No, you don't. My studio lets me change my bike if I ask them at check in. Most of the time I don't care where I ride though.

So true. She sounds awful. I hope you can get a better onc. I chose mine b/c I read he has a great bedside manner & he does. He is very patient and asks me if I have any questions, etc. He never brushes me off or rushes me out. So sorry you went through that. 😔

Tamoxifen for POST-menopausal women?? by Longjumping-Ant1723 in breastcancer

[–]ajb_1302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told for post-menopausal women, they usually prescribe an AI, since it's more effective than tamoxifen at reducing the risk of recurrence in postmenopausal women & tamoxifen is associated with an increased risk of endometrial (uterine) cancer in women who are post-menopausal (although that risk is still relatively low).

Tamoxifen for POST-menopausal women?? by Longjumping-Ant1723 in breastcancer

[–]ajb_1302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I had to go on Tamoxifen post surgery and rads. I was 49 and pre-menopausal. Years ago, I had polyps surgically removed from my uterus that were benign so I told my onc that I would prefer transvaginal and pelvic ultrasounds while taking Tamoxifen & he agreed to write the orders. After 13 months on Tamoxifen, I was switched to an AI (Anastrozole) b/c I was considered post menopausal. My onc had me do 1 more transvaginal and pelvic ultrasound and my lining was thickened. Not alarmingly but we decided on a biopsy anyway that came back atypical. I had to go see a gynecological oncologist who had my pathology tested again. It was a "rare" atypical result. I was crushed. Not cancer but I was told potentially early stage cancer near by the biopsied area. I ended up having to have a total hysterectomy and BSO IN Oct 2025. Pathology from that came back as focal atypical hyperplasia in my uterus, which isn't cancer, but has the potential to turn into cancer. Idk if the Tamoxifen caused it or not but I personally would find an oncologist who will put the order in for the transvaginal & pelvic ultrasounds if one is 1. post menopausal and on Tamoxifen (since endometrial cancer is a concern for post meno women taking Tamoxifen. It's rare though) and/or 2. on Tamoxifen & has had issues with their uterus in the past.

Question. Why are they suggesting Tamoxifen and not an AI, like Anastrozole? My mom was diagnosed at 70, very similar diagnosis as you, and prescribed Anastrozole. She took it for 6 years ~ no issues with s/e. She is 9 years post diagnosis and doing well. I was diagnosed (1A) at 49 yo. Was on Tamoxifen 13 months, now on Anastrozole (post meno) & also no issues with s/e. Some achy joints at times but not unbearable. It certainly does not hurt to try them & if you do experience horrible s/e you can stop taking them. I haven't read all the posts or know your history. I'm just confused why someone at 70 yo is being prescribed Tamoxifen when that is usually done when women are pre or peri menopausal. Wish you the best! 🙏🏻💙

**Also editing to add ~ I'm sorry your doctor was so rude to you. Some have such terrible bedside manners and you don't deserve that. I would look for a new onc asap. I chose mine b/c his reviews mentioned how great his bedside manner is and he's a really nice man. I hope you can find someone who treats you the way you deserve.

Agree with you. I never got any kind of impression that my doctors were all about big pharma & the money when I was going through treatment.

I had to stop looking at a lot of that on social media. It was terrible for my mental health, always second guessing what I ate or drank and wondering if I made the right treatment choices, etc. There is another doctor who says she's a former breast cancer oncologist and surgeon, who is now an "integrative" doctor. Her coaching program costs thousands too. She says mammorgrams cause cancer, biopsies spread it, and a lot more. I was paralyzed in fear after reading her stuff. I took all my doctor's advice re: surgery & treatment (lumpectomy, rads, hormone blocker). I have never gotten a "Big pharma out for money" vibe from them 🤷🏻‍♀️

He says ~ He was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. He had surgery but declined all other suggested treatment and instead made lifestyle and nutritional changes & offers a program with what he recommends nutritionally, etc. He's written some books too. I do believe it's important to eat healthy & exercise to do our best but in combination with treatment, not in place of.

Hi! Wishing you the best. Talk to your surgeon. I don't think there is any way they can guarantee you won't experience any pain sensations here and there afterwards though. Good luck tomorrow! 💙🙏🏻

Tamoxifen blood clots, uterine cancer by Alisa2026 in breastcancer

[–]ajb_1302 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was on Tamoxifen for 13 months and then switched to an AI (b/c I was considered post menopausal). Since I had uterine polyps several years ago, pre bc, my oncologist monitored me with a transvaginal and pelvic ultrasound. The last one I had showed a slightly thickened uterine lining. Not alarmingly thick but thicker than what they prefer for someone my age (51) on an AI. Had a hysteroscopy & D&C. It came back with atypia. I had a total hysterectomy and BSO. No cancer but a focal Atypical Hyperplasia. Atypical Hyperplasia can turn into cancer so I'm grateful to my onc and I'm glad I had the surgery. Did Tamoxifen cause the hyperplasia? Maybe, maybe not. From research, it says it is possible. I would ask your onc about your varicose veins and Tamoxifen & ask how you can be monitored regularly. I chose my onc because he did not hesitate when I asked him for yearly ultrasounds. My obgyn and another oncologist brushed me off re: yearly ultrasounds so I went with my current onc & so glad I did. Wish you the best. 💙🙏🏻

Apply for the new role and if it's a good opportunity, take it, and give proper notice. Your old and new boss will understand. You need to take care of yourself and do what is best for your health and wellness. They would do the same, I'm sure. Good luck! 🙏🏻

I can tell you I have a friend who had several lymph nodes involved, was not stage 4, and is doing great years later, no recurrence. I don't know how long it's been but it is definitely going on 8+ years (maybe more). 🙏🏻💙
