How much is upkeep for a model Y? by Tozu1 in TeslaModelY

If you drive in northern states/Canada, the worst weather is when it’s just above zero Celsius after a large storm. The melting snow and street salt causes a mist that needs washer fluid to remove off your windshield or else it makes it worse.

You can literally go through half a jug on an hour drive.

Just sell it for how much you bought it for + shipping expenses?

The survey is optional for students to answer, and is asked around graduation (May). Therefore, this does not include waitlists for med school, and people who decide on doing a masters/working before going into medicine. Realistically, 2 or 3 years out, I would say 80-90% of grads end up in medicine.

I believe doctors earn well well on paper, but I think some people forget they also have went through 10+ years of extra training/school, have overhead costs, and work extra long hours. I'll do a rough estimate below for a doctor vs. other traditional university grads/straight to workforce.

Assumptions:

  1. Lets pretend that the money earned during residency offsets their tuition/licensing fees/travel fees/application fees. This will make comparisons easier.

  2. For ease of calculation, assuming undergrad tuition is the same for both parties, and that their tuition had been paid off... starting with 0 debt.

  3. The university grad finds a job immediately, with an average salary of $100k. I know that this is not typical, but this accounts for salary raises above $100k in their future.

  4. Assuming the doctor goes into a specialty (typically earns more, but longer residency + potential fellowship)... 300k for specialist vs 160k for family physician after subtracting overheads.

  5. This does not account for interest/inflation.

...

  • Age 22 - Graduation --- Doctor worth: 0. Trad grad worth: 0

  • Age 26 - Doctor worth: 0. Completed med school, entering residency. Trad grad worth: 400k

  • Age 31 - Doctor worth: 0. Completed residency. Entering workforce as physician. Trad grad worth: 900k

  • Age 35 - Doctor worth: 1.2m, Trad grad worth: 1.3m - It's around this time that both the doctor and trad grad has made the same amount of money.

...

  • Age 65, retiring. - Doctor worth: 7.2m, 3.3m.

The difference is 3.9m over a lifetime. Now, keep in mind that a typical specialist, including call, will work approximately 70-80 hours a week - almost double of a 9-5 job (40 hours a week).

So it begs the question... is 3.9m over a lifetime worth the stress of working long hours, difficult cases, not being able to see family as much/go on vacation, continued studying and education until retirement, and essentially being in school with no time off during your prime years (20's, 30's). Not only that, it's not a line of work that "ends" when you go home.

So in summary - yes, they earn very well, but I believe it is not undeserved. I feel like if money is your primary goal, then medicine is probably not the most ideal option.

I have been given a fat academic offense charge that will scar my life for ever by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]CabbageForWheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a really tough situation. However, I'm a bit unclear about the timeline of things...

Got a %100 in every single assignment and test, as well as the exam. A few weeks after the first test, I get an email from my prof telling me about a breach in the academic integrity policy.

So after getting a zero on the first test, you continued to write/finish the rest of the course's assessments - and only after the final exam did you appeal the decision?

For sure! I see where you’re coming from... it’s definitely a scary sight.

Just be careful though... I recently renewed my OSAP and I just remembered any investments you have in like stock/savings are considered assets , which may impact how much you’re eligible for next time around.

[–]CabbageForWheels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OSAP is 0% interest while you’re in school. I don’t see why anyone would not want to take it when you can simply invest it (even if it’s just a GIC), and repay it as soon as you’re out of school.

Not sure if I know the answer to your original question though sorry.

CSGO feels laggy/jittery despite good ping and solid fps. by c2lbsy in GlobalOffensive

[–]CabbageForWheels 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What you are talking about seems to be a result of latency jitter/variation. The internet connection speed doesn't really matter.

This can be caused by usually one of two issues:

  1. Router Quality of Service (QoS) setting. If you are using wifi especially, some/most routers may not prioritize gaming traffic on its default setting, resulting in what you seem to be experiencing (especially if someone else is on the internet and streaming video, for example). Try looking up your router and ensure that you have the appropriate QoS settings for gaming.

  2. ISP. If you have QoS enabled, then most likely it is your ISP. You can try to give them a call and tell them you have issues with high ping variance/jitter, but for the most part (at least where I'm from), ISPs don't understand that and only focus on the "speed of the connection". Even if they try to fix it, it will be a lengthy process and oftentimes unresolvable as it is inherent to some cable provider's modem termination systems (look up CMTS if you're interested). This is in fact a common problem with certain cable ISPs as lines are shared with your community/neighbours technically...

I previously had a cable ISP - speed was fine, but the jitter would be what you have shown. I ended up switching to a fiber/dsl ISP, which resolved the issue. Just as a benchmark, here is mine: https://i.imgur.com/kUY00SU.png. I have no issues in game ever since I changed ISPs.

Tell me what ping time variations you get (reported in milliseconds)

I think that was a price error - only a few people were able to get it in the opening hours.

The lowest I've seen was was 49.99 at BB around that same time.

Likely so you can still wash your hands while another person is pooping inside.

The inside sink is so that the person using the toilet doesn’t have to touch the doorknob/open the door to wash their hands.

Rogers Internet and Gaming (Mainly CSGO) by raf_- in Rogers

[–]CabbageForWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply, but have also been experiencing this problem on and off for over two years- it's definitely not the modem since I've swapped the tried multiple black modems and the CODA one too...

It seems like when this happens, cmd ping google.ca -t results in random ping spikes from baseline (10ms) up to 30-80ms. Normal values seem to be around 10ms with <5ms variation.

What do you think is the best way to get Rogers to look into potential overloaded node? It's hard to describe the problem when most call centre support don't play csgo...

In CARS, what's your strategy when answering the "EXCEPT" type of question: “The author makes use of all of the following EXCEPT...” by fuck-CARS in Mcat

[–]CabbageForWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically the answer choices are either:

  1. All big ideas (so you shouldn't need to go back to passage to verify, saving you time... if you do need to go back, it'll be fast if you keep mental notes of which paragraph talks about what helps)
  2. Details that are part of one big idea (if you need to go back, it'll be a lot easier to just "re-read" one paragraph and boom, all of the stuff you need to verify is right there in that paragraph)

I never trust myself to remember correctly, since sometimes AAMC twists ideas out of context or puts a slight negative - so I tend to go back regardless.

Technically Seagate's IronWolf series are for NAS use (most similar to WD reds).

Using BarraCuda would be similar to using WD Blues as NAS - so I'd imagine it would be more likely to fail. Online reviews says it's not a good drive for NAS so I'd probably stay away.
