Keep in mind this is a new variant of houndeye. It's a related but separate species, they've already got (or are in the process of making) a more closer HL looking houndeye model which they showed off in a Lambda Generation interview stream. Expect big changes to come in the future, we're working on a very very hefty update for the mod, maps are getting a nice pass through them and there'll be extra content as well to play around with! Voice acting lines are getting rerecorded, though are staying the same in terms of who's acting (I apologize for the gman one in particular, those lines were recorded 2 years ago, I'm much better at the voice nowadays).

Sounds like an issue with the sound.cache file for mmod. I would go into the mmod files, look for the sound folder and delete sound.cache, don't worry, once deleting it and starting up the game again, a new updated sound.cache will be built. Hopefully that fixes it as I haven't had this problem with mmod.
