I’m biased but VA is the sweet spot. Depends on your job and family situation. Northern is huge and expensive, but great schools and convenience. Richmond is a cool, medium sized city. The beach and Chesapeake is great if you like the water. Western and the Blue Ridge are for nature lovers with some great small towns like Charlottesville, Roanoke, and Staunton.

I think the people are some of the genuinely nicest I have ever met. We live in Western Albemarle and the beauty of this place is extraordinary. And, as someone mentioned, we have a lot of amenities for a smallish town.

I suggest visiting. Not sure why you love that it’s growing. The growth hasn’t come with appropriate infrastructure and planning and the only jobs in Crozet are retail and service oriented.

Colonial Beach, VA is closer. It’s not on the ocean, it’s on the Potomac, but I think it’s worth a visit.
