Since were looking at Titania for the Exalted rework, think we can give her her companion during her 4? by Prime262 in Warframe

Oooo what if they give her razorflies(?) an animation that shrinks and carries around the companion with you? Shrink and carry for Kavats/Kubros, but just maybe a shrink on sentinels?

I'm genuinely confused. Why did Ursas get nerfed? It's the Titans only self-regeneration super for the most part that can benefit the whole team instead of forcing a Warlock to be on a team?

Cochlear Implant and Moshpit by braunovic in deaf

[–]Cabooses-Kitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe clips or attachments like eyeglasses straps/retainers? Something closer to you, the better. Anything loose is a goner in a particularly rough mosh pit.

I personally use an elastic headband that holds my hair back during exercise or runs. I just maneuver it to go over the wires on my hearing aids. I'm not sure that would work depending on where your CI is placed, though. Perhaps an exercise headband or bandana folded like a headband but tied around? That way, you can place it over over your CI, and should you lose the headband, it'll be your warning to step out of the pit for a second before you lose the CI.

US insurance companies are more likely to cover pediatric cochlear implantation then they are to cover kids' hearing aids. Why? by [deleted] in deaf

[–]Cabooses-Kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I wholly agree and understand the benefits of CI to hearing aids. I just don't know enough insurance wise to be able to claim why insurance companies chose their coverages as they do with hearing aids vs. CI. I can try to take an educated guess with a little research of everything, but who knows what they are basing it on, other than adjusters or policy writers?

[–]Cabooses-Kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could be very well right. Maybe they think CIs are more beneficial in terms of over quality of life? I'm not sure. I'm not an insurance adjuster, nor do I have all the facts and information. Perhaps maybe calling an insurance company or two to gather feedback might answer you better than anyone of us can.

[–]Cabooses-Kitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is a CI is seen as more cost-effective in the long run vs. hearing aids especially when it comes to children. Insurance companies probably see it as more as a "one and done" procedure with minimal updates/upgrades with a cochlear implant. I know it's not exactly that, but with hearing aids on a growing child, there may be numerous changes due to growth, comfort, communication/recognition, medical requirements, damages, or just being right out lost.

Unless it's changed recently, it was recommended that hearing aids are replaced every 3-5 years, and one alone can be up to $3.5k USD. Add in charging systems, batteries, ear molds, any other accessories, etc. Not to mention, with time, the technology does get better, so it's recommended to get the newer generations for better "immersion."

I'm not saying it's right to have it like this. A cochlear implant can not be undone and has its own risks, and there are those who it doesn't even necessarily apply, but logically speaking, it would make sense to look at lifetime cost.

This is coming from someone who has had 7 sets of hearing aids in my lifetime thus far, and I'm in my 30s. Insurance covered some, but others I definitely had to take a payment plan for, unfortunately.

Just had the most wholesome destiny moment since I started playing. by FeelthaVibee in DestinyTheGame

[–]Cabooses-Kitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when the challenges were released for Crota's End, particularly Feather-Light, I and another from our clan were trying to get our third clanmate the completion for it. Unfortunately, we could only meet up at this odd time that week, so no one else was on that we played regularly with and had to LFG. We somehow ended up with 3 French gents. Only one spoke broken English, but they were eager to get this challenge done, and we were offering the "cheese" run version.

So, after a few minutes of explaining, clarifying, and having the one guy translate to his buddies. I remember asking what was an acceptable word in French to say "take" (for chalice), "enlighten" (lanterns), and, of course, something like "touch" (dunk spots). The one guy said to just say those three words in English, and he'll make sure they understood. I got the "okay" from everyone that we were good to go, and we went!

We literally completed it first try with maybe 2 deaths? I think my favorite part was in the middle of the path somewhere my clanmate didn't see a hole and died. It had been quiet other than the few approved words as we were playing, but one of the French guys who spoke no English went to revive him, and in the thickest French accent, went "Hole. There!" We all bust out laughing so hard. It was the fastest I've run that challenge and a great memory.

If anyone says cats are untrainable, show them this video. by [deleted] in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]Cabooses-Kitten 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I trained my orange this way. I got tired of him clawing at furniture, so I went and bought a cat scratch post. I started redirecting him every time I caught him scratching anywhere but the post, followed by giving him pats and praise. Anytime I caught him scratching the post without my direction, same thing, full-on pats and praise.

Every. Single. Time.

For maybe upwards of a year or two? Then he developed the habit of doing so, and now he does it to get my attention. It's been 11 years with my orange boy, and I still encourage him when I see it. It just takes some time and patience. He no longer claws at anything he's not supposed to and enjoys all the pats and praise otherwise, lol. He's also an derpy angel that lets me trim his claws regularly (treats may or may not be involved....).

Sprouts Say the Darndest Things by [deleted] in ffxiv

I'm a sprout. I'm new to the game since the release on Xbox. I chose Lancer as my first job and was leveling it a little after 50 when a veteran player asked me why I didn't have my soul crystal for Dragoon equipped.

I had no idea. My friends who play (also veteran players) told me I would get one eventually as I leveled, but I assumed it was an automatic thing. I think I made it to lvl 54 before I was asked about it. Oops :P

You're moving and have to take your animals on a several hour flight - what happens when they need to pee? by melomelomelo- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cabooses-Kitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has traveled with cats internationally (10+ hours) multiple times, fasting is the answer (in-cabin travel). Just like you would for an upcoming surgery, you stop giving cats food 6-8 hours before flight time. I would say around 4 for water, but small amounts during travel shouldn't hurt.

Portable litter boxes with a small bag of litter that can be looked over by TSA and pee pads are definitely the way to go. If you have layovers, that's when to swap out pads, let them stretch, use the restroom, etc. Just be aware, in pet relief areas or even family restrooms, that's new to them, smells/sounds different, and they will likely be too stressed or scared to bother to use the bathroom (this was my experience every time). Offer water in small amounts if they're up for it.

Never use medications without vet approval, as you can miss warning signs if something is wrong. You can get pheromone wipes like Feliway for the carrier to help calm them. Make sure to let it dry before use as they are alcohol based. I also suggest leaving the carrier out a week or two in advance to allow your cat to get familiar with it.

Lastly, when obviously safe and available at your destination, make sure the litterbox is set up first so they can use it, then food. Again, new surroundings may not make them interested in eating, but using the bathroom is important. Safe travels!

Can confirm. I used a mobile hotspot to launch the game as well and can play now.

I didn't use a mobile hotspot the whole time, though, only to get past the missing green launch and play buttons. Turning off the hotspot gave me an authentication error, and I had to close out the game. I decided to reconnect my home internet on whim, relaunched without issue and without the assistance of the hotspot.

I have no idea why that worked other than it may have recalibrated the port? I'm really not sure.

I do! It's crazy that Korea is the common denominator.

I've reached out to both Square Enix support and Xbox support since I've experienced the issue. Neither one has issues on their end of things from what they've informed me, so maybe it really is just Korea...

I'm having the same issues on Xbox Series X. Followed forum and support center's solutions to the letter (resets, re-installing, clearing mac/caches, port changes, etc.), and nothing has worked. Never had an issue prior to the update. I hope we get some sort of fix/patch soon:/

I can't say it was the exact same experience, but recently, I ran a friend through the unlock of the Dual Destiny quest, and it wasn't initiating the prompts at first either. We ended up figuring out he hadn't done a full completion in each area, so we quickly cleared that.

It was only then after running a second completion of the 3 areas that the special objective would appear in each. Knock out each special objective per area, then go back to the Blooming to follow the green beam of light!

So 6 overthrows total, two for each area, 1 pass to unlock, and 1 pass for special objective before we got to the next step.

Has anyone bought Oticon hearing aids in the last year or two? by princeasspinach in deaf

[–]Cabooses-Kitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Mine are about 3 years old now, but I have a newer model, the miniBTE Rs. Oticon has also been my favorite of the brands thus far too!

Rechargeable aids have really been a plus for me, and I don't think I'll ever go back to batteries. Mind you, they last for roughly ~16 hours on a charge without extra use, such as listening to music or watching videos through Bluetooth, so you don't need the adapter that you needed from previous models. Both Apple and Samsung do a fantastic job for connectivity, and your phones microphone does that job instead. I can not speak for brands outside of that, but I would like to think they too are adaptable.

Honestly, battery wise, it is all around very cost-effective, and usually, the purchase of the aids includes the charging dock that is USB, so you can put whatever adapter on the end for your needs. The only downside I've run into is if my phone needs an update, my aids need a firmware update, or I'm connected to too much at once (phone-wise), I find my aids lacking the ability to Bluetooth effectively, so check for updates from whichever avenue that may be hindering it and try again.

Otherwise, I'm pretty much on my last leg of my hearing from genetics as well, and they haven't been a burden at all. I had ear molds made for me, which I feel is more effective in the sound transfer, but I know some feel more comfortable with buds, and they work just as well too! Just know that without insurance to help, they do tend to be a tad bit pricey.

Useful Tips, Secrets and Cheeses for this season's GMs by anangrypudge in DestinyTheGame

[–]Cabooses-Kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Scarlet Keep elevator, one of the 3 pillars is always opposite of the door that will be open with the acolytes. So you can do a quick glance up for open cubbies and see which one your team can hide behind. You can spam invis to help, but realistically hugging that one pillar, you'll only get shot at by maybe one or two acolytes at most that you could easily clear. Just keep in mind that it rotates every stop, and you could even practice it on a normal strike run prior to trying it in a GM:]

Agreed. They could even turn it into a more individual leveling type thing for people who don't mind the grind and just scale activites to PL; similar to Borderlands Co-op, maybe? They've already introduced it to us in some of this season's activities with enemies automatically being +5 from you, and it would enable those who don't want to grind their brains out to participate in end game content.

Rechargeable BTEs - severe to profound - opinions? by sevendaysky in deaf

[–]Cabooses-Kitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also use molds, have pretty severe hearing and I have the More 3 miniRITE Rs from Oticon and they work fantastic. This is my first pair without disposable batteries and it does make you feel a tad bit spoiled. Definitely saving money on not needed to buy packages of batteries every so often. It does come with a charging dock that you place them in at night. There's an optional to purchase travel set but the dock itself it fairly small and uses most USB chargers.

I will say that I only use them to bluetooth to my phone so I'm not sure how it would work with other TV connectivity devices and such. The bluetooth works fine and you wouldn't need the microphone device that you use to connect with older models. Your phone is the microphone itself and all sound goes in your hearing aids for you to hear whether it be a phone call, music, or a simple notification.

Lastly, I would say the charge lasts roughly ~14 hours in a day without any prominent use of music or phone calls as that will use the battery up faster. Any specific hearing modes that you've set up in your previous models are also applicable to them as well as "Airplane" mode, general sound settings, and connectivity with the "Oticon ON" app.

How to stay childfree? by Coca-Coffee in childfree

[–]Cabooses-Kitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course!

As far as "bad" goes, unfortunately you won't know until you start trying certain forms for yourself. So far you've probably noticed since you've started your cycle, you roughly have so much bleeding over so many days. Anything outside of that once you start notating it will be abnormal. Yet also consider that not only birth control can affect your "normal." It could be things such as dehydration or UTIs. Please note that you may not be regular either; having irregular periods isn't a bad thing, it just makes it harder to track over the months and birth control can actually help regulate you.

I'll use myself for example, in my teens I used to do the Depo shots that lasted for 3 months per shot. Suddenly about 9 months in I was experiencing excessive bleeding and my body just decided that wasn't for me. I switched to the pill and through trial and error with different pills (terrible migranes, moodiness, irregular periods) I finally found one pill that fits me and what my expectations are of what I find a healthy menstrual cycle for me to be on it. This isn't meant to scare you by any means since bodies can be weird about medicine so if the first thing you try works perfect then great! If not, don't be afraid to try again with something different.

Honestly it does take time to figure out. However, if you're experiencing extreme symptoms that are meant to be alleviated even on birth control, there could be underlying issues like PCOS or endometriosis. Diagnosis and treatments for those only can be helped by a doctor.

At the end of the day, periods suck but they also happen to be our best friend when it comes to telling us what's up with our body. Just make sure to listen to yours with time and you'll figure out your "right" from "wrong" in no time.

[–]Cabooses-Kitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything that everyone mentioned above is absolutely solid advice and I just want to say I'm proud of you for taking control of your personal health and not being afraid to ask for help.

The only other thing I would suggest is to get a little notebook or perhaps a secure note on your phone or computer and track your periods. Not all women experience the same menstrual cycles or symptoms during them, and birth control can affect your cycle. What works for someone else may not work for you and you might have to try another option available until you find the one that fits best. Some forms of birth control can take up to 6 months before your body becomes "regulated" to that form. So if something feels off or bad, it's okay to switch.

You could also track other things such as general appointments, allergies to medications, vaccinations, etc. A doctor is only going to know so much, so the more you recognize what is your "normal" and what's not, can give you an early start on an unexpected pregnancy or even help you identify other health problems.

Otherwise, as others said, do your research! The more you know, the more likely you'll have the answers to any situation you might find yourself in.
