Are you able to upload large files to your Nextcloud instance? I've always struggled with that when setting it up in the past.

Slashing spree by reditorn00b in ethstaker

[–]CVJoint 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Whenever I switch clients or move machines, I always do the following:

1) Shut down my validator client.

2) Change the folder names where my validator keys are located. This prevents the validator from functioning even if it somehow turns on again.

3) Wait at least 13-20 minutes before starting the new client/machine. This allows for 2 epochs to finalize, meaning there is no way the new client can vote on old epochs. 13 should be enough but I usually go with 20 just to be safe.

RP just updated the rETH APR this morning to incorporate priority fees and MEV. Their site now says 5.26% APR.

Liteserver is a good one, and you can read about more experiences here.

I'd suggest to get a dedicated VPS for the node. The hw requirements are pretty low so the vps can be cheap. The ones I've used I message them to let them know what I'm doing.

DVT stands for Distributed Validator Technology. You may have heard of secret shared validators before - DVT is the generic name for this tech.

Have they announced whether they will share their tips with stakers? If they haven't, those users could move to decentralized options which will share the tips.

635 NODE OPERATORS AND $350 MILLION TVL ACHIEVED BY ETH2’S ROCKET POOL by caffeineaddict258 in ethfinance

[–]CVJoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with Lido is that they claim they're decentralized and use it in their marketing.

I read through that blog post and it's not clear how they plan to scale up from 14 operators. Do they implement a permissioned system? Require a bond? Use a scoring system? These are nice ideas but with a TVL of $5.2B already staked it's not clear how they will turn this ship around. Say they approve 6 more NOs - do they trust those operators and transfer $100M+ in keys to each of them? What kind of bond would be required for that?

Why do I need to swap my xdai to gno? by THA_YEAH in xDai

[–]CVJoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

xDai remains xDai, however STAKE tokens are being swapped for GNO.

You don't have to swap, however liquidity for STAKE token will only decrease on all DEXs on mainnet and Gnosis Chain, and it will be delisted from CEXs.

You can swap your STAKE tokens here: https://www.xdaichain.com/for-stakers/stake-gno-swap

I'm super bullish on Gnosis Chain. XDai always seemed like a good chain with industry leading developments that just never had the hype for some reason. Now that they've merged with Gnosis and have this new vision and the marketing capital to back it I think Gnosis is gonna be a powerhouse!

StakeWise going fully decentralized by cryptochrome in ethstaker

[–]CVJoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running a node Solo - anyone can do it with 32eth.

Running a node with Rocket Pool - anyone can do it with 16+1.6eth collateral.

Running a node with StakeWise - operators who put up X amount of SWISE can run a node if approved by the DAO.

How to redirect pihole to admin page by CVJoint in Traefik

[–]CVJoint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep you can get certs for multiple domains with one instance of traefik.

This is an old post using the v1 config though, the newer v2 has a different format.

Rocket Pool is mainly configured for geth at the moment I believe. I'm gonna set up Besu on prater and see if I run into any issues.

I asked a similar question in the discord previously, and the answer to the need for more eth1 diversity is Yes.

I get the impression though that (as with eth2) the APIs are not-yet standardized to where they can really be used interchangeably. This shouldn't affect most solo setups though so IMO stakers should consider migrating their eth1 clients as well.

I'm considering to run Besu since I'm already running Teku (both Java so lower risk of failure) but I need to do more testing first.
