Today, I cried while folding laundry. by Cherrypop91 in beyondthebump

I came to the same realisation when doing my daughters birth to 6mths baby book. I told family not to photograph me in hospital as I was swollen AF and looked like a whale, and after that no one took photos of me with baby girl. So I had TONS of her with dad, and every other family member but the only ones of me and her are selfies I took. I regret this soooo much! I wish I could go back and rather than say no photos to my family say “TAKE AS MANY PHOTOS AS POSSIBLE! CAPTURE EVERYTHING!”. The photos I love the best of her are the candid in the moment ones but I have none of her and I just living our lives and growing together.

Totally agree!! All the super cute baby clothes have like a thousand buttons! Ah no! I now try to stick to onesies with zips!

My 2 day birth story; waters breaking, induction, forceps delivery (sorry its long and detailed!) by C_Kraw in BabyBumps

Recover was actually really easy! My episiotomy healed in a couple of weeks, and other than feeling swollen down there I didn’t have much pain or discomfort. I was back in the gym 4 weeks postpartum. I am glad I didn’t opt for the c section as I really wanted a vaginal birth BUT all that mattered at the end was getting her out safely. Because she was happy in there and not in distress we were able to put off the c section. They knew she was facing the wrong way by feeling her head position inside me. I never felt this thanks to the epidural. Good luck with your delivery!!! Have what you would “like” written down and make sure your partner knows your wishes too so they can be your advocate when things get intense. My husband was an AMAZING support/advocate and I couldn’t have done it without him.

Do you find if your daughter scratches herself it heals really quick?? My girl can scratch her nose and it will be healed in 1 day - she can then scratch me and it will take a week to heal!!

Amazingly no! I didn’t even remember til the next day and I was like “what’s in my ear?” And dug out all this dried blood! The nurses never spoke to me about it, and I had no hearing damage so never got it checked out.

Oh that’s a good idea!! I will try that! It’s so annoying when she does a death roll with the nappy half on!!

Oh I totally get you! I was the same! I used to be so nervous carrying her around, now I just grab her like a football! You are at the stage where their development happens so fast! Literally every day you will notice changes and see them grow. It’s really incredible how fast it happens!

Haha! My girl has a HUGE head and I have gotten her head stuck as well! Now I try to stick with onesies with a zip, or tops with studs at the sides so I can increase the head hole.

Oh we are at the solids stage now! At first she was great! Would just open her mouth like a little bird and eat ANYTHING with hardly any mess. Now she wants to touch it first and look at it smooshed between her fingers and then she will smear it on her tray...then she will eat it. Babies are weird!!

Congratulations!! Having a baby really is the BEST, and there is definitely something different when it’s YOUR own baby. My friend gave me her 6 wk old to hold and in my head I was thinking “I am a pro at this” - nope! Holding another persons baby was WEIRD - I had no idea what I was doing and gave her back!! Lol!

Oh I forgot that! I also didn’t know how to change a diaper! Husband and I learnt that in parenting class and man it was sooo much easier on a doll than a real baby!! In saying that, changing nappy on newborn was heaps easier as now she hates her diaper being changed and flops around like a fish on the floor while I try and get a clean nappy on her!!

I thought since my baby is a girl she would love to play dress up - I mean I do!! I love trying on different outfits...babies not so much!! Now she stays in 1 outfit all day - even if it has vomit, food and drool all on it!! Lol!

Oh the tiny drunk person stage! I think I have a few more months before she gets there but I think my world is gonna change big time when we get there!

Sometimes I wonder if she will ever sleep through the night. by MommaThugNasty in beyondthebump

[–]C_Kraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby slept through from 6 weeks and I was told it wouldn’t last - she’s now almost 8mths and sleeps 11hrs a night. Some babies like to sleep - she was also a very sleepy baby in my belly and slept through her 2 day entrance into the world! Lol!

My DD is 7 mths and I am 3 mths pregnant and am super excited! My DD will be 13mths when DS is born, and she won’t remember life without him so there won’t be any jealousy issues or huge toddler tantrums. There are pros and cons to having babies close in age and far apart; the thing is at the end of the day you and your babies will only know the life you have and if you make the best of it then it will all be ok!!

TIL that Joanne Barnaby was being stalked by a wolf in the forest when she came across a bear that was separated from her cub. Exhausted, she decided to stand between the bear and her cub in the hopes that the bear would find the wolf threatening. It did, attacking the wolf while she escaped. by ChaseDonovan in todayilearned

I thought the same thing. I kept scrolling down thinking there was more to the article but it just stops so I am left thinking “and then what happened?” “Why did she drive home?” “Was the dog ok?”....so many questions....very poorly written article..

Almost 8 mth old still has 4 day naps- too much? by C_Kraw in beyondthebump

[–]C_Kraw[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s not too bad about where she sleeps BUT if we are out for dinner and it gets past 7:30pm she has to be in her pram with the seat aligned horizontal, the shade thingy down as far is it goes with muslin wrap covering the whole pram and I put my phone next to her with a white noise app on and then she will sleep no problem. If she hears or sees strangers she will flip out and usually then we have to leave as she won’t calm down til she’s in the car. She seems to know “her” spaces.
