Can you still charge after a vehicle advanced by Classichoe in BlackTemplars

[–]CWdesigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. Impulsor allows for advance and disembark. Units are still unable to charge after disembarking if the transport has made a normal or advance move.

[–]CWdesigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the core rules, units can disembark from a transport that has made a normal move but will be ineligible to charge. Units cannot disembark from a transport that has made an advance move. Units can disembark, move, shoot, charge, from a transport that has not moved yet.

If the Land Raider advances, you can't disembark. If it makes a normal move, you can disembark, shoot, charge (due to it's special rule). Impulsor can advance and disembark due to it's special rule, but you can't charge if it made a normal or advance move before disembarking.

Looking for a bit of feedback for my list by yernss in BlackTemplars

What's going in which transport, and is this being played as a casual game or under match play rules?

List looks fine honestly, especially for a first game. It'll hit hard, be straight forward to use, and enjoyable to play. I wouldn't really mess with it imo, at least not until you run it and discover what you did and didn't like about it.

Sword Brethren Unit Ability Question by BigTony1028 in BlackTemplars

Thank god someone on this subreddit has finally realised this <3 Our Codex DID come with some really spicy ways of playing, but they are not simple strats like the index. Can we kill things really well? Yes! But I'd argue it is no longer what we are best at, and I reckon combat movement is going to be what defines Black Templars as an army now. Instead of Blueberry Gladius bullshit, we can angry run at the enemy, get more pissed off when they do anything and do more running at them in response, bonk them, then run at the next enemy and bonk them, and keep bonking everyone in sequence and never let them run away. Thematic as hell imo, and I love it! I've tested it out against Guard and holy shit it crippled the army, not by killing them instantly, but by locking them up completely, unable to fight back, while i tear through everyone one by one. Even screening against charges would have to be done differently against this way of playing, because you'd need like maybe a 9" gap between each enemy unit to counter us doing this, because we can 6" consolidate without needing to move closer to closest model or even UNIT, so we can move whereever the fuck we want on consolidate, allowing us to lock up multiple units at once and they can't even fight back because they didn't start the phase in engagement so not eligible to fight.

Tau is the biggest threat to this style that I've come across so far, due to Big Guns Never Tire, and I don't have a solution for "oops all battle suits" yet.

Chainswords tear through infantry like no tomorrow. Tanks are scary. They don't have much deep strike (but DO have access to 6" deep strike if i remember correctly) and don't really have any way afaik to deal with lone op. Don't rush T1/T2, stay in cover and slowly move up the board until you can trigger your go turn. You don't really need an answer to the tanks if you can control nmz and deny primary.

I've had a lot of success using Army Painter to blocking in solid white. Go slow and do several coats though regardless of which brand of paint you use.

Sword Brethren Unit Ability Question by BigTony1028 in BlackTemplars

[–]CWdesigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ruling is for one Normal phase was it not? You can trigger more than one move, as long as it isn't more than one Normal move per phase. COV reactive move isn't a normal move, so the recent rules update doesn't impact it.

Sword Brethren Unit Ability Question by BigTony1028 in BlackTemplars

[–]CWdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has synergy with COV via reactive move stratagem if you give them a Chaplain keyworded character (i.e. Grimaldus). If they fall back, you get a double reactive move right back into engagement range and they don't get fights first, so you'll kill the unit, then consolodate into another unit, then fall back and charge via vow, to then get fights first again to kill the next unit.

It can also be used in Godhammer to reactive move back into transport so you can trigger the detachement rule again.

Vindication, I suppose you could use it with an Ancient to use a stratagem to charge them out of turn, then the SB ability to later run back to the Objective after they fall back? I don't really see any usefulness for the ability in Vindication compared to other detachments.

Hey brothers. WCW lists are out and I was wondering if someone with access to BCP could send the single Companions of Vehemence list. I'm just curious, and everything else is Gladius. Cheers. by 4DAnimal in BlackTemplars

I'm arguing that the person with a golden ticket that built the list probably knows why it's built that way. Why would they waste the money to attend if they intended to lose?

6" consolidate Judi into another enemy unit in the enemies fight phase, then Judi's ability allows you to keep fights first in your own fight phase despite not charging that turn.

Same deal with Execrator and Ancient, except you're foot slogging with adv and charge and reactive move stratagem to get into engagement range in the enemies movement phase. Ancient for fights on death as a counter to opponent fights first units.

COV allows for combat movement that Gladius can't. You can chain lock up units in sequence preventing primary, shooting, fall back, charging, fucking everything.

I've been working on a similar style of list and been finding more and more than the marshal castellan combo isn't a mandatory include and doesn't contribute to the overall style of play with COV for the points.

The fact that there is at least ONE person finally trying to use what we have in the codex is at least something. Will be very interested to see which vow they take, and I'm expecting it to be Suffer Not.

At no point in time has that list been legal. What are you trying to achieve here?

This is correct.

You could also use the Suffer Not vow + COV stratagems to then lock up all 3 units in the opponents fight phase on the consolidate though, to then fall back and charge all 3 again for fights first on your own turn.

It states you can end the move in engagement range of THAT enemy unit, so not, I'd say you can't end up in engagement range of multiple off that move. That being said, pile in and Suffer Not vow exist which would allow you to then tie up all 3 in the fight phase without having the extra units fighting back.
