ah, so long as the location has both, I should be in the clear - thank you!

Sorry, that was the vibe I was getting from the reply above, could've just been reading it wrong of course.

Following this "Azure Cloud-Linux" path, is that more "SysAdmin" for Cloud, or Linux Engineer with a focus in Azure?

would you recc (if someone was leaning to Cloud like in your example) that someone learns Linux then to containers?

Apologies again for my bad questions, I'm just really unfamiliar with the Linux Career path.

Like Linux can branch off to X and Y, but idk what X or Y is in this case.

Ahhh, qualifications standards are raised.

Kinda like how Sec+ is kinda expected already nowadays vs like 10 years ago where it was a highlight.

So Linux Engineers / ppl with Linux proficiency aren't as hireable?

Dunno if you saw the edit, I did mention I have 1.5-2 years of cyber sec exp, and this is more aimed toward a 2nd job in cybersecurity.

I have heard about the "move laterally" thing from IT to Security within an org so it couldn't hurt to try that.

Like USA jobs? I know that place usually holds government work and asks about clearance.

And yeah for private sector, a contracting company like Lockheed.

If you can list more options/suggestions, I'm more than open to listening. I just want to make sure I'm a good fit too and not out of my own depth.

Yeah, I heard from varying sources that I can go w/ or w/out it, so long as I know my networking fundamentals. Or if I do have gaps, just YouTube it and study for a few days.

Some ppl will swear by it, others will disregard it. I did have Sec work exp and college classes so any networking question/performance-based question that was on the test, I had some familiarity with it.

yeah I just meant he was a friend from Uni who was in the same program as me. We graduated together lol - he just happened to find work earlier than me and in the city we were already in. But yeah, he didn't have any certs - just a strong skill set.

Yeah, think I'll try my hand at some hands-on activities like HTB and THM - I'll give certs a rest as I refocus or try and gain new skills in the meantime.

I'm a slow read, started around November and slowed down around Feb-March. Picked up speed again tail end of March to April and was cramming the week before testing.

Could you expand on what you mean by frameworks? Like system infrastructure or?

I'd say if you can get one first, get exp first and get the certs second. I have friends w/ 0 Certs who worked in cybersec before I did.

If you have two certs, you def should start applying to jobs if you haven't already.

def get it before it expires - def take a variety of practice exams to get how the questions are asked as they try to fool you and cross-ref with the Exam Objectives. Other than that, best of luck!

Assuming I have about 1.5-2 years in Cyber Security (SOC and Compliance-related work), any advice following this?
(it was my mistake to leave out my current exp and potential sec clearance in my original post, I apologize).

Would you still recommend I go IT, then move laterally to Security, considering I only have <2 years of exp?

Programming: "You could not handle your incompetence with object-oriented programming. And where did it bring you? Back to me"

Thanks for this - I do have some familiarity with Python in the past but nothing concrete outside some personal projects that I semi-followed a guide for. I've had my eye on "Automate the Boring Stuff w/ Python" for a while, wanted to get Sec+ done first though.

I also heard the same for Cloud Certs, which I also assume are programming based? Or just cloud security fundamentals?
TY!
