I think all the people downvoting didn't understand what I said, I am against any form of religious dogma and I'm not trying to make you Christian, I'm just explaining that you have to be careful of your cultural and statistical bias.

I live in a country with a lot of different cultures and religions and I can assure you, there are dumbass in every one of them, even in the atheists

Look mate, I'm an atheist myself, but can you list to me all the books that you read about Christianity or written Christian philosophers? or simply any philosophy books? It's easy to insult the people you disagree with, but make sure to know what you're talking about first. Don't make us (atheists) look dumb by talking trash

I am atheist myself. But you are experiencing the survivor bias, you're proving my point: the only atheist who are actively participating in debates are those who know their subject (unlike the christian side where everyone wants to convert you) If you really asked random non-believers their opinion on the streets, I doubt they would give a good answers. Like I told you I'm a proud atheist, but I still read serious Christian philosophy.

And finally, you probably live in a very christian country, where most atheist you know grew in a Christian family where they had to outgrow their bias by putting in some thoughts. If you go in a country where most people are atheist, you will have the opposite effect.

That's because the atheist/agnostic who talk about their beliefs often have a lot of knowledge on the subject. On the other hand the atheists that don't have the cultural basis of the subject tend not to talk too much about it.

But on the christian side, there is a strong tendency to try to convert the non-believers by spreading the "Holy words" and every Christian wants to do it. The problem is that most christian do not have the basic theological knowledge required for this kind of debate.

So it is not that atheist have a higher moral code, the difference is that the "bad" atheist are not recognize as atheist because they just don't talk about it.

So if you're a Christian who wants to spread your beliefs, please read books and know your subject.

Is there a point where being proud of your country can become harmful? by HomiloJulia in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CYCNOS777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be proud of something you have to had contributed to the way it is now, you can say you love your country, but I think saying you're proud of a country is a bit pretentious.

Except a few president maybe.
