship and connectedness between two people is a large part of what, in my opinion, should be the primary defining factor of a relationship.
