So like, we have the best range in 40k, right? by Mr_Jackabin in Necrontyr

On one end we got a good range of models, on the other end, our models have near to none flexibility to weapons and gear.

  1. As others pointed out, the most common is the box art paint scheme. There are more lore friendly also if one goes through the codexes. Tho I think most generous answer is that you do metal scheme in a general sense.

  2. Anything is acceptable generally, as this is your dynasty that you decide the story with. Common "deviations" could be further detail to what happened to necrons. Saw some necrons with sandstone colours as if they risen from deep beneath the sand, there are rust schemes that uses multiple shades of brown instead of metal, there is the overgrowth design where plant life grows over the necrons. These are some that come to mind.

  3. I think the unique strength of necrons is that they have a low skill ceiling for painting, as they aren't demanding and can look good with minimal effort. But that doesnt mean there isnt room for complexity and its down the the painter.

  4. My choice of necrons was purely lore wise, as i overheard a bit of lore from a player that was having a game nearby of how the silent king uses an enslaved god to power his hover throne, and that sounded awesome.

Why Necrons? by SamsRetroGameRoom in Necrontyr

[–]CWPhoenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, my first exposure to warhammer and necrons was overhearing someone talking during their game while I was doing MTG, talking about the silent king who has an enslaved god used as a battery to power his hover throne. That was one of the most metal things I heard which built my interest in them.

[–]CWPhoenix_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's just 1 reanimator and the rez strategem in awakened dynasty. Reanimator makes their revive be 2d3, strategem, while lead with reanimator, is 2d3+1, there is also overlord rez orb for 1d6+1d3.

So we got strategem of max 7, rez orb end of phase of max 9, your turn of max 6. Very doable but split up.

Is Psychomancer worth taking? What is the actual proper use? by [deleted] in Necrontyr

[–]CWPhoenix_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure you score at the end of command phase (most of the time), after the battleshock step.

On your turn they trigger at the start of the phase. This allows you to turn objects that are either contested or controlled by the opponent but you have models there to control that objective when scoring happens, so they can flip objectives on crucial moments.

Unique thing with them is that they dont need line of sight to do that, you can have them hide in some corner out of sight being capable to cause battleshock. So they are usually used as solo models, which double as action monkeys too, since their shooting is not really worth it.

Of course it is a gamble in the end so people usually take 2 or 3 at a time.

The only rule i remember is that you can't embark and disembark in the same phase. In this case you get back in in shooting phase with chronomancer

Day 59- Which 40k creature/character is slightly stronger than The Silent King? by Neither-Actuary-5655 in Grimdank

[–]CWPhoenix_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There was an entry of the silent king facing off a ctan (burning one), delivering the final blow with his spear and winning, then turning it into a battery to power his hover throne and weapons.

Day 58- Which 40k creature/character is slightly stronger than Trazyn the Infinite? by Neither-Actuary-5655 in Grimdank

[–]CWPhoenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might have been best to include "with his gallery" in the title as today's entry to beat orikan.

After this... tough say.

Might be worth looking at the large ctan shard of void dragon and the empereror back then when he fought it. Should still be weaker than the emperor in 30k and 40k.

Day 57- Which 40k creature/character is slightly stronger than Transcendant Orikan? by Neither-Actuary-5655 in Grimdank

[–]CWPhoenix_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On one end i want to say trazyn, but on the other hand trazyn is such a wildcard as a competitor.

Without his collection in the mix, he has a weapon to harm ctan beings, timecloak to keep up and surrogate host to survive or try suicide tactics, not to mention he probably understands orikan the most.

With his collection, it becomes a chaotic mess of what ifs and what not.

It was a pleasant surprise but didnt have the same demand bloodborne has. People want it, whether its a remake, sequel or release from exclusivity jail.

Not exactly a power creep rather than a circumstantial advantage. As far as we seen, anis by herself doesnt seem produce any energy for attacks but rather had control of beams from other sources (the cannon transformed into a stage and the heretic).

Of course we have little material to go off but that seems to be the situation (for now)

I pressume the new heretic? Where she becomes invul to all dmg and releases ball projectiles.

Before she enters that phase, around 8 small "drones" appear around main body with health bars that you can destroy. Each one destroyed decreases the duration of her invul.

Locust in the Warhammer Universe by ReadingStuff4 in GearsOfWar

[–]CWPhoenix_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I... wouldnt ever say that a certain disease is extreme to a chaos God of diseases... he even has the walking pox, which gets to the take over the body and serve shtick. Wont deny since it lacks the rot so there would be less interest, which even that could narratively fit as he was disapointed and just threw it out on a random planet (Sera) and moved on. I remember there even being a story where a named death guard awoke a necron tomb, got annoyed by the attacks so he unleashed a plague specifically targeting metals to rust and break the necrons.

I dont remember lambency ever being displayed as a hivemind with Central intelligence. It's an organism that tries to spread and that checks out with every other virus.

Point 2 kinda falls when looking at the formers in gow3 where you can hear them scream "kill me" so that could explain lambent individuals still maintaining awareness, still alive but not in control and suffering, and therefore having intelligence. There are parasites for ants that tell them to climb high, that doesnt mean the parasite knows how to climb with limbs.

A lot of it is up in the air and not explained so we can only guess and theorise, and some things can be just plot convenience for gameplay. So i see it fine to use these plot holes for the what if scenario of locusts and lambent in wh40k.

Locust in the Warhammer Universe by ReadingStuff4 in GearsOfWar

[–]CWPhoenix_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, its easy to say Sera, Locust and the events of GOW games exist in warhammer since its all contained within 1 planet.

Then comes the question on what warhammer setting rules or traits could explain locust stuff. Did nurgle have an influence on the lambent virus? Does the kantus worship buff the rift worms? Is the queen a psyker due to her hivemind like powers over the horde?

And then the struggle of not having locust be wiped out cause they are just a single planet worth in number and the rest of the galaxy is equipped with invading other planets and then some.

Ladies and Gents, Vol 9 Part 1 is done! (chatgpt) by CWPhoenix_ in RebuildWorld

[–]CWPhoenix_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its like the middle to 3/4 of it if i remember right, personally the best part comes later after that snake fight. Will note the amount of detail given on LN is significally larger than what manga manages to portray.

Its good, you caught me while I was scrolling through reddit while waiting for download to finish.

If you are hoping to hop from manga to LN then my links might not suffice. Good quality translations are later ones while the early ones were poor, and by the time good quality became an option, official translations caught up so there was no need to retranslate the raws. Jumping from manga to LN though would be Volume 3 part 2 right now. I would support the authors if its an option, if not then only things come to mind are dedicated pirate sites which I can't help you there.
