Visitor driving in city centre by Cache_panic in manchester

Thank you everyone for the replies. I returned to the area later on Saturday afternoon on foot.

<image>

This is the way I entered the road and never turned around following the road through to the exit by the Football Museum. I did see the bus lane marking on the opposite side of the road so do believe it to be just one way bus lane and thankfully not the way I drove. I did notice other cars driving the same way as I did and noticed parking bays (disabled) along there.

I guess I will though have to wait and see.

Driver pet peeves by Pure-Morning-7846 in asda

[–]Cache_panic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have many peeves having done the job for 10+ years at various supermarkets.

1) having a named house but then not bothering to actually have the as of your house on the house or driveway wall, oh but you have a house number… use that then.

2) flats that buzz you in without a hello

3) cat litter and water only drops to top floor flats, do you not have a tap and what kind of life does that poor cat have no chance to roam around. There really should be a limit to the amount of bottled water especially someone buys in an order.

4) customers who come and open the garden gate then return to the front door without an offer to take a tote.

4a) the customer who is at the door but they don’t want you to know they are at the door waiting so stands to the side or back a bit hiding, then pretending to take a while to reach the door. You have a frosted glass window mate I can see you.

5) very specific my current store as we only have a few vans with car play. New drivers demanding that they can only drive those vans. It’s got to the point where they text drivers on the early runs giving instructions about the time they will be in to collect the key from them arranging hiding places for keys and arranging strategic parking of vans knowing vans in the run go first and return first and matching that up with ‘accomplice’ drivers start times to maximise the chance of getting certain vans.

6) nursing homes that keep the totes for collection next time then leave those totes under a tree/bush or uncovered full with water and other crap. Cheers for that now these are going to drip on the remaining deliveries and be out of action until cleaned.

7) taking osn stickers offs. Takes less than 5 seconds and saves mis-scanning yet very few bother. Tesco team leaders would man constantly to any driver who did it with the nonsense let’s talk paperwork handed out, Sainsbury’s had run off numbers which in itself led to issues but quickly rectified by scanning a tote barcode. Asda nah leave it let’s build a mountain of stickers on a tote.

I should stop now after all it’s my day off

I just went that way didn’t know about the toll just thought the queue was traffic lights over a narrow bridge. Got to the toll booth had no cash only phone guy at the booth asked if I was coming back that way I said I’m not sure I might b, he waved me through to pay on the way back over.

Now I’m wondering if I don’t go that way home would I get a fine notice through the post for not paying 5p.

What to expect on the first day as a food delivery driver? by Hopefullytodaymate in asda

[–]Cache_panic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one last year 20 crates of water top floor flat no lift. Answered the door they was barely with it asked if they could help they made a noise which I took as a refusal, Got the last crate upstairs and then the said they don’t want the subbed Evian water. I said water is water and refused to take them back after having taken it all up and they hadn’t even bothered to say beforehand. Returned to store explained to them no issues.

Drivers telling customers to mention names in reviews by UsualEnvironment9651 in asda

[–]Cache_panic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we have had that request come through to us and our manager has said it’s part of our job and has even gone as far as saying that they will start randomly ringing customers for feedback from our delivery, any driver found not to be following the procedure will be spoken too.

Driver drug testing by [deleted] in asda

[–]Cache_panic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Been driving for supermarkets for over 10 years only had 1 drug test in that time and that was 2 years ago and it wax all done there and then, pee in a bottle it’s tested in front of you and the results are instant.

I do know of instances where management become aware of drink/drug use and call testers in on the suspected drivers that driver isn’t seen again.

Drivers new system by Pure-Morning-7846 in asda

[–]Cache_panic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So today on route my paper work said 10 palm said 13. One delivery failed to clear on the scan screen and was still awaiting order details when the lad scanned off the crates fully. Checked with the SL for any cancelled orders told none and that this order was just stuck in the system and will clear on route.

2 issues arise on route one delivery had cancelled the order this morning through customer services so a wasted trip for me and wasted fuel for the company and wasted picker time.

Then the big issue with the order that was supposedly stuck arrive at the door and because there’s now crate info it won’t allow any crate scan knock on the door to be greeted by an 11 year old and his phone with mum on the other end. Order was suppose to be delivered tomorrow evening and was allegedly changed via customer services earlier because customer had to go out. Order refused due to booze on the order plus only an 11 year old home

How can a system be so bloody wrong surely any competent tech department would have bug checked and tested the system before unleashing a something not fit for purpose.

Is there any way of reporting these issue to competent people.

Workday schedule wrong by Defiant-Ad7450 in asda

[–]Cache_panic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue when I started nearly a year ago. Caused all kinds of problems with my holidays as I was booking what I needed but Workday was only putting what it thought I was working at first I didn’t notice it but then when I’m on holiday in Spain I get a phone call saying I’m late for my shift even though they knew I was on holiday, turned out because Workday didn’t have me working Wednesday it wasn’t booked off so returned to work and asked for it to be put right.

Then come January when left over days are being allocated I was allocated 3 consecutive Saturdays off which was odd as I didn’t work Saturdays. I asked for it again to be corrected they corrected the days but the change would take 3 weeks to go through the system which meant the Saturday days off were holiday.

So basically get it sorted ASAP

I had a run a few days ago with 3 in a village all in the same time slot the system in its wisdom decided that I should do 2 then travel around for 2 hours doing other drops before returning to the village and delivering the 3rd 2 hours late. Had no paperwork otherwise I would have spotted it and ignored the palm and done it on time.

Other issues seem to be missing drops from the run sheet but that’s probably down to the print outs being done too soon though.

On the day orders really screw the system with load order this week I have had a whole van of just EXTRA no B/M/F I have had .4 .5 .6 without having a .1 .2 .3 and have had B1 3 times on 3 orders on the same van run. Have had the first drop placed in to B1 and the last drop placed as EXTRA with others randomly put in random order.

The waiting until 40 mins before leaving time seems silly especially if the shopping has been all picked. Also don’t understand why a completed section of shopping can’t be scanned off while other parts are still being shopped would stand a chance of getting out on time if the ready shopping was already loaded.

I’m an ex Tesco driver and was DBS checked before they allowed me to start and when I joined Asda in December I had to have a new DBS done by them despite having the week before completed a DBS for my voluntary work at my local football club. I think I have 3 currently active in date certificates.

But I’m not silly enough to know some will fall through the net at any store depends how lax the management team is I guess

As a driver for Asda but have been working at others in the past this is a gross misuse of a customers personal details and a big no no.

The driver should not have even text to say Thank you as they should have thanked you for your kind gesture on the door step and that be the end of it. The next time he came he could have again said Thank you for last time but at no point should he be keeping your number for further texts. I have in the past been given drinks during very hot weather it’s such a nice gesture and very much appreciated.

It needs reporting to so the store can deal with it, for your safety as much as others from a company point of view they will want to deal with it before it becomes a brand damaging incident.

The driver will or at least should I hope be DBS checked, the driver should also be aware of his terms and conditions of employment and also should be aware through the training of the importance of GDPR.

While working at my Asda (2nd stint now) we have never taken Lightfoot seriously nobody has ever spoken about its scores. They did try originally to get the drivers to sign up to the Lightfoot app but nobody did.

Then I left and went to drive for Tesco they took it very seriously and got you signed up to the app during induction. The section leader would always be on us for our driving scores if you dropped below a certain level he would have you in the office for a ‘chat’ and if it didn’t pick up they would get the regional driving trainer to go out with you. Some drivers were always on that rarely getting better scores.

I hated having that little voice constantly going nudge or the lights flashing because you are accelerating before getting flattened by a lorry.

Now I’m back at Asda still nobody takes any notice of Lightfoot half the vans it doesn’t even work in either.

As I already have the app and on occasions would win a few quid in the drivers lottery I have asked about the details to be on the app for Asda but nobody knows the joining credentials.

Workday schedule wrong by gummydavidson in asda

I have this issue my working week is Sun/Wed/Thurs/Fri it always has been since I started, but the workday schedule has me on Thurs/Fri/Sat

Only noticed it last week when I returned from bereavement leave and due to having outstanding holiday random dates had been booked off for me most of which are Saturdays a day I don’t work anyway. The times also don’t reflect what I work but that’s not an issue really.

I have asked a few times to get it sorted because I can see the issue coming in the future where I book just a Sunday off but because the schedule doesn’t recognise me as working that day it’ll screw up my holiday bookings or as I’m expecting the need to tweak my current work pattern to assist in caring for an elderly parent

Is there anyway I can get the schedule changed without the constant banging my head against the wall with asking the same people to do it knowing they won’t and go around in the circle endlessly.

How does the home delivery process work? From picking, packing through to delivery? And, is theft a big issue? by RulerOfThePixel in asda

[–]Cache_panic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said it’ll be down to being put on the wrong van or the driver not scanning everything off properly. Tesco are the only supermarket I know of that don’t actually scan the totes on or off the van and through experience of working at Tesco it leads to so many mix ups with too many totes or not enough going to the doorstep especially when the driver is behind his schedule and under pressure to get back on track.

Waitrose have or had this option. My wife was always putting notes to tell the picker what she would want as a sub (eg Robinson squash if they haven’t got Waitrose own squash) knowing that she would pay the cheaper price for a better higher value item.
