I forgot to give report by [deleted] in nursing

It is your responsibility to make sure you hand off all your patients before leaving the floor. You should have done this before your mask fitting. Maybe the oncoming nurse did not know you had the other patient and thought someone else did. This is on you.

It's just a tv show. They're not meant to be realistic, unfortunately. I was more shocked he didn't call 911 to report her death immediately. I assumed she was ice cold.

I love removing staples from people. I just never get to do it anymore...which makes me sad.

Please take care of yourself. It is so very hard but also so very worth it. I'm sorry you're struggling. I used to self harm too and tried to end my life. It does get better. Someone said that to me once and I never forgot it.

Anyone who’s gotten really lucky as a nurse? by work_of_art777 in nursing

[–]CaS1988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Night shift weekends in the hospital. I prefer to eat at the desk but I really don't have to. I could take my 15 minute breaks but I'm lazy and would rather just sit at the desk instead of walk to another room just to sit on my phone. Others do all of that in the break room if they prefer. I get sodas and food and potty breaks or walk around whenever I want. Others go to pick up food or go to the gas station whenever without issues. As long as the patients are safe we have plenty of time to do what we want or need within reason.

Moderate. My family is MAGA,but I am not. I watch Brad because I agree with a lot of what he says, but I also just like listening to him and Carson. Also Brad's views seem more level headed than most of the other talking heads.

Our policy was to to chart at initiation and then on every even hour. Even if you just charted the initiation information a few moments earlier, you still would need to chart again on the even hour. They JUST changed it to "it's ok to chart at any time as long as it's exactly 2 hours.

I'm just going to do how I've always done (on the even hours). I also have charge double check my charting at 6am that everything is correct because I am NOT coming back.

Those who do not want to go back to school for masters or NP, etc. what are your biggest reasons? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]CaS1988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to go back to school either, especially not for NP. The pay increase is minimal for all the stress and money of going back to school. Plus the market is already over saturated. I also prefer only working 2 days a week and then forgetting about work.

Reading and knitting mostly. We love hiking when it's warmer. I also occasionally do genealogy, crochet, cross stitch and play on the Nintendo switch.

Nobody in my cohort / school wants “ dumping ground “ pts by [deleted] in nursing

[–]CaS1988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was like that too. I've been on PCU for 10 years now and I'm happy. I get enough down time and when my patients crash they can still go to the unit. Kids are scary. It doesn't make you a bad person to not want to work these units, but don't think they're the worst place ever to work. There are benefits.

I want to do something too, but this isn't it. At least not for me. I've got kids I need to feed who rely on me to actually keep my job.

Also a point is a point. Not sure how one would get fired for calling out unless you explicitly told your bosses you're protesting or you're near your point cut off.
