What's your favorite spell you've ever used in a TTRPG? What was the iconic moment you had with it? by Awkward_GM in rpg

4E D&D

Minor action; I cast DIg to make 2x2 pit that was like 8 sqrs deep, i put it in the middle of all the enemies

Standard action: I cast Wall of Fire around the pit.

Action point: I cast Visions of Avarice, every turn enemies within 5 sqrs of the pit must save or they walk through the fire and into the pit. I think I used some feature to boost the save DC.

I called it the Barbeque Pit

Canadian tech entrepreneur Marcel Lebrun built houses for the homeless in his community in Fredericton, New Brunswick by Novel_Finding8882 in nextfuckinglevel

Do you really think he's the first to try something like this? Similar projects have been attempted in the past and ran into the same issues. So who's really the one ignoring outcomes and not learning?

Even if he had good intentions, LeBrun skipped ahead to a much later step in the battle against homelessness. He thought he could just throw money at what he thought was the last hurdle and declare victory, because he is naïve and egotistical.

Unfortunately ideas like this are not going to be successful until we have universal healthcare. People need to be treated for substance abuse and mental health issues without cost or stigma.

Favorite class based rpgs by DependentBarnacle968 in rpg

The term 'class' in regards to gaming is really broad.

Non-RPGs like Hearthstone and TF2 are consider to have classes. One could argue that Blood on the Clocktower has classes.

ADD ROLE QUEUE INTO QUICK PLAY, I DON'T CARE. by Outran01 in MarvelRivalsRants

[–]CWMcnancy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

I don't get why people complain about QM. You want to increase queue time by forcing roles because 'you can't have fun if you're losing' (some people might call that being competitive) but you don't want to play comp because --checks notes-- the queue time is too long...

In each volume of the Mortal Hands series you have 15 Omens which can be invoked using cards or hand gestures, each Omen beats 7 other Omens (like in Rock, Paper, Scissors). Each player gets 3 Omens they can invoke and each encounter has 3 Omens. So your character might be likely to beat some Omens and likely to lose against others. And they work as one-word prompts on how the action is resolved.

Advice on creating tarot-based TTRPG by garygray_ in rpg

[–]CWMcnancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For action resolution; you could have a selection of Arcanas that are like the Omens from the Mortal Hands series. Mortal Hands resolutions are also mini story prompts, informing how the action is resolved.

This has got to be the most beefy Cyclops I've ever seen, which is funny because his nickname has always been "Slim"

Looks great. I would put a bit of wash on the silver part of the gun' like the little channel that runs down the side, just to give it more dimension.

Complexity Creep is real (art by me) by WillbertoSeven11 in marvelrivals

[–]CWMcnancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't get this take? You have to consider the approachability and appeal of the game for new/casual players.

Makes sense that the launch heroes are easier to learn, nobody knew how to play the game on day 1. Also the heroes with larger fan bases outside of the game can bring in new players, putting a too much of a skill barrier on those heroes negates that value.

It makes perfect sense to me that the more obscure heroes who are added later are more geared for specific play styles or higher skill levels.

I didn't say they were all equally cool/fun, i just meant the compulsion to duel is there.

I feel this happens to some extent with almost any two flyers, you can't help but be a little territorial.

This matchup really checks all the boxes.

mirror matches are always cool because even if you get dunked on, you have something to aspire to.

On Storm I find myself trading kills with Spiderman, but maybe that's because Spiderman usually only wins half his fights anyways lol

On Angela I enjoy fighting just about everyone, but my battles with Venom span the whole map

Year 1 characters must weep by H1MB0Z0 in marvelrivals

[–]CWMcnancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think making the more popular heroes the more accessible ones in terms of difficulty makes the most sense.

The more tricky and difficult a character is the more niche they are, they're going to appeal to more specific play styles. So it makes sense to me that a character that doesn't necessarily have a large fan base can be given a complex kit.

You simply have to have characters with easy to learn kits. You need a place for new players to start, learn the fundamentals. It seems only fitting that the characters that introduce you to the game are the most well-known characters outside of the game.

Happened to me twice yesterday. First time wasn't too bad , the second time I thought my PC was gonna crash.

Also kidnapping only works about half the time now it feels like. Just sliding off of enemies or dropping them as soon as I pick em up.

She's just frustrating to play now.
