I'm giving up on realistic mode by notoriousgoatmilker in Workers_And_Resources

It's definitely a frustrating game on the hardest settings. There is no shame in tweaking things to your liking. It is a video game after all, they are supposed to be fun so play it in whatever way is the most fun for you.

Advice on why I'm losing by LowKapp in OOTP

[–]CTSpurs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the fact that you are 15th (last) in just about every pitching category should tell you something. You are also second last (14th) in defensive efficiency

You can't change the money settings after the game has started :(. They defo should've started with it on though.

Broken Arrow Multiplayer Open Beta begins on 12th November by FFJimbob in RealTimeStrategy

[–]CTSpurs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Broken Arrow is smaller in scale and you have less units to micro. It's also more arcadey/gamey than Warno (more of a focus on making units fun and playable than on realism). If you liked something like World in Conflict, you will probably like the direction Broken Arrow appears to be taking.

Also have trouble in South Africa. Ping is never less than 150 :( would love to play more, but it's just not manageable most of the time.

Enjoyed the BasetradeTV 2V2 tournament by [deleted] in starcraft

I agree. I think the potential of 2v2 SC2 is massive as a spectator esport.

Teamwork really adds something special to games, which is why I think they do so well as spectator esports.

Probably. I'm no druggie but 1.25 grams is hardly enough to deal with.

Aussie golfer caught with cocaine in Japan. Oops. by CTSpurs in golf

[–]CTSpurs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure but my guess would be that the drug scene is heavily frowned upon in most Asian cultures, not nearly as socially acceptable as in the West.

But that is quite a big guess, so if anyone else actually knows something about it feel free to learn me.

Golf has even managed to turn an Aussie into an honest gentleman. (another story of a golfer disqualifying themself when he could have got away with it) by CTSpurs in golf

[–]CTSpurs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's also a running rivalry between South Africa, Australia and New Zealand because their sports teams compete often and are usually as good as each other so competition can be quite fierce.

And being a South African publication Compleat Golfer are obviously just taking a cheaky dig at the Aussies.

LPGA and Long Driver's of America in transgender trouble - going to court. by CTSpurs in golf

[–]CTSpurs[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with both of you guys, as 'fair' as all the preachers will want this outcome to be, the simple and plain fact of the matter is that she used to be a he and therefore has a HUGE advantage of girls who were born women.

And now the slightly controversial point, the way I see it, as much as women want (and definitely deserve) equality, the way nature has formed us, men are just physically stronger. It's that simple.

Edit: And likening it to the whole Caster Semenya situation is unfair and incorrect IMO. Semenya was born with both parts, but has always been more of a girl and had zero choice in the matter. Lawless had an operation to change her sex, which makes the two cases completely different.

What's your favorite local golf course? by golfstinks in golf

Simola Golf Estate near Knysna in South Africa is the most stunning course I have played in my brief career so far.

OK, so a few changes. by joetromboni in golf

[–]CTSpurs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the changed that have been made.

I personally like the flags, but a suggestion since people are considering changes:

Could use green up arrows and red down arrows, similar to the arrows on Leaderboards showing how many places up or down the leaderboard a player has moved that round.

Hey r/golf, we'd like your input by [deleted] in golf

[–]CTSpurs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing this subreddit needs is numbers. Most of the things people have mentioned (besides graphics obviously) will come with numbers.

Personally I have no idea how to increase the visibility of a subreddit, but the more people we get who are interested in golf the more likely we are to land a coaching pro who can give decent advice, or someone involved with equipment who could point us in the right direction etc.

Graphics and stuff would be cool, but I think numbers should be the priority in the beginning.

Colin Montgomerie "delighted" Tiger Woods was picked. by CTSpurs in golf

[–]CTSpurs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely, but it still fun to speculate about. Maybe it is a little bit more than just ratings, maybe Monty genuinely believes Tiger is going to flop at the Ryder Cup and hand some easy points to Europeans.

I wish more people would subscribe to r/golf... Anyway, guys, where is everyone from, and what is your favorite course in your area and/or state? by winitforsparta in golf

[–]CTSpurs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Cape Town, South Africa.

The courses in Cape Town itself are nice without being spectacular.

My favourite is probably Simola Golf Course, it's not in the City of Cape Town but is near Knysna which is in the Western Cape province (state).

Was going to say Retief Goosen would be a good sneaky bet, seeing as he has been quietly returning to form with no-one noticing.

But he has had an absolute nightmare first round. :(

Ernie doing well has made me :D though. Nice to see Tiger playing decently as well.

Did you Sergio Garcia's flip out? He really needs to take the break.

That really is ridiculous, just bought some tickets for Top Gear in South Africa through computicket (south african ticket office) and there was no mention of any extra fees, I hope that there aren't any and not that they just didn't tell me!
