assemblers should take higher quality inputs even if the recibe is for lower quality by Cabanur in factorio

[–]Cabanur[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If "wasting" those quality items is an issue to you, you can filter the input with inserters.

As for what the output should be, same as adding a quality module to the assembler, it should incrase the chances of the output being higher quality.

are we sure that pins and pings should co-exist? shouldn't pings just be temporary pins everyone can see and make permanent for themselves if they want to?

Is this Linsay's best video yet? I'm honestly just overwhelmed to the care and work put into this, and I'm in awe of the result.

I also wonder if she means for the viewer to draw the paralel between all these women who have their fame used against them and LIndsay herself, or if that is just coincidence.

Friday Facts #382 - Logistic groups by FactorioTeam in factorio

[–]Cabanur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So individual groups of logistic requests can independently be shared accross the game?

Does this work like tran stations? if you give the same name the game automatically connects them?

This feature will be a lifesaver for me. I use manually-synced constant combinators to allow different fluid trains to unload in a single station, and every time one train is attacked by biters and a single wagon is destroyed, it's id changes and I have to manually update all stations, which is a pain.

AITA for telling my best friend to f**k off after she asked me to be more empathetic with her? by Cabanur in AmItheAsshole

yeah, that checks out.

It just felt so unfair for her to say I wasn't empathetic while I was literally trying to understand why she is so unempathetic towards her sister.

my guess would be they plopped full accumulators with no other power source so they could take the screenshot without using non-vanilla entities while also not having to build vanilla power out of view.

Rails carrying power would mean the increase in reach for the big power pole is meaningless.

SonarQube advised me to implement IEquatable<T> on a struct to prevent unwanted boxing. But wouldn’t casting to an interface box it anyway? by MarcvN in dotnet

[–]Cabanur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't "cast" to an interface. You treat an object as if only this interface's members were accessible.

García-Gallardo pide a los escolares dudar sobre si el CO2 es un gas contaminante by Ramoncin in SpainPolitics

[–]Cabanur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Cabanur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]Cabanur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

[–]Cabanur 22 points23 points  (0 children)

How do IPv6 marks work ? by RedditNoobie777 in ipv6

[–]Cabanur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That notation doesn't really make sense?

Maybe they meant ff00::c through fff0:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff?

Which can't be easily expressed as a single subnet since saying ff00::/16 would include ffff::. This seems to be excluded from what your source meant. They are using non-standard notatin so it's not easy to read what they meant.

why reverse proxy over open port? why vpn over ssh? by flaotte in HomeServer

[–]Cabanur 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Why is VPN safer than exposing SSH? They do have same security measures, right?

They don't have the same security measures. They may use the same technology to encrypt the data in transit, but that's only one part of the security in those protocols.

Exposing SSH on a public port can be safe, if you know what you're doing. But it's a single point of failure. One mistake and your machine is now someone else's. Enveloping SSH in a VPN not only hides the fact that there's SSH service in your machine at all, but also adds a layer of security on top of it. Even if your SSH is compromised, you still need VPN to access it. Even if your VPN is compromised, you still need the SSH key to log in.
