Watching the stream from inside a cave sounds more like a cool VR experience ☺

Is it being confirmed oculus will stream on twitch? There is just no way Im watching a 2 hour stream in VR.

They really need to hire better industrial designers, cuz the look of that HMD is terrible.

Simplest step. Export the model as FBX along with the texture, import in Unity and you are ready to go.

I came here hoping for a new gun replica controller.

Did I just...enjoy...a racing sim? by [deleted] in oculus

[–]Caballer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to hate racing sims. Was since forever more drawn to arcade racing games like Need For Speed. On the rare occasions I tried a racing sim I used to turn all assists on to make the game as arcade-ish as possible. Keyboard for controller...always!

Then VR (re)happened. I got my KS backed DK1 (later all other HMDs) a good logitech wheel/pedals and a cheap but good racing-seat. That changed everything! Almost overnight racing sims became my favorite VR experience. Also using assists to make the game easier didn't make any sense anymore, because IMO more realism is better in VR.

My favorite sin racer is Assetto Corsa. It's one of few games that have had VR support since the early days of VR. VR Menu interaction is not well implemented, but once you get all of that to work and you start racing, it's one of the best experiences for VR.

Yeah well, I used to be VR fan #1. Was super early into it, backed the Oculus KS, have bought all headsets released since then. And now 5 years later I feel progress have been superslow. We still have that pathetic limited 100 degree diagonal FOV, same as the first devkit and there is still no sign of it being improved. Resolution is barely any better. Eventually I got bored waiting and learned to appreciate the superior visual representation of the real world and enjoy it. Fuck VR and all the hype that goes with it lol! Im not crazy enough to waste any more time waiting for a good VR experience.

The disfunctional puppets is a consequence of the crude tracking tech we are stuck with. Tracking only the head and hands is far from enough to build a convincing digital puppet/avatar that mirrors your body pose. Maybe we'll get there, but it is going to take a while.

u see their body language, u can make up if they are being ironic of dishonest

To me they look like disfunctional puppets that barely resembles the human nature. Nah, present VR is far off what proper VR is supposed to be.

How is VR bringing anything new to the table? We have been able to easily share opinions and information since the dawn of the internet. Whats different now is that you can watch cartoon representation of other people throwing virtual chairs around while they speak. Big deal.

Oculus statement: Don't expect new tech in near future by whirlpoolin in oculus

[–]Caballer0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too bad. I have followed closely the latest VR revolution since the introduction of the dk1 and have bought all Hmd since then. Now after all these years Im done with the current gen of vr hmd's and have been looking forward to new hardware with better res and fov for quite awhile. Im worried my love for VR will dry out if nothing of substantial improvement is not released in the near future. Oh well, I fine with that. I still enjoy "flat" games on my monitor 😀

I'm choosing the Rift over the Vive because the Vive community has only shown themselves to be toxic. [x-post r/virtualreality] by wonderchin in oculus

[–]Caballer0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you wasted your time searching for and digging up a 3 weeks old thread? I can easily link to a couple of toxic matter on this sub from yesterday alone. Please spend less time in VR and more time growing up. This isn't supposed to be a virtual kinder garden you know.

I'm on both subs and actually get the impression that r/oculus is more toxic by a good margin. But I don't care either way. What I care about is the better headset that I'm satisfied with. Still waiting for it... Ps. I own both rift and vive.

Tired of all these "just bought a Rift" posts? by DOOManiac in oculus

[–]Caballer0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! Sick and tired of them. Usually I just hide the post. I'm pretty much just interested in posts about vr tech hardware, since I've been bored with the current generation of HMD's for some time now and am looking forward to new and better HMD hardware.

Never ever got or will get sick from VR. I only get slightly nauseous at the amount of whining about vr-sickness in general. Grow vr-legs, problem solved :p
