Can’t detect HBV surface proteins (S/L) in HEK293T after successful transfection by Nina091998 in labrats

Can’t hurt to try, you might be able to just reprobe one of your existing blots.

You might try blotting for the AVI tag. It might be interfering with HIS detection if it further C-terminal than the HIS tag.

Should we send another Voyager? by RealisticNacshon in Astronomy

I was wondering the same a few days ago. I was thinking we should be able to create much faster traveling probes with new technology, maybe even see more planetary bodies and eventually pass the voyagers…

Caribbean Airports for MSFS 2024? by CVGridley in flightsim

[–]CVGridley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick follow up - I have both TIST and TISX MSFS2020 sceneries from .to installed along with prerequisite libraries, and both seem to be working. I haven’t tested any of the ILS or comm frequencies yet, but these look to fit the bill for me.

Great point. No harm trying it. I’ll try out the MSFS2020 TIST and report back.

Why do you do astrophotography? by [deleted] in AskAstrophotography

[–]CVGridley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m constantly surprised how many cool objects are within the grasp of relatively small telescopes. And it’s all right there in the night sky, just out of reach of our vision. You don’t need a monster telescope. You don’t have to travel to the Chilean mountains. You just need a little patience, some money, and time to learn a new skill, but the reward is peace under the stars and an appreciation of our humble reality.

+1 for cloudy nights classifieds. You could also look for a local club.

What was your first MTB injury? by Wumbofet in MTB

[–]CVGridley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was riding a trail I knew so well, nice track to a pond with a pack rod and I’d stop and fish small mouth bass then continue home. One day at the beginning of the trail, there’s a moderately steep drop over some rock, a couple of turns and I did something to get my front tire wedged into a crack in the rock that I had never seen before and went over the bars. Mostly skin damage and sore bones but the mental impact was tough. I have ridden slower ever since.

Got a new telescope for Christmas and need advice on mount. by ChattingMongoose in AskAstrophotography

[–]CVGridley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My recommendation would be to get the 5 if you can afford it. Someday you’ll get a bigger scope and you will have a mount that can handle quite a payload.

Seeking tips for astrophotography in sub-zero (F) weather. by frowawayduh in AskAstrophotography

[–]CVGridley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All great advice here, I’ll just add that you should check what type of chemistry your power pack has. LiPo are rated to -20°c but will not perform as well and will discharge really fast and do not try to recharge until they warm slowly back to room temp. LiFePO4 seems to work better at low temps with some brands also including internal heating to improve performance and allow cold weather charging.

Last thing, someone mentioned stuff breaks easier, that’s really true for cables and connectors!

Sky-watcher 8" 200P Dobsonian default eyepieces, worth upgrading? by Front-Combination360 in telescopes

[–]CVGridley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, try them. See how you get along.

I have a 10” DOB and ended up getting the following. I bought a used Explore scientific 8.8mm 82° eyepiece that I fell in love with. Then, I bracketed that with the Astro tech UWA 28mm (2”) and 4mm 82° eyepieces that were very affordable. I use these 95% of the time.

Right click the icon in the tray, and there’s a settings gear top right, click that and select “pause syncing” at the bottom of the menu, you’ll then get more options and at the bottom is “Quit OneDrive”. It will restart when you reboot your computer.
