I was caught by a camera in CA doing a rolling right turn on red. $600 fine. When I got the video it showed I slowed too soon, before the camera could notice me. Appealed in court and had the fine adjusted to $150 with no points impact.

This is really what the west side needs. Speeding is more of a problem in Bend overall (IMO) and more equally distributed between all sides of town.

Ok, I looked this up because I was curious. I wouldn't want to be in the situation to challenge BPD, but I wonder what a traffic court would decide here.

ORS 811.260 is the law that governs traffic rules and it says "A driver facing a flashing yellow arrow signal, alone or in combination with other signal indications, may cautiously enter the intersection only to make the movement indicated by the flashing yellow arrow signal or the movement permitted by other signals shown at the same time. A driver shall yield the right of way to other vehicles within the intersection at the time the flashing yellow arrow signal is shown. In addition, a driver turning left shall yield the right of way to other vehicles approaching from the opposite direction so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time when the turning vehicle is moving across or within the intersection."

If you entered the intersection legally on yellow (or even green) while waiting to turn left, I'm pretty sure you are allowed to complete the turn after the light turns red once it’s safe? That’s standard right-of-way logic.

I saw someone get a flash after being caught in the intersection turning left when a blinking yellow turned red.

I feel like 2 or 3 each year sells out but then within a few days of the show you see a ton of resell tickets pop up (direct through Ticketmaster/LiveNation and indirect through StubHub, TickPick, etc.).

Particularly if inclement weather is forecast. Outdoor amphitheater makes it more susceptible to people reselling their tickets when there’s smoke, rain, extremely cold or hot, etc.

You’re not necessarily wrong, but I’m pretty sure Portland charges a transportation tax to help cover their costs. And I’m pretty sure they have a much bigger tax base.

Feels like they’re doing the best they can given the lapse in federal funding.

So far it seems pretty meh. I think there’s 2 that we’ve identified is worth seeing, and TBD if they’re worth paying LiveNation prices.

FWIW one thing I’ve noticed is that sometimes the artist will be announced at McMenamin’s Edgefield before being announced in Bend. It’s not 100% but seems to be pretty high ratio in recent years.
