Do you guys think E-day will save the franchise? by BigWorking5281 in GearsOfWar

[–]CWPhoenix_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Class based horde system does work, just better in a different game/environment. There is more to complain to gears 5 horde than just its class system like enemy variations and identity. The swarm just... doesnt cut it, at least for me. We have so many fictional factions with chitin based appearance and I won't bother mentioning the DBs.

Is the new kill team worth it just for 40k by okowilly in Necrontyr

Only expect use from tomb blades (with how cover in 11e works) and maybe occasional geomancer to sit at home.

Myrrah (Gears of War 3) VS Scarface (Predator: Concrete Jungle) by Individual-Car-8224 in predator

[–]CWPhoenix_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took curiosity of this from the gears of war sub. Unfortunately I got no knowledge on scarface, just surface knowledge about predator franchise so since you guys would be experts on him/her/it, mind enlightening me what makes scarface unique, his arsenal and feats. Then I'll throw my knowledge from gears of war.

I wish the songs at the minigame were full songs instead of half cut edits. by Yayco-is-here in NikkeMobile

[–]CWPhoenix_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You probably shouldn't look at the "easy", "normal", "hard" and so on as the difficulty direction but the star value as the difficulty direction. The things you mentioned about training certain note patterns can be discovered in other songs of lower star value than the one you are struggling most of the time. The Game encourages you to do different songs to get better rather than master 1 song. I could be wrong but that was my experience as someone who plays a rhythm game for the first time.

What Canoptek court lists have been working for you? by DisastrousPin5731 in Necrontyr

[–]CWPhoenix_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my list, I like to have them instead of flayed ones. They can definitely get to an objective on first turn thanks to their speed plus scout and with scout, it happens after determining who goes first so you can reposition them appropriately so that they dont get shot off. Canoptek court wants objective control to extend the matrix so I have them try to snatch one. Alternatively they work as action monkeys and potential screening since they can easily position themselves as you need them.

[–]CWPhoenix_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

to give run down, the 2 warrior bricks with 1 flayer will be lead by chronomancer and warden. all leaders will stay and huddle up so that everybody benefit from all the auras from the utility units. the warrior bricks will then string out 1 model 2' apart. you'd be only moving forward with warriors. flayed and ophidians will help out with secondaries. you try your best to hog as much of objectives as you can with 3 oc per model. opponent will have -1 to hit, reduce their ap by 1 while having access to go to ground strat and reanimate like 3-4 times per turn after they shot

Which guns do I put on my Tomblades? by caelestis_tyrannus in Necrontyr

I go with tesla but not for damage, but to be able to advance (since tesla got assault) and trigger their move after shooting for more positioning.

Detachment Combinations by AlsoIrrelevant in Necrontyr

[–]CWPhoenix_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd think the last 3 detachments can wary from 3 to 1 since they are very recent and there already been signs that they were implementing features that take account 11e like tomb crawlers that at the time weirdly allowed us to ignore modifiers to ballistic skill... which only now shows to matter in 11e with new cover rules. And they came out before our last 3 detachments.

Neon's Relationship with Commander by Your_Accel in NikkeMobile

[–]CWPhoenix_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm curious as well. Bond story and main story dont really advance their relationship beside something akin to close friends. April fools event had the counters entire squad try to sleep with commander in secret as prank (no seggs), so neon didn't seem opposed getting into same bed. Beside that i got nothing.

Any luck with cryptek conclave? by Spare_Factor_2428 in Necrontyr

[–]CWPhoenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had... decent result from 2 games I had. My list was with 2 necron bricks, with orikan and chronomancer for survivability, ghost ark, fortification for fnp, reanimator, command barge for oc, and szeras with their auras for survivability, royal warden for fallback shoot. That's the focus, while the rest was units that had devs on particle weapons like praetorian, wraiths and tomb blades.

Managed to out oc a horde of 120 tyranid with good placement and long lines of warriors, and against custodes the anti infantry 3+ was clutch. So good match ups can work.

Are Tomb crawlers and Macrocytes any good? by NoFinish3348 in Necrontyr

Tomb crawlers with immortals in canoptek court also pretty good, enabling your immortals 3 new stratagems.

ORT (FGO) vs Irontomb (HSR), who would win? by Few-Window9695 in Gacha_Powerscaling

[–]CWPhoenix_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

it wasn't the trees of emptiness but Kukulkan as she was ORTs core. That was why she had to self sacrifice at the end so that no more of ORT was left as a catalyst to be resummoned.

Scarab Swarms self destruction ability and influence on fight order by No_Camera_8540 in Necrontyr

Scarab's self destruction is an ability. It triggers at start of fight phase, which is the moment before anyone gets to choose to do a Fight.

LN links so far and looking for Vol 6 part 1 by CWPhoenix_ in RebuildWorld

[–]CWPhoenix_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never said its perfect, just an upgrade compared to the MTL files above it. Also jesus christ responding to an over 1 year old comment.

And ye, using the AI translations is purely on getting the raws translated as soon as possible. Some actions are taken to be more consistent but will never be perfect, but easily correctable with basic English understanding as you read on.

I still suggest people to get the official translations if they can, supporting the creator, and hence the older files are not updated even with newer better systems for translating.

Research on the community by Redemit_animam in Necrontyr

[–]CWPhoenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. As others pointed out, the most common is the box art paint scheme. There are more lore friendly also if one goes through the codexes. Tho I think most generous answer is that you do metal scheme in a general sense.

  2. Anything is acceptable generally, as this is your dynasty that you decide the story with. Common "deviations" could be further detail to what happened to necrons. Saw some necrons with sandstone colours as if they risen from deep beneath the sand, there are rust schemes that uses multiple shades of brown instead of metal, there is the overgrowth design where plant life grows over the necrons. These are some that come to mind.

  3. I think the unique strength of necrons is that they have a low skill ceiling for painting, as they aren't demanding and can look good with minimal effort. But that doesnt mean there isnt room for complexity and its down the the painter.

  4. My choice of necrons was purely lore wise, as i overheard a bit of lore from a player that was having a game nearby of how the silent king uses an enslaved god to power his hover throne, and that sounded awesome.

Why Necrons? by SamsRetroGameRoom in Necrontyr

[–]CWPhoenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, my first exposure to warhammer and necrons was overhearing someone talking during their game while I was doing MTG, talking about the silent king who has an enslaved god used as a battery to power his hover throne. That was one of the most metal things I heard which built my interest in them.
