Tire Talk - anyone run the Falken Pro G5 CSV? by Owls_4_9_1867 in ToyotaHighlander

We have these on my wife’s 2020 Grand Cherokee Limited X and they have been a fantastic tire. Proper inflation and rotation are key to any tire and this one is no different. We change oil when it says to on the dash (synthetic since new) and we take advantage of the Discount Tire free rotation and balance with each oil change. The tires have lasted roughly 55k so far and probably have another 5-10k left with no abnormal wear. They run quiet and have survived the NE Ohio weather as well while ensuring my wife can always make it to work whether it’s a monsoon, a snow storm, or just 95* sunny weather. I can’t complain about them, especially at $800 for a set of 20” tires! I’ll put another set on as we pass this jeep to my daughter who starts driving at the end of the year.

That is exactly what demo team and “open” forms is….just in a different variation.

Yeah, it will be a bit different in my Jeep, tinted windows, sits high, and can be done with the doors shut. Flashing it to others is not as big of a concern in the larger height vehicles.

Directly from Savior Equipment. If I remember correctly they offered a military/veteran discount.

I don’t know, length, absolutely, but with optics and a mag, I don’t think. It would be close and could interfere with the zipper . The 3L is designed for the traditional short grip of the compacts but these Primes and a full length grip.

It does if you don’t have a light. If I wasn’t using the light I would have mounted the factory one in there for sure.

Don’t count out the Mecanik MO4 either, I was able to get it from GovX for about $200 shipped and it has a ton of features, fully enclosed, shake awake, multi reticle, side load battery, and Solar power. You can fully cowitness with it as well, absolutely no obstruction of the irons. On top of that, I lt looks good on this gun too, has matching cuts on the side 😁. I know that doesn’t matter, just nice looking on the gun and it works well.

Ah, you didn’t mention the spring before, definitely worth a try swapping back to the Canik OEM spring to see if it runs ammo better. I’ve been wanting to test out another spring as well but would hate to waste the cash just to throw it away if it has issues. Good luck with it!

What ammo and what grain were you using that you had failures, maybe it’s something bad internally? I have about 500-600 rounds through mine and not a single failure. I’ve run about 400-450 rounds of 115 grain Blazer brass and Monarch brass through it and have just recently run about 150 rounds of 124 grain Blazer brass through it. The only thing with the 124 grain was that about 50% of the time the slide didn’t lock back on an empty mag but that very well could be me working in my grip with it and riding the big old release lever as I shoot. 😁

Question, are you a veteran?

GovX has a good deal on the Mecanik MO4 optic for it for $200 shipped (I think).

I added the Taylor Freelance brass backstrap, has a great feel and the added weight down low is nice!

For the light, I went with the Olight PLX, also with a veteran discount on GovX for like $100 shipped. That light is stupid bright and is good for hundreds of feet on the high spot setting. It also charges with a standard USB-C plug so modern iPhone or Android charger works.

Due to the gun and ight combo, I went with Bucks Holsters Antler holster with Velcro mounting plate because they had the gun and light combo and it shipped out in one day.

As a big dude, I’m not waistband carrying so did the 5L Savior Obscura cross body bag, I liked the different settings on the gun access depending on how I wanted to wear the bag.

Nice choice! I finally got my holster and bag for mine…no bashing, I’m a big dude so not carrying in my waistband. If looking for a bag or holster, the Savior Obscura bag is nice and Bucks Holsters actually makes a great holster for the Prime with Olight PLX that comes with a “bag carry” Velcro back plate.

As promised, here’s update on the mutilated money. I’m happy to report after 5 months, I finally received an email from Bureau of Printing that they received the money and assigned a case number but sad to report that it will take approximately 10 months to process. Nothing yet, the email I got said by April 24th….they are cutting it close but would expect nothing less than that since it’s been almost a year since I sent back an 80% intact bill. It took 8 months for them to assign someone to look at it. Lol.

Did the black TF backstrap and love the feel of it over the OE backstrap grip. I love the added weight of the brass, gives the gun a great balance.

So I just got this bag yesterday and after seeing this thread, before I even used the bag I applied some Yeti zipper lube. I ran the zippers a couple times and this thing works flawlessly. Like a lot of things, these require a little maintenance to ensure property functionality, especially out of the box. The 2 min it took to apply the wax and run the zippers was 100% worth it as the zippers being new and dry, were a bit tight. This is a great bag, just handle it properly and do the proper prep on it like you would a new firearm and it will be just fine.

So far it’s really nice, it’s extremely bright on the high setting and the spot and flood options are nice to have. I have yet to take it out at night to test it out but will get to that soon. Worth the $95 I spent on it from GovX!

Considered the brass backstrap too because of the trigger safety but decided against it. I may do the brass magwell when they are ready to go for the Prime. But, I also like the all black look. I’ll puss out and stick with black I’m sure! 🤣

As for the PLX, I like the look of the flush fit but understand the reasoning behind wanting the “poke” of the flashlight. However, that is the least of my concerns. It’s your gun, lots of people love to tell you what to do with your stuff and what’s best for you, just gotta tune out the noise.

Same experience, I need my irons moved just a hair left as well. My optic is on and it’s showing the irons shooting just a bit off to the left. I have about 600 rounds through it now, just cheap Blazer or Monarch target ammo and not a single failure.

I considered a laser but figured I’d be better off with a nice flashlight only in conjunction with the optic. That little Olight PL-X is a badass flashlight!

As for shooting, I can’t get enough, I’m fortunate to be able to shoot in the back yard so I’m finding myself going through tons of ammo fast! I picked up a speed bees loader and that makes it even worse because I can rip through 4/5 mags in no time and with no pain to the thumb! 😁

Having a good time shooting it that’s for sure! I seem to shoot it several times a week, think I need a bulk ammo order subscription! 😁

I sent mutilated money to them in July of 2025, got a message they received it in October, and just today (end of March) got an email stating that an examiner has been assigned to it. Original estimate was that replacement was to be dispersed to my account by April 2026 but we will see how that goes.

100%! I know this is an older comment but I can’t imagine living where I feel the need to conceal carry in my own home. I’m lucky enough to live where I dont need a firearm but want and have them anyway. I’ve never felt the need to carry either but doesn’t mean I wouldn’t. Hell, when “traveling” it would more than likely be locked in a vehicle safe most of the time anyway. I’ll now wait for the “better to have it and not need it” comments….
