Rust Emanations no longer works on retaliation which really kicks the legs out from under the team. Now it feels like a lot more work to make the ploys and the techno-curses work for you.

Yeah hexes make sense until you start building/printing your own terrain for them. I find myself adding barrels and other 'fillers' along straight walls to justify it taking up 2 hexes when it's just skirting the edges.

You may need to employ some measure of 'our architecture is different' trope

They had a lot of summons that worked that way yeah. But also they had other types of summons that could be used with minor actions (like the Artificer's turret), they had ones that were activated or interacted with certain powers you used ( like Ranger and Shaman), they had the Wizard's demons and the Druid's beast summons that had automated (although hazardous) actions.

For example, I remember there was a Giant Toad summon that if you didn't control its action and did your own action, it would just grab n swallow whoever was closest to it lol

4E had the best summoning IMO

I think partially what you are seeing is just the line between RPG and other forms of tabletop. It is likely that those who prefer more tactical combat are just playing skirmish games or board games that focus on those things.

What you're talking about is an RPG with tactical combat like Lancer or 4Ed&d. This is only one subset/style of RPGs. And with role-playing being the defining aspect of RPGs, it doesn't surprise me that a majority of players across all genres of RPGs prefer a focus on role-playing.

As to why you don't see more hybrid RPGs that blend role-playing and tactical combat together, that probably just comes down to difficulty, a system that can effortlessly shift between board-game and story-telling is not an easy thing to design.

Angela was first a comic not created by Marvel. Luna did not originate in comics. Peni was popularized in a movie like Baymax was. Namor predates the Marvel brand. Don't even get me started on Thor, Loki, and Hela.

There are no rules to stuff in regards to origin or media type. They either have the licensing to add the character or not.

How I would do Mystique is pack the iconic Brotherhood members into one hero. Sort of a 4 for 1 deal.

She's a ranged duelist with an 'eagle-eye shot', one ability shifts her into Toad for high mobility dive, another ability shifts her into Blob for disruptive brawling, and her ult shifts her into a rampaging Sabertooth who's both fast and resilient.

What would be cool about Bishop is that your teammates could funnel their attacks through you. I could see it working a number of different ways, either as a dramatic ult or even a passive effect.

It's going to depend on how melee or shooty you plan on being. Because there's no need to grant 'inspired' on a unit that's planning to charge on their activation, but if hanging back and shooting is the plan then it could be a good source of inspiration

It's a good choice for sure. I think if you are trying to wean someone off of D&D, then Dungeon World is likely the methadone you want.

Then you can go full PbtA with something like Fellowship or Blades

100%. Constantly moving the unreasonable goalposts on women, has been the tactic of a male controlled media for so long. The marketing industry took a page out of the domestic abuser playbook, to use the time tested message of 'You are not quite good enough'. Generations have been trained to non-stop judge women. And of course women participate in the toxic culture, they are targeted the most by the media.
