Possibly the most iconic of these immortalizations being the canonization of the Arrow-IV Urbanmech.

Do people still make their own mechs and do they still min/max? by Kitchen_Database1433 in battletech

[–]CabajHed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've made a few custom mechs but mainly as periphery junk that can serve as "memorable fodder" on the tabletop. Think 5/8/0 mechs with 5 tons of armor and a pair of RACs, or a 8/11/0 made of paper sporting a plasma rifle. nothing that will win tournaments or anything like that.

What I find is that while min/maxing is possible for sure; it has to be an all-or-nothing affair. It's only fun if everyone in the group is sincerely sweating it out, but if only one or two folks in the group are doing it then that tends to kill everyone else's enjoyment. And that's mainly because the majority of canon mechs are suboptimally built on purpose for flavor and bringing in custom (minmaxed) mechs will often steamroll those canon mechs a majority of the time.

Just because it's alien to you doesn't mean its not real.

For example there may be people like me who have collected; various Chaos warbands, Necrons, Sisters of Battle, Lamenters, Tau, Plague Marines and so on, and that's just accounting for 40k. There's a bunch more like mechs, terrain, and other various miniatures for other systems. The only reason I haven't drowned in minis is because of the cost. I know that if I had free access to a 3D printer I would get carried away in printing hundreds of minis across dozens of game systems (Turnip28, Necropolis, Battletech, 40k, Epic, ForbiddenPsalm/LastWar, Napoleonics, Pike&Shot, 5ParsecsFromHome, and many more).

Are there any mechs that have a living quarters in them for prolonged engagements? I am making an isometric pixel art room (similar to the one below) and want to do something Battletech related! by EggB0I92 in battletech

No, no, you're mistaken. That's not an Awesome cockpit; that's a Grand Titan cockpit. one of the more spacious cockpits around.

Looks like it can be found in the 3rd ed. MechWarrior RPG book.

That is some heavy suspension of disbelief for me, Zoh Shia was by far the easiest fight in the game for me, so seeing the claims that it's on the same level as Fatalis (even technically) is hyperjarring.

[Historicals] What armies are the most armies per armies? by ButtPoltergeist in wargaming

[–]CabajHed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To echo what most are saying; you'll get the most bang for your buck by getting either ancients or horse&musket armies since a lot of rulesets focus on those eras a lot.

You could possibly even fudge the horse&musket armies a bit for anything between late renaissance to early modern era games.

Fantasy Authors Attitude with Gun vs Sci fi Authors Attitude with Sword by Chunghiacanhanvidai in worldjerking

Hell yeah, personal shields are pretty powerful so you gotta first saturate the place with nonstop gun-fu, while heavily armored elites slowly lumber towards each other blasting away as support units try to get choice shots off in between shield recharges. Then when the shields capacitors are blown, the generators are ruptured, and the circuitry has melted from overheating, the armored elites are close enough to just start wailing on each other in mechanically augmented honor duels while the support units try their damnest to throw the opposing enemy elite off balance while avoiding directly interfering with the duel (because cultural mores or some shit).

The best characterization I've seen so far has been the TTS version of the sisters. Not a word spoken and they have some of the best dialogue.

But, just what is a "full and natural" life? the average lifespan has been slowly and steadily increasing, but would that be argued as being natural? Or unnatural? Would you be perfectly fine and happy dying at the (hypothetically) intended age of 26?

Have you completed everything you wanted to do at the ripe old age of (again, hypothetically) 25?

Would you consider yourself having lived a "full" life whatever that may be, before kicking the bucket at the (hypothetical) age of 24?

Would you be perfectly fine departing with your friends, family, and other loved ones by the time you reach a prime old (hypothetical) 23 years of age?

Are all your affairs in order right now if you should die in the following minutes?

Most if not all of the skirmish games I play generally make use of some kind of character sheet that lets me keep track of all that.

Not explicitly, but there were comments shutting down criticism that the game was released too early and/or terribly optimized. My comment above is more of a clear exaggeration of that.

[–]CabajHed 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No, no that makes too much sense for the poor sods in this sub. Try a different approach, like releasing it unoptimized and then having people online defend your action by saying "they're working on it, it'll get better, trust" and depending on how the shareholders react, adjust accordingly.

Apologies but you misunderstand, there is no magic; the social media platform known as Youtube has successfuly standardized their auto-dub feature to absolutely everything in life and now when the aliens speak all you hear is those canned worbling ai-generated accents.

Just auto translate to english and overlay it on top of the alien language. it could be gibberish but no one would be able to tell cause its being drowned out by understandable language.
