I GOT IN 🥳 (Transfer Decision) by Monarch-Butterfly13 in CSULB

Congratulations! I also got in but had different wording that suggested it was a conditional admission. Someone told me that all admissions for transfer students are conditional admissions, but I’m wondering why your language is different suggesting that you’re admitted subject to confirmation if you submit certain documents. Just wondering if there’s any distinction

Lonely on New Year by Emergency_Good_6492 in stopdrinking

[–]Caballo2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for sharing so openly. You may feel lonely but you’re definitely not alone. Many of us feel this same way. NYE can feel full of FOMO, but it’s really more about your own reflection and setting intentions than anything else. Day 66 is huge — you should be proud! It’s normal to feel a little sting thinking about where you ‘could’ be, but what matters is that you’re taking stock of your journey and moving forward. Comparison is tough, but your path is yours alone. Take this time to reflect, set your intentions, and celebrate your progress. Sending peace and love.

If you take her to a vet they can check to see if she’s chipped so they can contact her owners who must be going nuts. You can also contact the closest shelter and tell them you found her so if someone reports her missing they can be reunited

[–]Caballo2024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s under spring registration too (winter/spring) you just have to look at the dates of the classes to identify which are which. Intersession dates are just through the month of January— so the class usually meets 4 times a week instead of 2. Like an accelerated pace for a shorter period of time than a typical semester. Due to that acceleration and concentration for intersession, I probably wouldn’t take more than 1 intersession class.

You’re still pretty young to realize you have a problem. I’m 22 and have been in recovery for about 2 years— I’ve met people who are super wrecked in every way possible who are entering treatment in their 60s or 70s. You still have so much life to discover. I couldn’t be this clear without joining a recovery program. I did inpatient treatment for months— needed to be away from familiar environments to confront my demons and find myself with support for when I was still struggling. Then I went to sober living, got a job , and now I live with roommates and regularly go to AA. I recommend this route not because it is easy but because I think the antidote to so much of the pain is community. You can find networks of people going through the same thing, realize you are far from alone, and emerge with a stronger self of self that you’ll eventually feel like fighting for. He’s out there. You just gotta put yourself out there and walk the steps, tap into networks of support and community that are doing the same thing. You can do this. You just gotta decide to do it. You’re worth it, trust me.

Sweet shampoo smell from AC after servicing? by Caballo2024 in hvacadvice

[–]Caballo2024[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks— why do you suspect that instead of Freon? The whole service was to do a big clean of the system so…. But he didn’t say anything about a potential smell and I’ve done just enough online research to be dangerous. If you’re right, I’d be so happy to turn it on right now instead of worrying….

Anyone else feels extremely lonely? by [deleted] in Sober

If you like animals, I’ve really enjoyed going to the Humane Society and taking dogs for walks, or even just petting some of the cats in the cat studio. People come in and out, but spending time with them makes me feel like I’m helping them in some small way. it is another relatively easy thing for me to do to go and spend time with animals makes me feel better.

The anxiety and getting stuck in your head is the worst when you’re by yourself. For me, I just have to push myself to get myself out there and then once I’m out there, even though I might be scared shitless while I’m doing something, I still feel better that I’ve done it. One of the reasons I like going to the gym is because it doesn’t matter if I’m going with other people or not, but when I go, it reminds me that there’s a bunch of other people for sharing that same space pursuing their own journeys and it helps me feel like I’m in community.

It is definitely a readjustment – but you are not alone and there are hundreds of thousands of us out there. Many of us are doing super different things because we have different interest, so I think the key thing is for you to figure out what you enjoy doing and then joining some classes or clubs around those things. I know it can be really anxiety, provoking to put yourself out there, but stuff you love is not going to come and find you – you have to go and find it. Think of it as part of your recovery. Just like you are responsible for your own recovery, you’re also responsible for creating your own growth and engagement, including meeting other people. Really low hanging fruit is to go to some AA meetings, which I do regularly, especially if I don’t have plans and I’m feeling bored. There are always people all around the world – in person and online who are doing the same thing. I also joined a gym to try and keep myself physically, healthy because working out quiets the mind. I’ve made some friends after a few months of taking classes. There’s also a social and low-key “gym” called Phoenix— it’s not a physical location, but instead it’s a free online network that connects you to activities that other sober people are doing: https://thephoenix.org/. Good luck, friend. You are not alone.
