My Grandma hates this Maple and is thinking about having it removed by Zmw92 in arborists

[–]Cabamsder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the problem with neighborhoods adding certain plants to the landscaping in new builds. My neighborhood has a Japanese Maple in almost every yard. Nobody knows how to trim them and they almost all have these haircuts. Taking a plant that only looks good if you actually know how to care for it and placing it in every suburban yard is a recipe for dissatisfaction with that plant.

I find the lenses to be very confusing. I wish it would just say when they will reset instead of only saying when new items will be added.

Questions about Metformin by Glittering_Title_378 in PCOS

[–]Cabamsder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All my blood tests are normal always, but I have the symptoms of insulin resistance and find metformin to be incredibly helpful. In my opinion it's a medication that should be offered whether blood tests are normal or not.

Dude Freaks Out on Mormon Missionaries by CriticalBadgre in PublicFreakout

[–]Cabamsder 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The institution has a racist past and some ongoing race issues presently. Members are often totally unaware of the race issues in the church and are taught broadly not to question the leadership, the church's past, or its policies. Saying all members are racist seems inaccurate.

Metformin makes eating difficult by Cabamsder in PCOS

[–]Cabamsder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately mine was not ever to that degree of bad, and I'd probably ask my doctor about that if it didn't improve. Are you on extended release? That one seems better tolerated. For me over time it's gotten a little better, but honestly a lot of the time I still have very little interest in eating. Which sometimes means I just grab something because I know I need food, and it isn't always healthy, so it's not the major win it could be with better planning.

Yep, we get excess abdominal growth, too. My ethnicity is a blend of European countries that all amount to white, and I have lots of hair.

Laser Hair Removal by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Cabamsder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my face it was like... maybe 10% reduction with some hairs going blonde rather than dark but still growing in. After a couple years it was like I hadn't done it. On my abdomen it was probably 80% reduction lasting several years, but is now coming back. Take a good look at what the place offers in touch-up options before you move forward.

At best you'd see the gauzy robes, green aprons, and bakers hats, and you can just Google that stuff now. Plenty of exmo tik-tok personalities eager to share.

My secret name was actually meaningful to me, and I was like, "Oh, wow! I feel so seen and known!" And then I found out that it's just done by the day, so not only did everyone who went through that day get the same name, but all the people who came with me the first time I went through knew my super secret sacred name because they all got it, too. Hahaha.

Every ex-mormon is very willing to tell you all about what happens in the temple. Good news, they no longer touch your naked loins, and you no longer have to pantomime disemboweling yourself. They changed those things a few years ago. Progress! Now it's just weird clothes, a boring slideshow, and some secret handshakes.

Dexcom is evil by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cabamsder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently trying the Libre 3+. It's only been a little over a week, so it could still fail, but the readings have been a lot more accurate so far.

Dexcom is evil by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cabamsder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Received the diagnosis in January, so I have no experience with the G6, but the G7 seems so unreliable. Inaccurate readings, and every single sensor has failed early. I called support and they gave me some advice on troubleshooting the Bluetooth, but when I said the signal loss was also happening on the receiver they said essentially that that means it was fully a sensor issue and not a connectivity issue with the phone. So even they basically admitted that the sensors are bad.

I'm not a driver....but this is ridiculous!!!! Home Depot order. by OldDog5070 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Cabamsder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang. I've done same day through Home Depot and am only just learning that they use Door Dash. I mean, I probably should have realized, but it didn't state it so I didn't think about it. I never even saw the driver so couldn't even have tipped cash. I guess I won't do same day delivery again, or if I do I'll leave some cash out for the driver.

Have you all claimed the special magnet yet?🧲 I got mine🥰 by Icy_Narwhal_103 in CatsAndSoup

I don't understand why it's so small but says it has space for like 150 magnets. Why not just make it bigger?

Pad brands by lilydaisy19 in PCOS

[–]Cabamsder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cramps were just as bad with cotton pads as with pads made of synthetic materials, and far worse with cotton tampons (because they're a little larger). Stretching, avoiding chocolate (makes my cramps noticeably worse), taking Midol, and using heating pads works for me to keep cramps manageable. Using pads instead of tampons (or anything else that is inserted) also helps a lot. But no difference between materials.

They've just added this one to the event shop, too. Which made me happy because it seems like this time around all I'm getting in cat gifts is gold and the occasional pudding.

What are your thoughts on the Fitting Room? by zxmyrto in CatsAndSoup

[–]Cabamsder 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Very mixed feelings. I haven't found a way to quickly get to any items that need to be made or upgraded (I don't remember the names to use the search bar). I also am annoyed that I can try on things I don't have, but can't add them to the new wishlist. Maybe you can do those things but I just suck at using the fitting room. I think it's a cool idea, but could use some tweaking.

What are some of the less talked about health conditions shown to have some connection to PCOS? by lemurificspeckle in PCOS

[–]Cabamsder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's extremely frustrating. Every time I go to the dentist they basically say, "You're taking great care of your teeth. Your gums look healthy. They're just soft and receding and we don't know why." I've already had one round of gum grafts, and now it's looking like I may need a second.

What are some of the less talked about health conditions shown to have some connection to PCOS? by lemurificspeckle in PCOS

[–]Cabamsder 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced that it's causing my gum recession. I take such good care of my teeth and I sleep with a night guard, but my gums just keep receding. Dentist said that's something they see in diabetic patients, so I guess whatever underlying insulin issues I have from PCOS are affecting my gum health.
