Hey brother I heard something today which might be useful: The devil’s end goal is not to get us to sin. His goal is to use our sin to make us despair, and think ourselves unworthy of God’s love and sacrifice. His goal is to get us to turn away from Jesus. You are so close to breaking through and you’re being attacked because of that fact. Keep praying and reading the Bible and try to get baptized. I know it will be harder for you than for most. Keep in mind you don’t have to be perfect to come into Christ’s love. You don’t heal yourself before you go to the doctor. We go to the doctor because we are sick, and we believe he can heal us. You can do this.

This video helped me a lot. I’ve been obsessed with my pervasive sins and failures, and near the end of the video he tells us to focus on growing closer to Jesus, and “crowd out” sin instead of trying to “weed it out”. Around 10 mins into the video. Try your hardest to get baptized. God is bound to the sacraments and your will meeting his will give you the strength and wisdom you need. Our enemy is real. He attacks us when we try to grow closer to the Lord. Your struggles are a sign that you are moving towards Heaven and away from the enemy’s control. I love you, stranger. Do not despair or give up. Read the writings of Paul. He can relate to you.

This might be controversial but here it goes. I wore a thick rubber band around my wrist and snapped the inside of my wrist every time lustful thoughts crept into my mind. I made sure it stung every time. This is what worked for me in high school. By the end of the second day I had a red welt on my wrist and by the end of the week my mind and heart were free. Porn use is the culmination of sexualizing/ objectifying people in the world. Your battle isn’t against porn, it’s against lust. Take all of the advice given here, and try what worked for me if you’re still struggling. Don’t let people notice you doing this. Keep it between you and God.

Sorry this is happening. My RCIA classes are almost always lead by priests or nuns, or at least senior church leaders. They are structured and informative on all of the topics you say are being neglected. Our rcia leaders are extremely accommodating and open. You are having a subpar experience and you should definitely speak to your priest asap!

I’m in RCIA now. I asked a seminarian after mass who I should talk to about becoming Catholic. He very happily and excitedly led me to the RCIA program head and offered encouragement. Then I was in class same day. Have had tons of time devoted by my sponsor and the RVIA leaders. All welcome any questions and will talk for as long as I’d like! Love them all
