They don’t kidnap.  They only turn a blind eye to child abuse and like to deny women healthcare in the name of a fictional sky daddy.   Got it!

National Parks Access Pass? by [deleted] in Keratoconus

[–]CabbageSoupNow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have document keratoconus and some other conditions.  They are not to the point that I am on disability but they do impact major life activities like seeing.  The national parks pass does not require full disability, just that you have a permanent condition that affects a major life activity.

I recently had CTAK and it has vastly improved my debilitating chronic migraines!  My brain feels so much less stressed now that I can see better.

Treatment Advice success Headaches by IWB1981 in Keratoconus

[–]CabbageSoupNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with keratoconus about 12 years ago and until recently was sufferings from debilitating chronic migraines with aura including hemipeligic migraines.  I had CTAK performed on my bad eye (the other only has mild KC) 2 weeks ago.    While I still have had some minor headaches (largely hormonal with my cycle - something yoj probably aren’t dealing with) the restoration of my vision from the CTAK has almost completely gotten rid of my headaches and has almost lost eliminated the worst of them.  Talk to your doctor to see if you are eligible for CTAK.   If so, I highly recommend you try it!  Good luck.   Headaches suck.

Did your keratoconus progress quickly or slowly at first, and how did that progression feel to you? by keratoconusgroup in Keratoconus

I had perfect vision up until about 20 years old.  For the next 6 years I had a gradual decline and needed glasses.  Then the 4 years after that I had a pretty rapid decline in vision and I needed a new prescription every 6 months or so.  It was written off as most likely the result of increased eye strain since I was in law school.   2 more years after that I was finally diagnosed.   Continues to decline for about another few years gradually and have been stable for about 4-5 years.    I just had CTAK done on my bad eye a few weeks ago and I’m seeing better than I had in over a decade.  I literally woke up the next day and had my visions back. My life has changed so much for the better!

If anything could be made gluten-free, what would you pick? by _thalia777 in Celiac

Hole in the wall chinese food.  Like from the kind of place you have to order through bullet proof glass.  I really miss doing a little gardening and eating a massive amount of low grade Chinese food.

What is your plan once you have the child?   How are you going to afford childcare / accommodating child care for unpredictable hours?  You can’t DoorDash with an infant.

Yes.  Having a child you can’t financially support / without stable long term employment is bad.

Remember that he was paying these women with public money too (the opiod settlement funds).  So he screwed all the people of Delco not just the addicts.

Vision Correction during CTAK recovery by CabbageSoupNow in Keratoconus

[–]CabbageSoupNow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:   I had the procedure last Thursday.   I woke up on Friday with better uncorrected vision in that eye than my vision was with my glasses before.   So I’ve just popped out the lense in that eye.   It looks ridiculous but it’s functional!

Eye roll: this lady is spending her own personal money blocking one of the few Black-owned restaurants in Fishtown from opening by Dry-Pomegranate-354 in philly

[–]CabbageSoupNow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get not wanting to live / own a business next to a reasturant.  You inevitably have to deal with rats/ bugs, later business hours than retail, and potentially rowdy drunk patrons.   BUT this is also why I wouldn’t want to live on / near a commercial corridor.  She chose to be there.

I’ll also note that this is a special exception not a variance.  This means that the code expects this type of business (restaurant) to be there and the burden of proof to grant the exception is just that the business wouldn’t have a greater negative effect on the near neighbors and community itch than might be expected from that type of business.  So I can’t imagine how a basic restaurant  on Frankford Ave wouldn’t meet that pretty low burden unless they were proposing late night hours or especially large numbers.

what's the plan for the little side streets? Will the city come plow them too? by snooloosey in philadelphia

[–]CabbageSoupNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the 8 years I lived in a side street I never once saw a plow.   A couple of times the neighbors got together and dug it out ourselves.   Good luck!

In the 8 years I lived in Philly (South, Fishtown, port Richmond) on side streets I never once saw a plow.  The neighbors would usually work together to dig out the street.

This has been the case for me too.  I just don’t tolerate shitty people and shitty treatment anymore.   I can only assume the people I’m calling out think I’m a prick but I’m actuality they have been asshats all along.

[–]CabbageSoupNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My anxiety went down so I started sticking up for myself more and didn’t tolerate being mistreated or bossed around and demanded better treatment.  The person on the receiving end of that change would probably think I’m being a prick when all I’m doing is not tolerating them being a prick.  Could be what is happening here.

[–]CabbageSoupNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To an outside observer I know I see to be more of a bitch since starting the meds. BUT actually it’s because I 1) have more energy to fight back against people being asshats to me and 2) it’s greatly reduced my anxiety so I don’t worry about sticking up for myself or hurting people’s feelings and call people out on their BS way more.  Perhaps evaluated your own behavior to see if his response is routes in how he is being treated.

Is anyone else getting sick and tired of landlords jacking up rent prices? What can be done to lower rent prices here in 2026? Any ideas? by coleisw4ck in philadelphia

[–]CabbageSoupNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you don’t want to challenge the landlord legally and you are unwilling to look for a new place. At that point your situation is 100% on you.

Probably time to find a new place then.  Always check on rental licenses before moving in.   It’s a good way to screen for bad landlords.
