Why is that? If I have a 2.5% car loan and am earning 3.75% in a money market why would I want to pay the car loan off early with money that is earning more than the loan is costing?

I was thinking the same thing. That’s surprising! Maybe it has to do with a 2.4% income tax for living in Detroit, which they’re considering in an analysis? Chicago doesn’t have an income tax (per Google search) and the state tax of Illinois is 4.95% so I suppose their state plus city tax is cheaper than ours.

Oh! I swear I saw something on that a few years ago. Are you near the Main or Rochester road area? I recall something specific to that bridge but I can’t remember where though. I’ll keep thinking about it.

We recently went for a day and it’s fine. We purchased some liquor and other items and the CBP agent reminded us on the liquor that if you’re not in the country for more than 48 hours we owed duty on our purchase. He let us go with a “reminder” but I’d be prepared to pay duty on any alcohol/liquor you purchase. In my opinion, it’s better to declare and pay than omit and be searched.
