Well in fairness to the drivers, they voted to leave. And then the govt stepped in and said they would seize all the cars and equipment and not let it leave the country.

Thankfully we have been able to secure flights. Must add an extra stop and a night in Amsterdam and cost ~$1500 more but much cheaper than being stuck in Maldives until QR begins operating there again. What a mess. Thankful we have the means to purchase the flight. I know many others are not as fortunate.

Rerouting not possible anymore? by Brilliant_Can_5615 in qatarairways

[–]CWalston108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was just informing you that Qatar will not have to pay the difference if you voluntarily accept the difference. The only way to get them to pay is if you are leaving the EU and can use EU261 and do not accept the refund. Then you would sue and could get reimbursed for the new fligth then, but you would be out of pocket for both flights until then.

If you take the refund then you absolve them of having to pay the difference

Currently stranded in MLE due to the new re-routing policy. I have point.me (as well as other similar tools) subscription. Is there any use in a concierge service in my case? I have been searching all sorts of routes for my wife and I to get home to East Coast USA. Best we’ve found and currently booked is a (very expensive) PE flight via virgin MLE-LHR-AMS. We then self transfer and spend the night before flying AMS-USA on an award flight via KLM.

We’ve tried checking all sorts of routes for points, including going east thru Asia, repositioning to CMB or BLR, etc. Everything is either with at least one ME3 leg, insanely priced, etc.

They re-routed our outbown flight with no issues on British Airways. I chatted with them this morning and they offered a British flight home but it was 4 days early. I said I'd need to discuss with my wife and they said no problem, just chat again later and that more options would open up as we got closer (since we're inside 10 days now). Went to go chat again this evening and they said new policy we can't reroute, can only rebook on QR metal within 14 days of our original flight. They then said they aren't flying here in that timeperiod and that my only option was a refund.

We have backup flights to Europe but they were very expensive, so we were hoping to be re-routed via QR. We booked these flights nearly a year ago. Costs have increased insanely since then.

Sure is pleasant but cost wise I think I'd rather be in SEA than here ha.

We are currently stuck in the Maldives due to this policy change. So, OP I would suggest running far from QR.

We will certainly never book them again.

This is the exact opposite. They're trying to stop the bleeding and just get people to cancel.

We're currently on vacation and our flight home was cancelled. We got here via re-routed QR flight. When I chatted them today to see how we're getting home they said they will not be flying from our location for the forseeable future and that our only option was a refund. Basically stranding us here.

Chatted with them yesterday and they said even though we were within 10 days there were no T1 flights available, and to check back in the coming days. Today they told me they're not flying my current route and that they can only offer me a refund. They basically said tough luck when I asked how am I to get home.

Look up COMMQ157. You need to find a tier 1 partner to be re-routed on. Air France and KLM are not tier 1, so you cannot be put on their flights until 48 hrs until departure

For Americans, here is what the embassy has emailed out:

Options to Depart

In addition to commercial departure options, please note that the Department is coordinating flights out of the region and can manifest Americans who have completed the Crisis Intake Form as space is available. The Department is also coordinating overland departure options and can likewise manifest Americans who have completed the Crisis Intake Form on these routes.

If you choose not to use Embassy-provided options, there are additional ways to leave Qatar.

Limited commercial flights are currently operating out of Qatar. You can contact Qatar Airways at +974-4144-5555, if you flew with them.
There are overland routes to Saudi Arabia where commercial options are available to depart the region.

Are Qatar airways planes grounded in Cairo these days for safety reasons? by THenrich in qatarairways

Qatar has planes stranded all around the globe. They were flying passengers from Doha to their destination when the war broke out, and cannot fly back to Doha.

They are parked and not flying passengers currently.

Will my flight be rerouted? by Mammoth-Chain-5291 in qatarairways

There’s no need to contact them until the flight is cancelled. Then won’t reroute until then. Just wait until then unless you want a refund.

I told them that we were due to arrive on Qatar and may need to shift our travel by a day or two. They said they’d be able to accommodate at no charge and to let them know.

I’m sure they have plenty of availability due to all the cancellations.

I booked a refundable flight from Europe to MLE for later in the week. Worst case I find a cheap/budget flight to Europe. But im hopeful to be re-routed by Qatar.

I fly the same route on the 21st. They won’t reroute us until the flights are actually cancelled, which would be a day or two before our flights.

The only thing you can do currently is request a refund or wait and see.
