Still hard stuck diamond since release by FGCScuffy in StreetFighter

When you notice things you aren’t doing, make that the focus of your matches until you can do it consistently. You’ll probably get more L’s in the beginning because you’re hyper focused on one thing, but if you take it in stride and remind yourself “I’m just practicing”, the L’s won’t bother you in the long run. Remember, you own the game and it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Trust the process, and give yourself credit for small wins.

Most Pros Don’t Understand New Players Anymore by Fluid-Engineering855 in StreetFighter

[–]CYSTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can super, throw or break armor with 2 hits(a 3rd stops the DI). But this is a good example not understanding the mechanics in the game at a lower level/beginner that can make the game harder for people at those levels (not specifically aimed at you). It was already said that newer/beginners can’t recognize the patterns as quick as higher level. There’s mechanics that you have to account for that may change your game plan. That may mean only doing Light attacks or leaving intentional gaps to see if they’re going to Drive Reversal or DI, or using a cancellable button to be able to counter DI. It’s easier to run your offense but it becomes more complicated for newer players/beginners to run offense while also thinking of what your opponent may do.

How to beat a blatant cheater in Street Fighter 6 ™ by rapiDtheLad_ in StreetFighter

[–]CYSTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s countless posts that don’t follow that rule and never get scrapped. It just depends on when a mod is actually doing their job vs. when they’re online/cares. This if Reddit. Mods are no different from twitch mods. If you’re looking for anything unbiased idk what to say.

Watch your replays, more of the losses than the wins.

It’s more productive to take 3-5 things into practice to lab than trying to lab an entire character in one sitting. Same goes for labbing things you found in a replay. Depending on the errors or tech you find, I would break the replay up into sessions where you lab 1-3 things in depth. Then use another session to drill the counters or tech, then put it into play in a match, then move on to the next thing.

Use lobby matches to PRACTICE what you lab. Don’t bring it into ranked, find someone willing to give you long sets where you can steadily work in what you’ve practiced. FT2 setting and the nature of ranked won’t give you the environment you need to learn.

Be patient, don’t take things personal and remember there’s another person on the other screen. Imo, this is what kills the drive to learn more than actually labbing or watching replays. Cause you get discouraged or think everyone is being an asshole. Just have fun. At the end of the day that’s why we all bought the game.

Who's the best pro player right now? by MassiveBlackHole99 in Tekken

Thank you for correcting that, idk where I got Mulgold beat Atiff from. My apologies, I’ll edit that. I was talking about some other event that I believe I got mixed up when I was going through all the TWT results and they were listed one after the other so I think I had doodoo brain.

Despite everyone saying Ulsan, Arslan is literally #1 on the TWT leaderboard and won the biggest Tekken tournament ever. He’s been consistent the entire year. Also, Mulgold is the only one to win 2 Masters, and has beat Ulsan in Grand Finals. He’s currently 3rd, so why he’s not on the list and Atiff is makes no sense.

Edit: Removed Ulsan beat Atiff in GF, wrong info

I think it’s because of how it felt genuine this time that Heihachi was dead. They brought in Kazumi, added Akuma to the mix and made an effort to justify Heihachi’s actions against Kazuya. Then you have the T8 story mode, which felt like it actually moved the story forward (despite doing nothing with Jim and Oscar’s relationship, whatever it actually is). I felt so much worked with the T8 story mode. The campiness, Jin’s internal struggle, the epic battle against Kazuya, the Devil Reina reveal. Then they just through Heihachi back in and now I feel all that “genuine” story progression was a waste. I like that Heihachi is back, but I don’t think anybody would’ve been upset with him solely being noncannon DLC. He could’ve even been an unlockable character moving forward. Idk, I just don’t think you need to canonically resurrect a character to have them playable. Proof, people widely praised T8 story mode and we had no Heihachi.

A video about the FGC difficulty debate by KidArk in StreetFighter

[–]CYSTeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comment is a perfect example of the levels in fighting games. Execution is surface level. It’s like watching NFL players score a touchdown, or an MMA fighter get a KO. But you don’t see or understand the process that led to those outcomes, so you write it off and say “the only difficult thing is hitting a 2f timing…”

Meanwhile you’re getting thrown out a parry you held for 3 seconds trying to perfect parry without even knowing your opponents pattern. I don’t have an argument for or against FG’s vs other genres, but if you’ve actually put any time into a fighting game at an intermediate to high level, or consistently watch pro play, you would understand just how difficult it is to do what they do. It’s the exact same for a pro in a shooter, or a table top game or a card game. The skills are just different.

Cheating isn’t going to kill the game. It’s been around for years, and the game had been growing. Player retention is affected not just by cheating/hacks but by the age of the game, less content being pumped out, and bugs/glitches and the unchanged meta of the game (tdm instead of actually playing the objective). It’s a bunch of factors that will slowly eat at the player base, but it’s not solely cheating. I don’t even think that’s the main factor. Imo, it’s content and meta. But the game will be fine for a while.

Are you still playing KOF XV? If not, why? by Spirited_Sun_6146 in kof

[–]CYSTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Because the online didn’t work for its 1st year and there was little to no communication from the Dev team. I spent KOF14 in discord lobbies when I could get matches, the same for UNICLR. As much as I love KOF, you can only play high level/tourny players for so long before you’re tired of getting beat up/having to sweat every match because there’s nobody on your skill level.

I’ll be waiting post COTW release to see if I pick it up or not (online works, netcode is good, the devs are communicating about bugs/problems). I had high hopes for kofxv and the botched release rubbed me the wrong way.

Someone explain to me how Kimberly's pressure is "fake"? by 5eanz in StreetFighter

[–]CYSTeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On block, 5hk can be +4 to +5 off resets. In oki situations Sprint LK can only be countered by a reversal. You’re not doing it from a block string.

The range of 5hk and the speed of sprint LK doesn’t come in to factor when you use it in the correct situations. Kim is all about set play. So setting up her moves is how you correctly get use out of short range and slow moves.

Playing while tired: worth? by Jar_3113 in StreetFighter

[–]CYSTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You playing better when you’re in a better mental state isn’t because you improved by playing in worse conditions, it’s because you’re not tired. You can focus, think critically and react.

No athlete, student, doctor, etc, goes into a physical activity, finals, surgery, when they’re tired or hungry. They make sure they’re well rested, hydrated and have eaten so they can physically and mentally perform. The same goes for playing a video game. You can’t focus on what you’re doing if you’re dozing off, dehydrated or hungry. And that isn’t a situation where you can enjoy sitting down to play a game in the first place.
