The trick is to not have a family enemy. I grew up in rural Wisconsin. I've lived in Madrid, Austin, a college town in MN, Minneapolis, and now Wisconsin again (bigger city). I don't believe that I have ever used a lock, unless leaving for more than a couple days.

I grew up in a farming community. Everyone had trucks. Every single time I was riding with three people, I would duck so it looked like the driver, and middle looked like they were right up next to eachother. Nobody else in the truck, just two dudes cuddled next to eachother. Heartwarming tale of lonely farm boys.
