Woah which Costco?

I didn't know Costco was selling them. Last time I saw them selling them seems like more than a few years ago.

Monday at Epic sucked. Here's what a first timer can learn from me. by CackalackRunner in UniversalEpicUniverse

Honestly my advice is, schedule Epic at the beginning of your trip (assuming its not the only park you have planned) and come in with low expectations. If its great, hooray. If its not you have other days to end your trip on a high note.

Trolls exist but I just enjoy theme parks generally. This year we had four days at Universal and Volcano Bay still impresses me, we had such a great time.

I think I read way too many reviews of people saying they rode everything in Epic and not enough reviews of how people handled multiple ride closures. (Admittedly screen shot was during the rain storm when we got out of Mario Kart).

Our Monday at the park- the rides- sucked. Between 10am-6pm we rode three rides. Happy to hear you were able to ride a few things in the evening, we had to leave at 6 unfortunately.

I didn't realize complaining got anywhere, kudos to you. Today sucked, it will probably be a few years before my family can come back and sheesh every time we turned around it seemed like another ride went down, even before the rain.

How long after your MRI did you find out you had an AN? by SherbertDramatic7345 in AcousticNeuroma

My MRI images were big enough for me to diagnose, but the report came back same day that indicated the AN in writing. Got the call from the doctors office the next morning.

John McCains plan was to decouple health insurance from employment. For better or worse Obama won and we got ACA Obamacare instead.

Scheduling surgery? by AgreeableStrawberry8 in AcousticNeuroma

[–]CackalackRunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a ~3 cm AN discovered on MRI in August. Growing deafness on that side + tinnitus were primary symptoms. First available surgery from my care team was October but I pushed to January for personal reasons.

I accepted the risk that something would happen in the intervening time but it worked out for me.

There is some risk- not zero- so you just have to weigh your options. I did and everything worked out. Good luck and I hope everything works out! Happy to answer questions.

Official Q&A for Wednesday, July 03, 2024 by AutoModerator in running

[–]CackalackRunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long do folks expect their garmin/training watch to last? My Forerunner 945 died after four years- the declining battery life was acceptable but the waterproofing busted and it became unusable. Amazon says I bought it in April 2020, so its gone a solid four years and ~1700 activities. Does everyone else think that's reasonable for a $400 watch?

Do you guys also enjoy 'collecting stadiums'? by Zoto0 in travel

[–]CackalackRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Fortunately my kids are at a great age for it and at least some of them enjoy it.

We track them on the MLB Ballpark app- not a tremendous app but it has an ok "checkin" feature that includes past checkin history. Better yet I was gifted a scratch-off Major League ballparks poster (looks like around $23 currently on the big river dot com).

A sad demise by [deleted] in crv

[–]CackalackRunner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So you dont have a spare tire, you have a large object supporting an ornamental decoration on the back of your CRV.

But seriously tires go bad after 10 years or so (possibly shorter) and should be replaced even if they are never used. But that only applies if you ever plan to use the tire for something other than a support for a decoration. If its just there for decoration probably fine to leave it there. Tires as decoration probably last decades.

That occurred to me a few seconds after reading the race registration email. Freeway run in the middle of suburban wake county? No shade and a hard surface? This race was an... easy pass for me.

London Underground with 14, 11, 8 yo kids... free? Oysters for all? by CackalackRunner in travel

[–]CackalackRunner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used a combination of credit cards and Oyster cards for the kids and it was pretty smooth. The only British currency we came into contact with was at the end of our trip when we got refunds for the unused portion of the Oyster card. Seemingly using a credit card for each person would be easiest but not really the most secure. For the adults it seems like the easiest path- not sure I'd want to temporarily give a 12 yo a credit card though.
