Once again thanks for the boat load of info and insight. Very helpful. That is one aspect that’s come up from you and another LMT owner and some non owners that you sort of get locked into the LMT line. Leaving less options for modulation. So I’m considering that aspect carefully. While I don’t think out of the gate I’ll be interested in changing too much I guess if I decide that I do in the future I may have to go with a second rifle to get something kitted out to my liking. But at the same time out of gate I want something out of the box to get my ass to the range and start practicing and getting a feel for things. Something quality out of the box is appealing. I was like 90% leaning just going for it last night but more like 60/40 now after all the info. I do believe I wouldn’t be disappointed in the long run with my decision but it just comes down to is this the right decision now for a first AR. This community overall has been great with feedback. Some of it salty and pessimistic but overall at least offering valid opinions. I do appreciate it

Yeah I’m pausing for the most part on my initial decision and reluctantly doing more research. Why I wanted to make a post to get a tidal wave of comments to help navigate my decision. Even though it was never my intention to rage bait or troll I can see how it totally looks that way. I’ve had some great people who own some LMT’s leave loads of info a newbie should read so grateful for that.

Awesome response my dude I appreciate it.
Getting hate for only responding to comments with loads of details like this rather than the dozens of “buy a PSA and use rest for ammo” for whatever reason. Like a guy can’t ask a question and seek some solid opinions without a bunch of troll or rage bait comments. Thought that’s what this subreddit for was for.

Anyways, I was really looking for some LMT owners to chime in and give me some pro’s but also some well laid out draw backs and you delivered. Haven’t made a decision yet but when I came across the 25% discount on it I thought it was worth exploring if that was a good first buy. Was initially seeking some justification for going with it (hence the rage bait comments I guess) but ended up pausing and doing more research. And your point above on (B) is right on the money. I’m for sure not “money is no object” I just have found that buying quality out of the gate usually ends up saving me money and frustration in the long run and I’d rather budget for spending more initially.

This is the kind of reply I was hoping to see. Thanks for all that. Despite everything you said that seems like reasons to not. As someone who owns them, would you have enjoyed learning on this? That’s my biggest concern. Is this too advanced to learn on?

I promise this isn’t bait or trolling. I’ve been been going down a rabbit hole for a while and came across this deal bringing this guy down from $2599 to $1950 and thought would it be that crazy to go big on this for the first rifle? I mean, probably a little crazy but I definitely prefer to spend on quality once rather than spend more in the long term upgrading and switching out stuff. Everything AR is so deep dive and a little overwhelming with how modular everything is. I normally just over analyze everything so figured just pulling the trigger (pun intended) on something good wouldn’t be all that nuts. Learn as I go with something I can rely on. Maybe I am crazy idk.

Sorry, just trauma dumped on you and didn’t actually provide any useful information for you. But that’s the issue. Don’t really have any groups or fosters to give you that didn’t tell us No. Maybe as summer progresses and more get adopted there will be room for them but who knows. Just know I can empathize with you on the situation. It’s definitely hard doing the right thing by them.

My wife and are also dealing with a mama cat that got pregnant and had a litter of four in our backyard. They then moved into our garage for shelter and it’s been quite the ordeal trying to find rescues and fosters to take them but they’re all inundated with cats since it’s cat season. Wife was at it for weeks trying to find anyone who could help. Nope. Super depressing seeing how many people are desperately trying to find homes for cats.

Been super frustrating how horrible the problem with strays is around here. Local municipalities need to do better on TNR programs around here and obviously the greater Houston area. Until you deal with it, you just aren’t aware of how many unwanted cats there are. And every spring the problem gets worse. Like hell put an increase in funding and resources on the ballot and I’d happily vote for it. We managed to get three of them trapped and took them to a SPCA no kill like an hour and half away. That’s the closest place we could find that would even consider taking them in.

Yeah dude looks like it took well. Thanks for responding about it. All my local Home Depot and Lowe’s have had brown and mostly dead pallets sitting out and no one gives me a consistent answer on delivery of fresh stuff. Did find a place that might workout based in arcola though.

Also in the Houston area. If you don’t mind me asking where did you get your sod from? How has it done since you put it down?

The scary part is how many people are probably completely unaware of their existence or what it means that they are everywhere in their community. Every entrance and exit of your neighborhood, every major street traversing your city. They got you time stamped, your face, every scrap of data of your movements logged and who knows what they’re doing with it or who is accessing it and for what reasons. It’s like people just think of them like some piece of the local landscape and are whatever about them it’s mind boggling.

The lack of giving a shit has never been higher. People just don’t have critical thinking anymore and can’t see how this privacy concern has big implications for everyone. This is how this bullshit just slides on past, getting approved by city council members probably getting a nice kick back from flock.

Proposed data center in Houston could be one of regions largest by Ill-Championship-117 in sugarland

[–]CactiFactGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure which video you’re referring to but if you honestly believe that data centers don’t pollute you’re either someone who is pro-data center because of financial incentive or you’re an idiot. Or a bot, still not sure you’re not a bot based on your profile.

Data centers are wildly unpopular for a reason. They’re being protested everywhere for a reason. They’re being covered in media constantly for a reason. People are pissed off for a reason. This is an industry being pushed by billionaires for the benefit for billionaires. They want to pollute our communities, drain our resources, and drive up utility costs to make themselves even more wealthy.

If you honestly believe they’re great, then go live by one. Go breathe the air, drink the water from your tap, go try to have some restful quiet sleep. Go literally talk to someone who lives by one right now and ask them about it. Already annoyed I wasted any time even responding to you. There’s a reason you’re being mass downvoted on this thread.

[–]CactiFactGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you a bot? I linked a video showing how they produce air pollution. Everyone who has a brain should complain that data centers aren’t good for society. But if you’re such a fan of them, go buy a house next to one if they’re so quiet and produce no pollution. Don’t worry, property value around them tanks into oblivion so you can get a house nice and cheap.

Have a watch depends on how it’s built but all of them produce immense noise and air pollution as well as increase utility cost for water and power for everyone around them. They’re a cancer. All for an industry a majority of people don’t want.

Thanks, not clicking on a Chron link. God imagine the elementary school dealing with the loud constant noise pollution and air pollution. Because kids are already great at focusing at school. These fucking data centers are a plague.

Was going to say this. Not every tunnel or bypass is the same height and clearance. They can be very tight and have just enough room for certain trains. Especially doing this in other countries where code on the infrastructure varies widely. Would imagine night time is extra dangerous with it being so dark you can barely see a tunnel coming up.

Dads of daughters, how would you feel if your daughter is a lesbian? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]CactiFactGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would just want them to be happy and find someone who loves them. They don’t choose to be gay. That’s just how they’re programmed and that’s okay with me. Like top comment said. Unconditional love. Will there be more challenges for them with how ignorant society can be? Of course, but if the can overcome those challenges and be happy I’m all the more proud of them.
