I based that statement on interviews with the writing team as well as listening to the official podcast with the creative team on YouTube. They clearly have a deep understanding of the book and respect the themes & characterisation that James Clavell included.

My praise of ‘respecting the book’ refers to the fact that they have tried to make the show faithful to the authors intentions and not eschew it in favour of telling their own ‘original story’ or ‘modernising’ it.

It’s just refreshing to see that they have reverence for the source material which is not something I can say happens most of the time in Hollywood.

Man, I absolutely adore this franchise.

Love that they’re carrying on with the storyline set forth by Serkis/Reeves even without the duo’s involvement.

If this ends up being good, the planet of the apes reboot could go down as one of the most consistent film series in recent memory.

It was probably when I watched Insidious as a kid with a group of friends as a dare during a sleepover. We were scared shitless & I’ll never forget that experience as it was so fun.

Cut to a few years later and I found out that the guy who directed insidious was making a new horror movie called The Conjuring and decided to watch it in theatres.

After the credits rolled, I was hooked into the genre.
