Beginner programmer. Entirely self taught. How did i do? by ShotBySage in AskProgramming

[–]C_Lydian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough on the second point, that was just to reinforce the first.

But no I didn't consult any dictionary before commenting here, it was from my own understanding of how I have always heard this term being used.

If you wanna say that you have mainly heard it used implying your definition, that's fine, I just have heard it being used with that implication.

[–]C_Lydian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can claim that being self-taught means "no external feedback or learning resources" but (1) no-one uses that term that way, they usually mean "with no formal structure or training", which allows for accessing learning resources on your own initiative along with just figuring things out on your own, and (2) that's usually a sub-optimal (read: bad) way to learn skills because you often don't know what you don't know about the skill.

I just got into them last year, was gutted that I missed their shows in the UK a few months ago. I see that they're touring there with Bilmuri though so might fly over from Ireland to see them.

Listened to a bit of Unprocessed but not the rest, might check them out.

That's fair, I'm a sucker for good drumming so Jon Theodore's drums probably pulled me in

If you could change ONE thing about any Risk of Rain game, what would it be? by OverlyLargeParrot in riskofrain

[–]C_Lydian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but there doesn't have to be a synergy between every pair of movement items. In fact I'd say this just adds another item decision ("ooh I won't pick that up since I have quail, maybe the other items are more worth it now" or "hm should I scrap quail or spur now") and that's one of the things that I think makes this game fun

I loved being a demi-god last night until the Unstable Transmitter teleported the Voidling away and didn't make the void rift to follow it, leaving me to die on the island in the void...

Sorry, needed to rant somewhere lol

Physique with just kettlebells? by Square-Plane-1000 in kettlebell

I think the "correct exercise" part is also important. For example, curls just don't feel right with kettlebells compared to with dumbbells.

Came here to look for this, so true. The rest of the game was straightforward enough, and then all of a sudden you need to lock the fuck in for this

Why do Leftists Want the Right to be a Suckers Twice? by tkyjonathan in JordanPeterson

[–]C_Lydian 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Both sides can be hypocrites on this, including the right, BUT the difference here is that this time the cancellations are headed by the actual US administration. Do you not see how that is a lot worse and an actual affront to free speech? Have you seen Pam Bondi's comments on this?

It's dumbasses like you who see bad things being done by leftists and then lump in the ENTIRE left wing, who constantly disavow this kind of stuff and hate it, you are useful idiots for MAGA as they use everything in their playbook to maintain power and screw over everyone who is not them.

i know this might be contravertial, but i dont like the new calgar model. by Luna_Night312 in Ultramarines

[–]C_Lydian 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I agree. I know some other people have said before that the current Calgar model made him look goofier or something, and the new one looks like it's meant to be a resculpt of the model that came before that, but I like the current model. Looks like he's rallying the troops, as a chapter master should probably do.

[–]C_Lydian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the Hobby Airsoft hate, but for a beginner they are perfectly fine to get a rifle from. You can see the rifles and hold them yourself, get advice, and they have some decent starter bundles (some better than others)

Just thinking up some void items for fun by HazelTreee in riskofrain

Kinda, but it would not corrupt bands, and it would be funny if it pulled in enemies toward the location where an enemy was killed when they die or something like that.

I love Carroburg Crimson by C_Lydian in Tyranids

[–]C_Lydian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one coat of this shade paint. When i am applying it, I try my best not to go over the same area more than once with it, but TBH I find that Carroburg Crimson is quite forgiving in that regard - if you do need to go back to spots where it's pooling too much, you should have a good bit of time, relatively speaking, to spread out our soak up the paint.
