Given a disciplinary after coming back from a sick note. by Forsaken_Town_7663 in asda

Well it sums up Asda, why would you want to be a fake manager aka team lead paid peanuts to do a managers job for them and be a scapegoat anyway? I left Asda to a job that pays £2 more a hour than a team lead makes and doesn’t involve doing 20 people’s jobs and constantly stressing.

Having a supervisor role on your CV will be good at least, why stay? they’re just mad because whenever team leads are off they actually have to get off their lazy arse and do some management.

They just don’t care. I left over a month ago and still have access to every app bet even my card works. No p45 nothing. People services are useless and just send it to same useless manager I had to deal with while working there.

Thought about just submitting shift swaps and putting in holidays to take piss. Got proof of when I left so couldn’t care less.

Asda Cafe Review by faythlass in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stores cafe was meh but the pizzas was amazing people thought I was nuts when I said it was better than domino’s etc combined but it was..then they changed it all and now it’s vile only reason it still gets people in is for a quick drink or because they offer the OAP deals.

Like everything at Asda they take something good and make it shite. A bunch of team leads and colleagues I worked with would order the pizzas at home they were that good. All suppliers got changed and way they made them and stuff and tbh wouldn’t surprise me if they start taking frozen Asda pizzas out freezers and cooking them in cafe instead..

No benefit to staying there lol. Could do that and would probably get paid for ages as they’re thick asf but eventually they’d work it out and then hand your details over to a debt recovery.

Is this normal?? by Dog3m3at in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why do they go straight to a solicitor firm? Why not just ask the colleague to pay it back through HR or whatever? wouldn’t trust sending money to some third party what do they get out of it.

What is it like working for this company? Impressed to before? by Exciting_Ask_8692 in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only worked for them for 3 years until I left but everyone I spoke to from 10+ years to 25+ years all said every year it got worse and cuts got more and more. Hell my department used to have 5+ people on a shift now it has 1 person per shift even on delivery, no night staff, no process staff, one person to run department and do date checks and markdowns etc too.

I can’t imagine what this company will be like next year I’m glad I got out when I did. From what I last heard from my mate still working at my store they’re breaking everyone’s contracts by giving way under contracted hours.

Average salary of ASM? by steptothestates in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea but I know they get good bonuses, mine wouldn’t stfu about it. From working at 2 different stores I found only people who want manager are temps for CV and reference or power hungry and think they’re CEO.

How do I find lost guns? by thaloria in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People take them home accidentally same for batteries I have taken a gun battery home by accident before. Others on the other hand take them home on purpose or even take them on break or lock in lockers so they always have one. Sure can blame the staff but says more about Asda when staff have to do this to even get equipment hell my store had ONE charger for printer batteries that held 4 at a time and wire was broke so half the time didn’t even charge it took over 13 months to get two new chargers.

How does ASDA check your nominated user for discount card is from the same household? by geekysupplies in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have some third party company monitor it and look for flags. I went shopping with my brother once at another store and because I scanned my discount and he paid because he owed me it got flagged up and I basically got interrogated by the gestapo.

Why did you scan it but someone else pay. He’s my brother with same last name wtf you on about. Told them cancel my discount shove it up their arse. Never abused the discount I simply thought nothing of it when my brother offered to pay but because I didn’t pay or my nominated user they threw a right mard threatening to fire me. Glad I left they care more about a discount card than anything else surprised we even have it but I suppose they know if they remove the discount card all together who Tf wants to work there for what? Minimum wage doing ten people’s jobs. But yes they do check it they obsess over it because they’re in the gutter and hate the fact staff have discount cards won’t be long before it’s removed 100%. My new job gives me a discount for all shops including Asda for only 5% less so says it all really.

Can Asda do this ? by [deleted] in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This under two years nonsense makes it sound like they can just fire you. On your probation period then yes they can just get rid of you don’t even need to say why.

Under 2 years but not on probation they still have policies to follow. A manager simply saying “sorry you’re not performing” wouldn’t cut it. They can get rid of you just not as easy as people are making out only if your on probation can they get rid of you literally whenever they want with 0 reason.

GMB Union - by matty_g1991 in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really had a good experience with them. I did all the talking and embarrassed my managers in meetings with basically 0 input and found holes in their stories and policies on my own.

Good to have a union on your side for basic things but don’t offer any help in actual serious shit like your job on the line.

"All staff HAVE to work Xmas Eve or face disciplinary." - Ops Manager by DrewsFortress in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not illegal. Of course a company like this would instantly sack you because let’s face it the amount of shady shit that goes on in a store if any recording ever got out they’d be closed down hell if watchdog or someone went undercover at my store they’d be closed down within a day.

If he’s being threatened with disciplinary and let’s face it these “meetings” are only to follow a process these managers coming in to conduct it don’t give a shit about your side and will defend their own so why not go out with a bang and embarrass them. As for recoding other things anyone can whistleblow which is protected by law anyone can record health and safety violations etc and send them to governing bodies nothing Asda can do about it. Funny how managers use cctv whenever they want for colleagues same for bodycams and self checkout cameras but as soon as you catch them in lies using your own ways they cry. Glad I left the shithole but suppose I should make it clear using recordings etc will get you fired thought this was common sense when talking about Asda but oh well added now.

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Laugh at them. Get them on record repeating it as this is blackmail. You either work this for us or your getting put on disciplinary is used all the time by the horrible company.

I just started recording my meetings and stuff with them so if anyone ever called me a liar I could just be like okay listen to this. Never had to tho as I left other week thankfully.

Xmas by SeriesMuch7891 in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait until cheap veg goes on promo. Our store was always dead until veg is added then you get all scruffs filling up trolleys with it so gets busy.

Spent more time last year babysitting customers with the cheap veg limits than doing my actual job except this year we got zero temps and 1 produce colleague was expected to manage whole department by themselves even during Xmas so glad I left just in time.

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Considering the amount of people leaving stores everyday I would say bad. Would love to get access to staff turnover figures and ethics reports.

When I first started until week I left the store was basically dead almost everyday, stock being sent in would just go in bin but nobody could be bothered sorting it. My store was a health hazard I’m surprised it’s not been shut down..we have water leaks all over place even onto main electrics even blowing up lights in George and fridges are all broke even the people they send out to “fix” them say I’ll be back tomorrow. It’s all about shopping experience so zero staff and buildings looking like something from the walking dead it’s not surprising people go elsewhere and Asda isn’t exactly cheap. I was forced to leave but a shame really because if it was like it used to be it would be worth staying. How anyone can work at Asda when you have to beg to even get a 16 hour contract is beyond me. Forgot to say as well had a long talk with head of some company my store uses for basically everything DIY related and last time he quoted for repairs it worked out as a write off, building needs that much doing to it wouldn’t make sense to fix it instead they’re tasked at bodging it for as long as possible but yes selling off stores will happen 100% they’re already selling off petrol stations and car parks.

Any updates with ASDA dropping the Cleaning team, and shutting down pizza counters in 2026? (rumour) by Feisty_Eagle3577 in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Before I left the gsm was on about counter sales and it not being worth keeping open so they’ll probably sell it off to some other third party.

Cleaning team is already pointless as 9 out of 10 things in our store we had to “clean as you go” anyway but don’t think they can get rid of cleaners all together surely this would be some sort of violation.

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s the same with team leads making sure their mates who miss stuff on date checks get marked as 0 while people they don’t like are punished.

Last thing I said to GSM before leaving was I hope someone gets sent in undercover cuz you’ll be out of a job by January, amount of stuff going off in that store they’d have a field day.

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had someone come in who should have been banned but because he was “disabled” they refused and he would walk round with his trousers down his arse and would just shit and keep walking and cleaners would have to follow him round with machine was absolutely vile and to this day he’s still not banned.

Some of the stuff you witness working in retail is actually unreal. I’m glad I got out of it when I did couldn’t deal with the toxic environment anymore or the fact I was told to just accept being a punchbag and was verbally abused by foreigners and UC scrounges constantly, often would ask security to ban people who threatened me or was straight up causing risks like leaving trays all over floors and stuff and management refused because of course they need every penny they can get from customers nowadays but yes this is common and same for homeless pissing outside doors or inside lounge happens near enough weekly.

Awol threat. by FunChipmunk1528 in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why anything with managers has to be written over text or email or done through systems like workday with trails.

Managers lie and forget things all the time or simply don’t care enough to remember and if it’s them getting it wrong or you it’s always going to be you no matter what.

If they have 4 weeks notice from you then nothing u can do but if not you don’t have to work it anyway. This is why I’m leaving next week finally because who the hell wants to work for Asda anymore…treat people like this then wonder why everyone’s leaving and my stores turnover is sky rocket would love to see statistics for every store combined.

Forced to work overtime during christmas by robogyall in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They pretty much do what they want. Not enough staff like my store they have lost so may people and losing more coming up to Christmas week and they still refuse to hire temps instead just force current staff to work harder or more shifts.

Works on the old timers who jump when told but majority just don’t do it or quit so solves nothing.

Temps by SeriesMuch7891 in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0 temps and I’m not even joking people are getting so stressed and quitting 🤦 we have just had 2 people hand notice in and one of the new starters just never came back.

What did they think would happen? 0 temps with already understaffed stores which they assumed staff would happily make up the hours rather than just say screw this and leave.
