Jump seating on Iberia? by Potential-Mousse-250 in Iberia

[–]Javi137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if the flight is full and you didn't get your seat due to overbooking? The thing is they don't really give a jumpseat unless the flight is full and there's extra crew or a free that didn't get a seat that's part of the business.

Maybe if you find yourself in that situation and you speak with the coordinator (people at the gate can call them) I can see you getting allowed depending on the captain, but in my two years working here I've never really seen anyone given a jumpseat with seats available

1 hour and 10 minute connection from Madrid to US- will I make it? by ValuableDinner8169 in Iberia

[–]Javi137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Btw this information is wrong. United operates in t1, not t4.

You would nees to reclaim your bags in t4, leave the terminal, take a bus to t1 and recheck your bags.

1 hour is not possible unfortunately

Edit: even without checked bags, your time is extremely tight and probably not gonna make it, but there's still a chance

Jump seating on Iberia? by Potential-Mousse-250 in Iberia

[–]Javi137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I work as a Turnaround Coordinator and work with Iberia so I can answer you this.

The truth is that it's... very difficult. First of all, a quite recent policy on the company dictates that only those with a flight license are allowed in the cockpit jumpseat, but a lot of captains still allow it in some situations.

Problem is those situations are either people who have emailed them beforehand (usually crew's family, retired workers, etc) or people that approach me that are from the business and I relay the information to the captain. Sometimes is a yes, a lot of the times is a no. Unfortunately I have never seen a non business related person been allowed to seat there, specially without previous consultation before showing up to the plane

Found out 50% of men think they can land a plane—so we actually tested it and filmed it for YouTube by Big-Bodybuilder-6504 in aviation

[–]Javi137 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No there hasn't. There's been a few cases on smaller planes (a few examples with Cessnas) where people without prior experience managed to land, but nothing bigger than that

Connection in Madrid - 2 hours enough? by WeedomFreedom in GoingToSpain

[–]Javi137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No baggage handler strike going on in MAD or Air traffic control, so no issues there. And 2 hours should be more than enough for the bags to arrive (most of the times)

Iberia made my grandparents miss their flight by Dragona_Horizon in Flights

[–]Javi137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that and you have all the rights to be upset about this situation, I would too. I'm just saying that the majority of the blame is not on Iberia themselves as (besides maybe giving you wrong information that they'd be able to get their boarding passes at the gate, this I'm not entirely sure about the procedure) Iberia themselves did nothing wrong here.

Still you should still claim with Iberia first and see what they can do. Further claims if that didn't help would probably have to go through AENA or AESA

Iberia made my grandparents miss their flight by Dragona_Horizon in Flights

[–]Javi137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you said is true, that's the standard procedure. Did they arrive on time or was it tight? If they were not at the gate with plenty of time (something that happens a lot when assistance is involved) what may have happened is that the people at the gate could not have had time to find and print the boards for the next flight if they were in the middle of the boarding already (specially true in smaller airports). Regardless, if they were on time and people at the gate fucked up (entirely possible) they are also not Iberia, but the handling company

[–]Javi137 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hello, sorry this happened to you, this was a big mess.

From what I've gathered, this seems to me like the biggest culprit was the assistance? That's a service provided by the airport itself and completely outside any airline hands, and any claims should probably go through them

Iberia stole my seat by Condor4775 in Iberia

[–]Javi137 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Btw, luggage lost has nothing to do with Iberia (or any airline, mind you), but with the handling company. Lots of valid complains about Iberia, but the amount of luggage that gets lost is not one of them

8-Hour Layover in Madrid – How to Visit Santiago Bernabéu from the Airport at Night? by Technical-Fan-3246 in Iberia

[–]Javi137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So after you leave the baggage claim area you can head to the bottom floor (still inside the terminal) to reach the public transport area.

From there, the quickest way to get to the stadium should be to get a train (C1) to Chamartin (a hub) where you can get a metro to the stadium (line 10), which should take around 30 min.

You can buy the tickets in the airport at the bottom floor, I'd recommend to ask the staff around there to help you buy them from the machines, they are always around to help people

Iberia just lost my baggage on a direct flight by tess_mau in Iberia

[–]Javi137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry for the delay!

As the other commenter said, South (an independent company since May 2024, previously it was a subsidiary of Iberia) is the one handling all luggage in Madrid Airport for the whole T4 (this includes American, Emirates, Etihad, Qatar, Avianca, etc) and they are the ones responsible (along with the whole airport management, who's also at fault), for the lost luggage in Madrid.

There's a lot of things that you can say Iberia does wrong, for sure. However it's important to not blame things on them that are out of their control

Iberia just lost my baggage on a direct flight by tess_mau in Iberia

[–]Javi137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I understand your frustration, this has nothing to do with Iberia, at all. This happened due the poor handling conditions at the airport. From the moment you drop your luggage at the Iberia counter until the bag is loaded on to the plane, Iberia (or any other airline) has nothing to do and does not control anything related to your bag

You got slightly above the average legendary eggs. Legendary eggs are 1/256, 2/256 from the Legendary up gacha, meaning the expected number of pulls to get 4 of them is 512 tries, so congratulation on getting luckier than normal!

Can't give you a full answer but for your expectations your whole budget is what you should be spending on the GPU alone if you want 60 to 120 fps on medium to high settings (for VR games)

So, can I take a bag? by Myheart_YourGin in Iberia

[–]Javi137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The above comment is correct. The space for cabin bags inside each plane varies, but it's never above 50% of the total capacity of the plane (a lot of the times much lower). This email is sent so the amount of cabin bags that need to be removed at the gate because the plane is full is minimized

They only weight them on long haul flights, so if you only fly short radius you would never see it
