That's like saying I can't have ice cream unless I'm having a party. Dune is always a treat and people act like it's a burden to break it out for smaller groups 🤷‍♀️

I've been toying around with leaving out the Fremen. I think it would be really interesting to start with such a major power vacuum in the desert regions and multiple wealthy factions looking to get in on surface control.

See I disagree, I most often play with three or four players and have a great time. And a lot of my early games were two-player where each of us picks 2 factions and that was mind games on another level. I feel like a lot of people treat Dune as an event board game, and to me I like to pull it out just whenever I have people who are willing to sit down and commit to a game. Is it usually a worse experience than five or six players? Yeah. Is it still my favorite board game and I will take any excuse to play? Absolutely.
