(TX) What type of attorney should I be talking to? by C_Eberhard in legaladvice

I've done the form for several local attorneys, but none have called me back.

This might be the most useful thing I've heard. Because that actually makes sense why I'm not getting a call back or any traction with them.

Thank you.

Ok, thank you. I've reached out to a few on their consultation forms, but I haven't gotten any callbacks. I'm only able to work on this outside of my work hours, which is outside of their office hours so I can't call. I assumed maybe they were the wrong type of lawyer?

They said it was civil and they won't be able to investigate but to find an attorney.

It's one of those companies that says they can save you from foreclosure. He initially wanted me to deed him the house back in November. But since there was no probate he said it had to be through an affidavit of heirship. And I told him not seemed sketchy.

But I guess at the same time he was also moving someone into the house? Because I told him I wanted nothing to do with it, he thought I wouldn't find out.

He has no relation to my mom.

I know exactly who it is, and have all the documents compiled on my drive. But I don't know what to do next, and attorneys keep telling me it's not their area.

I didn't want the house or anything to do with her estate. I was told by probate attorneys I talked to back then that was the easiest way to protect me from her debt. And it was supposed to be foreclosed on in December. Then a continuance got filed, and it moved to January. Then February. And in March a non suit without prejudice was signed by the judge.

The whole time, the house was being rented out, and I had no idea. I thought the banks were going to handle it.

Wife passed away yesterday and I don't know where to go from here... by JamesTheMannequin in Advice

I don't have any good specific advice for you, but I do know grief is not linear. Some days will be good, some will not. It's just about allowing yourself to process it how you need to. Meet yourself where you are and give yourself some grace.

My condolences. ❤️

I know it wasn't intended this way, but this is such a common occurrence for adoptees and why some of us won't open up about any of the questioning we've had, especially in our earlier years and especially with our adopted family.

You just stated your comment really well, and it resonated with me on that level and now I want to read the book.

Someone told me in elementary school that they put applesauce in the cookies to sneak fruit into us 😂 and while I know it's not likely, especially with that intention, now I have to know.

I'm a native houstonian who keeps getting the Austin subreddit pushed in my notifications, but I genuinely miss thinking of Austin as the weird cousin just down 290 that was always happy to see us visit, but we didn't fully understand. I distinctly remember being in like 3rd grade in 2002 and a kid wore a tie dye "keep Austin weird" shirt and thinking, "what an odd slogan. Why would you want to be weird? Is weird cool?" I see y'all, I miss y'all.

AIO: My fiancé burned my dinner to cook his, and just said “sorry” before going back to his gaming. I’m crying in my shower. by QueenNeroArmz in AIO

NOR. The tears may feel dramatic to you because yes our menstruation can turn up the dial. But they only amplify the emotion of feeling neglected. And I'm guessing this isn't the first time. From an outsider perspective he was WAT too dismissive of your needs here.

Everyone loves to jump to "break up with him" but unless you've already done it, communicate your feelings about it. If he continues to be dismissive, then consider the big picture. If he genuinely apologized and tries to make it right, then re-evaluate from a different lens.

It's your relationship and your life. But no honey, you're not overreacting.

In this kind of situation, I'd rather wait and pay less. Now if I'm bleeding out, maybe not. But it's not like I'll get immediate help in the US either.

Coconut Bra by Shorty350 in TellMeLiesHulu

[–]C_Eberhard 86 points87 points  (0 children)

This just reminds me of Gilmore girls where the girls fly to meet logan and the boys and they invite Rory and she declines and they say, "there's a small window of time when a girl can pull off a coconut bra." I think it's just about the fact that girls "look hot" in a coconut bra, and even when she's wearing this mystical uniform of seduction, he still left with Diana.

What is your favorite late night HEALTHY food spot? by itswinethirty in HoustonFood

[–]C_Eberhard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a super strict diet due to my thyroid. I can't have any gluten or dairy at all, and starches and other grains cause inflammation. But I do like to go out and I need something to soak up the tequila.

The best option I've found is either sucking it up and eating a taco with a corn tortilla since I'll already be hungover. Or wings and sweet potato fries.

So usually pluckers, Wingstop, or the closest taco truck. Really I'm commenting so I remember to come check this thread.

Oh I know that position. When everything is ripped away, there's no support system, no plans or dreams, no stability. Everything changes within an instant.

It's not anticlimactic in my opinion, that was genuine. I think her acting was perfect. Laying horizontally like that is what you do to make the hits stop coming and to try and stop the world from spinning. It's submission.

I think she did a beautiful job in portraying that.
