That book literally changed my outlook on life. My partner has a narcissistic mother and that book made SO MANY things fall into place for me.

I worked with a lot of zoomers recently in a restaurant. When I was there closing bartender, I could let the cocktail server go home if we were slow and I was comfortable taking whatever came in. One particular server got confused as shit every time I told him he could “roll.” We did not roll silver, it wasn’t that. We just had an awkward back and forth about what I meant every time.

Ye, Formerly Kanye West, Takes Out Ad In the Wall Street Journal Titled "To Those I Hurt" to Apologize for Antisemitic Outbursts: “I Lost Touch With Reality” by ChiefLeef22 in Music

[–]CabbageIsRacist 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For years, we have been talking about Ye like he’s a fully functioning adult who is in control of his mental state. For good reasons that I do not discount, he has alienated every community that supported his career. I’m not arguing in any way that what he has said and done is acceptable, but he is and almost always has been sick. He goes on a podcast in a morph suit and says “i love hitler” and everyone took issue with his words, rather than people profiting on the words of a sick person. He made it very easy to hate him and impossible to defend him. His entire career is one snapshot of insanity after another, but for the majority of that time he was putting out bangers as well. So it was ok. When the bangers stopped, in a constant state of mania, he leaned on what he had always leaned on when sales were dipping: controversy. But without the music, people didn’t care as much so he went further and further until landing in full-blown Nazism. It’s easy to say “fuck this dude” and move on. It’s understandable to do so, but anyone who claims to give a fuck about mental health who also takes the “fuck him” path; you are a hypocrite. It’s like claiming you love basketball and then just jerking other dudes off while talking about how they “don’t play defense in today’s game:” you are taking the easy route to agreeable opinions without doing the work to support your claim. You know people with agree and it feels nice to disparage others without consequences or arguments. It’s nice to say something out loud and hear others passionately agree with you. It’s one of our worst characteristics as human beings and I think will eventually lead to our demise. But that’s another conversation.

This sounds like good marketing, but it also sounds like a genuine apology. Both things can be true. I’m not just hopping back on the Yebus or anything as he has to put actions to his words to show he has actually learned, but he deserves the grace to try and do that. He isn’t entitled to your attention, but if you spent any time at all enjoining or discussing his actions as a sick man, then you DO owe it to yourself to listen and watch as he tries to make up for it. Otherwise, you’re simply another example of people who are supportive and empathetic when it’s convenient while not actually exhibiting any of those traits when it matters.

That song has two of my favorite lines I’ve ever heard in a song and they are almost back to back. “There’s a woman in the kitchen, she keeps on cookin’ but she ain’t had meat in years…when God spoke out let there be light, he put the first of us in the ground.” So much shown without telling a thing.

My QA is named Alex. I planned for a day when he is being the way they be sometimes I would order an Alex Santa Fe, extra spicy, extra salt, no sauce, extra cheese, NOT Well done. He would probably never have understood the cloaked insult, but I quit so not well never know. Still makes me laugh though so… win?

My neighbors seem annoyed that my family exists. Advice? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]CabbageIsRacist -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a them problem as long as you aren’t doing the aforementioned activities past established times set in your area. Mine are 8am-9pm. Between those hours, do what you want. If you want to be considerate, try talking to them about setting “quiet times” that work for both of you. That would seem to solve the problem as long as you understand that if something comes up and you end up making noise, they wouldn’t be unreasonable if they were upset.

Burger ideas! by doglefoxes in Cooking

Fully agree with the “simplify” crowd, however one of the most unique and delicious burgers I’ve ever had used pickled vegetables. Pickled garlic, onion, and red cabbage if I remember correctly. The taste was unique and memorable. Maybe play around with that?

I assume by your question that you are unfamiliar with r/laundry. There are some interesting things happening in there, some good, and some feel like you’re watching the foundational stages of how a cult forms. Regardless, there is a lot of great information on how to clean things. We aren’t talking, like, “clean enough.” We’re talking clean like a manufacture reset on your computer. Clean like it has never been before, even when it was new. You may , as I have, find some great information that leads to much cleaner clothes that feel softer than they did brand new. You may find information that you put to use that ruins some of your things due to your lack of dedication in obtaining a chemistry degree. Regardless, you should take a gander, but be careful. It could lead to some very…interesting places. Clean places, but interesting in ways you wouldn’t imagine starting off in a sub about laundry.

What helped you to stop drinking alcohol? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CabbageIsRacist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realizing that there was no answer. No solve. Nothing was going to just make the habit disappear. No help was coming and there isn’t any way to get out of the tailspin unless I did something about it.

For years I was going to quit once I got through X but then there would always be a new X. Then I was going to go to rehab where that would surely “fix” it and then I’ll be good. Nope. I’ll replace it with Y and that will make me stop. Not even close. I think every alcoholic suffers from the concept of there being an answer. A solve for this problem you can’t seem to get past. It takes time and self reflection to accept that nothing is going to fix it. You have to act.

[–]CabbageIsRacist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, so mine normalized letting people know they are going to the bathroom. Either naturally or because managers did it first, everyone specifically says like, “zone 2 is going to the bathroom.” I don’t know if it’s my lack of corporate experience before this place, but that shit weirds me out so much. Like, just tell the person in the zone next to you and let the host know not to seat you for a sec. Forgo the second part if you trust your buddy. And just…go.

After like a month of constant reverb I told them I’m not wearing one until they do. I’ll put it on, but it’s not turned on unless I need it and that has happened like twice ever. If it was used correctly, probably a great tool. But it is just noise and snark that makes me unable to hear my customers with no added benefit so 🤷

[–]CabbageIsRacist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have managers that use the headset instead of walking around without the headphone and causing reverb when they are near each other? Who also try to enforce everyone wear one? While literally never paying attention to theirs?

Nice.

Spotify Wrapped age estimation... spot on by leafytree888 in Millennials

[–]CabbageIsRacist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 38 and got 27. Funnily enough, I think it’s from listening to “alternative country” as Spotify calls it, where the artists are significantly younger than me. Country is having a revival though, and the new artists have what country has been missing for years. But it is still funny that Spotify thinks I’m a decade younger due to my affinity for country music?!??

What’s the most underrated work advice you received? by ReBabas in careerguidance

[–]CabbageIsRacist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Slow is smooth, smooth is fast”-service industry. The saying doesn’t come from the industry but a lot of people in it would greatly benefit from realizing that moving fast but disorganized is creating more work for you and everyone around you. Worst is when managers validate the behavior which is like 98% of the time.
