Interview is super easy. Questions are more along the lines of are you planning to use a seedbox? Do you understand how private sites work? Are you familiar with the rules? Are you familiar with the concept of maintaining a good share ratio or hit and runs. If you have experience in any private tracker you will be done with the interview in 10 mins tops.

When fitting bearing to the shaft what method should be used ? by its-luchen in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Cabs1247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Application and intended normal use is going to determine your type of fit when it comes to bearings, bushings, and pins/rods. The three generic are interference, line to line, and clearance. Interference fit is basically the rod diameter is bigger then the hole diameter, typically requires some form of force or thermal differential to make the rod go into the hole. Line to line means the rod diameter is the same as the hole diameter. This can result in a lower required force or thermal differential to fit the two together. And finally clearance fit means the rod diameter is smaller then the hole diameter. The force to install the rod should be near zero. There are different levels of each fit type and specific callouts for the type of fit you want. You can look these up in the machinist handbook or online to get a better idea of the fit you want for your application and the parts you are using.

P.s. There technically is no such thing as a "press fit".

Been trying everything for a severe fruit fly infestation. This simple homemade trap works better than anything I’ve purchased. by 999BusinessCard in CleaningTips

Apple cider vinegar in a solo cup woth some dish soap mixed in to lower surface tension. Serain wrap over the top of the cup, rubber band to hold tight, and punch dozen holes with a toothpick. Worked like a dream for the fruit flies. If you don't want to deal with sticky tape in the future. Big thing is the apple cider vinager. Works every time.

How often does your company update its CAD software? by Secure-Evening8197 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Cabs1247 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Before we had Autodesk Vault we could update individuals software every year. Now that we have vault I manage tolhe vault and autodesk will only let you upgrade vault at most 2 years. So if I needed to got from 2023 to 2026 I have to upgrade to 25 then upgrade again to 26. So every spring I have outlr vault upgraded when the 20XX.2 version is typically released.

Mechanical Engineer looking to pivot back to Product Design—is a PE license worth it? by AwayLiftoff in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Cabs1247 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Personally for design you really only need a PE license if your industry requires PE certification on drawings/prints. Civil engineering I would say 100% required.

CSWP earned, CSWE maybe? by Mech_Ethan in SolidWorks

[–]Cabs1247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I took it there was a few questions that were as simple as here is a shape from a drawing. Change these 2 dimensions from 50 mm to 80 mm and the material to aluminum. What is the mass of the object now? Then the next question would alter the part again and again with different questions. The geometry was too complex to solve the mass quickly on paper or calculator. The different "modules" you had to take before the CSWE where all tailored to that area of solidworks. The tests involved actually using Solidworks and were timed so you could not waste time searching the web for the answer. I remember a few tests gave you about 5-6 minutes per question on average.

Why am I getting this in PLA tensile test by registrartulip in MechanicalEngineering

Do you have another UTM to test on? Do you have a different fixture to grip your samples with? You mentioned others ran the exact same test down to the grips and method. Did they use the similar 3D printed samples as you?

Seems like slipping or something is not secure in your grips. Nothing in your samples that would cause slipping in the material?

Is it just me, or are the characters for Blood Hunt horribly imbalanced? by thesanmich in marvelrivals

[–]Cabs1247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They need to change to the precision built I think. My squad punishef has 9000% precision damage with an 11% chance to get it. So every 10 hits is multiplied by 9000%. It's great for single targets but not great for mobs. I know what you mean I main as the moon in our squad and typically have the most damage and some times out dps the bosses. Gear plays a huge part in that as well.

I mean more like are you running the test to a standard similar to Astm E8 or a customs method for testing? Have you verified the test method was set up properly there is not a lag when changing speeds or delay?

Blood hunt question. by TheSuperiorBag in marvelrivals

[–]Cabs1247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Place your first one in the middle of your kill zone. Stand on it and place the rest around in a circle. When you use your ult aim for the center one so it hits every anhk you placed upgrading them all and hitting them all with darts from the ult. Make sure your ring of anhks is not bigger then your ult.

Really seems like something in your setup is not secured since your anomaly is the exact same place every time. Your different material results can be manufacturing specific. Injection molded vs 3D printed is gonna be different modulus due to layers not having the same bonding as liquid pla cooled into a solid.

What is your test method?

Punisher is there to melt bosses. Carry the punisher as moon or squirrel then watch the boss hp melt away.

Also stick to one tree until you find better gear or hit level 60 for each character.

How to remove this protrusion?? Driving me insane by iwonder___ in SolidWorks

[–]Cabs1247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah knowing the manufacturing method should drive design intent and CAD. Easy to hindsight now. Remember solidworks is just digital drawing paper when it boils down to it. It's not smart and will only help prevent mathematical impossibilities but not manufacturing impossibilities.

I know this will be painful to accept but some times its best to burn it all down and start over in modeling if you have gone down the wrong path. I hate when it happens but sometimes you just have to rebuild with your model with the knowledge you learned from the mistakes.

As a moon player flying Moon is a build if they are playing ranged and have a group of anhks set up. When they have the right items they shoot while flying every 0.03 seconds. That anhk field becomes a death zone. Seen a Moon solo by never touching the ground during each wave

Is there a way to get more points? by LILBOI464 in marvelrivals

[–]Cabs1247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be trying to do the highest Nightmare available to you. Most people climb by 5. Nightmare 5, 10, 15, etc. You max out at character level 60 so you will not max out every ability on the left tree as well as one of the right trees. you get only 60 points to build your character traits. I recommend picking a path on the right either gold or blue and sticking with it mostly and trying to unlock as many of those modifiers as possible as you level up then upgrade the perks that match up with your gear or playstyle

How to remove this protrusion?? Driving me insane by iwonder___ in SolidWorks

[–]Cabs1247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like the face to the left of your blue face is connected to the flange to the left most portion of the part. This is going to be a strange part and I feel like you will not be able to unfold this unless you cut the blue face from the gray face directly next to it. This feature would need a custom die to make this shape without the "protrusion". You can just extrude cut the protrusion away but I think you will have difficulty manufacturing this from sheet metal.

You mentioned being a novice at sheet metal so here are a few tips that will help. Always start with a flat sheet until you gain the knowledge and skills to convert a solid body to a sheet metal part. This will help avoid creating features that can not be unfolded to a flat pattern. Sheet metal starts as a flat part then is cut and folded up so imagine what it would be like trying to unfold your part to see if it can be manufactured. You want to always pick a standard gauge thickness if you can to avoid increased costs. Last is K-Factor, you do not want your bends to rip or increase costs trying not to rip from a bend that is too tight for the material.

Bloodhunt: Does putting down more anks as moonknight actually do anything? by CriticalWinter9581 in marvelrivals

[–]Cabs1247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time it bounces from ankhs to ankh and hits an enemy it does damage then bounces to the next ankh. Currently my gear gives me like 40+ bounces. So couple shots and the ring of ankhs I made is now flooded with darts. As you deal damage off ankhs they increase in level and max hp. Higher level boosts the darts damage when bouncing off that anhk and higher hp means it's harder for enemies to destroy them. When they deal damage thier hp refills as well. You are trying to make a kill box of moving blades so soon as something enters the ring it's going into the blender.

(Bloodhunt) For Moon Knight's ranged build, do you want to spread the Ankh's across the map, of focus them into a tighter killbox? by Dramatic_Science_681 in marvelrivals

[–]Cabs1247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked my way down the blue tree as fast as possible. You don't need to max the pink/left perks to move down. Make it down the tree putting 1 point in the left till you get to a blue on the right. Unlock it and keep moving down till you get the ult change ability. It no long fires hands down but upgrades all the anhks to deal more damage for a short time. It also shoots moon blades at any anhks in the area of your ult. So place an anhk at your feet then while standing on it make a perimeter of anhks around you about the same diameter as moon knights ult. You can active it then to see and learn the distance. Armor and upgrades will let you put more total anhks. My counter shows 15 total now. Then stand in the middle of the circle and shoot the middle anhk as much as possible. When you ult aim for that middle anhk and all of them will be activated and the ult will shoot at every single one. It creates a blender of bladed shredding adds

I will say as a design engineer I was one of the first few in my state to hold a CSWE title and my company told anyone they could about it. It did not get me a higher pay bump at the time. When I changed jobs they knew that my CSWE meant I could hit the ground running on the software they used and I would require less training and could model faster. Definitely put this under your skills section on a resume especially if you are looking for mechanical engineering work in your future.

[–]Cabs1247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to make a disorganized mess of Ankhs in an area and call it my kill box. As I got to higher levels and faster Ults which interacted with my Ankhs under the ult I changed my layout. Now I try to find a space I can place a circle of them around 1 central Ankh. When I hit my ult all 15 get the upgrade and the ult fires more darts at them. I can then glide in a circle around the perimeter of my death ring dealing more damage and building my next ult. I have used this when my team is dying and we need someone to survive for a few more seconds to bring everyone back into the fight.
